Trades suggestion

So, I just spent about twenty minutes going through that silly little list trying to find the item I wanted to send in the trade back and well, it's annoying and time consuming. So I started trying to think of ways to improve such that wouldn't put too much more strain on both the servers and the staff.

Why not have the drop down thing remain, but either alphabetize it or have a separate box beneath it for those of us who know the exact name of the item we're searching for to just quickly enter it and be done.

Just a suggestion. :]

Does your browser not simply jump around the list based on what you type?

Mnemosyne 06-18-2010 03:02 AM

Sometimes. Sometimes it doesn't let me, but I believe that is more depending on which computer I am using. However, that is still kind of difficult as a lot of items have the same starting word and they aren't grouped together so you just have to keep going and going and going until it finally bounces to the one you want.

At least alphabetical would make that easier. -shrug-

Yeah I hate having to search my inventory in trades because well, most of the time it won't let me type in more than one letter of the item name, so, basically I could be trying to get the...Light purple stockings, but it will only let me type 'l', so instead it will pull up "Lavender basic skirt" or something.

xp

I hate that.
I'd like to be able to SEE my inventory on the trades page, actually.

That would be what I'd prefer too, but for those that have larger inventories it might start to cause some strain on our servers. I don't want to slow the site down. I just think at least making it alphabetize would make the system more efficient. x.x

Yeah, or at least grouping like items together.

Click on the box and start typing out the item.

Tijodon, this has been mentioned. It is nice that it is included, but if you're computer responds like mine or monstahh's then you're only allowed to type out 2-3 of the letters. Then for the items that have a similar first WORD you still wont find the item you're looking for. If they were to be at least grouped alphabetically or at the very least grouped with like items, as monstahh suggests then it'd be a little bit more efficient. That's all.

It's not THAT bad.
What I do if it's really that bad is drag the item(s) I want to trade to the top of my main inventory.

Does that actually work?

You do realize that you can keep typing and it'll keep updating, right?

Silenia 06-19-2010 07:34 PM

Kin: Not for everyone.

For example, I want to type in "Dragon Helmet". D it accepts. R if I am lucky.
by the time I press the a-button, it sends me to Amorian Chakram or whatever other item that starts with an A is closest.

So I am bound to keep pressing the D and go through all other items with a d before finding my helmet.

Dragging the items to the main inventory layer works to a certain degree - it usually does end up in the first few items - but usually it doesn't show up as the first item, at least not for me.

Hatake Ayumi 06-19-2010 07:43 PM

It works for me. The item usually ends up as one of the first few items, makes it a lot easier than the other methods I've tried.
*shrug*

Silenia 06-19-2010 07:44 PM

It ends up in the first two-three rows for me, usually, which is better than the other methods indeed. At least I can find it that way. xD

Hatake Ayumi 06-19-2010 07:47 PM

?
Do you have a lot of drawers?
From what I've seen, in the first few rows, depending on the number of items in each drawer, it shows one item per drawer, alternating drawers.
So if you had 4 drawers, the items would go item from 1, item from 2, item from 3, item from 4, item from 1... (repeat).
Figure out which drawer has its items listed first and put the to-be-traded item as first in that drawer.

Silenia 06-19-2010 07:57 PM

Ah, thank you for that information. Had never noticed it. I have a lot of drawers, yes.

Cora 06-20-2010 09:41 AM

Ok.....cora has to admit that she has NO idea what you guys are talking about. There is a search bar in the trades?

jellysundae 06-20-2010 03:53 PM

No, they're talking about after you've added the first item to your trade and it goes to the accept window. The drop-down list there. You can find items by hitting the letter that their name begins with and it will flick through the all the items that start with that letter in the list :)

Cora 06-21-2010 01:35 AM

oooooh I never knew that. That is more convenient then scrolling through all my items o.0

jellysundae 06-22-2010 08:31 AM

This method usually works on any dropdown option, not just on Mene

Rylynne 06-22-2010 01:42 PM

I'm one of those who can't type the whole word so that I can find my items in the drop down menu by name. :'<
I can type up to three or four letters, and then the thing "resets", so to speak. :x
If it helps, I use Safari as my main browser. And, well, since there's no option for Safari to turn off music for Mene's games, I guess it's not that shocking that it doesn't have the trick you guys were talking about in the previous pages. xDD;;
