If we could transfer our money on our gaia account to our menewsha account.
Sounds impossible, just thought I'd post it.

Impossible, yes. Cool, I really don't think so. I much rather keep Gaia as far from Mene as much as I can as I really have no love for Gaia.

Gaia and Menewsha aren't the same thing, at all. So I don't see how it would even work, not that it would ever be implemented anyway.

It's like trying to sell a Big Mac at Taco Bell. Yes, they are both fast food places but that's where the similarities end. The same people don't even own both sites.

I have like 5 or6 within a 15 minute drive. XD It's kind of sad how much fast food there is around here though. I think I would starve if I could not have my Taco Bell.

lol, I think the idea is impossible for all the said reasons. Would be sort of cool though.....only cause I have like.....9 million in gold left on gaia that I will never use lol. But gold isn't worth the same there as it is here.

One thing I would find cool at least would be a conversion chart of some sort so that newbies could see what an item would cost on Gaia to realize the items aren't super expensive XD (would be like something you could link to people who whine about items being expensive or gold too hard to earn)... plus it'd be fun to play with

Don't you think that might give people the impression that offsiting was allowed? I understand what you're suggesting, but because we try so hard to not be compared to Gaia something like this would seem counter-productive to me  Especially as is not as if all the people who sign up here are from Gaia, and not all of the people from Gaia are younger kids who don't have much of a grasp on economics in general and so don't realise/understand/care that not all site's economies are the same.

I think perhaps we fight a little too hard against being compared to Gaia. I understand that we want to stand on our own and that we are a significantly different site. But it seems to me that every time someone makes a post suggesting something that Gaia has (even if they don't reference Gaia in the post), they're immediately jumped on and their idea completely dismissed. Not everything that Gaia has done is a bad idea, and we certainly shouldn't insult people just for making suggestions.
This isn't really that connected to this thread, but it's something that's been irking me for awhile.

No, no. I don't mean you. I was just responding to your line of us trying so hard not to be compared to Gaia.
If you want, I'm sure that within ten minutes I could find you five instances of people being immediately rude to someone who suggested something that Gaia has (or at the very least shooting down an idea simply because Gaia has it), but I'd rather not post them here because I don't want to upset anyone.

Yeah, I have to say I agree, Cami.
Gaia's been one of the most successful and most well-known avatar sites. In fact, most avatar sites I've seen, probably wouldn't exist were it not for Gaia to pave the way for a mass market in it.
Gaia's made some mistakes, but Gaia's also had a lot of really good ideas, too. Even if they fucked up the execution (zOMG and Towns for example.)
But because Gaia made those mistakes first, had those ideas "first" (though an MMO with customizable avatars isn't really a new thing...cough EverQuest/WoW/ect), if another site tries them, even if they do it right, they're still "just copying Gaia."
I don't think it should really be as big a deal as some people think it is. Just because someone takes an idea someone else had and does something with it, doesn't make them unoriginal. I mean, the Japanese have a whole market of technology based on something someone else did, and then they do it better. >__>" Are they copying? No, they're expanding.
I mean. Look at the telephone.
And now more people have cellphones than regular telephones...But was the creator of the cellphone copying someone else?
No...I think he took an idea that was out there (long distance communication with voices over a device), and expanded upon it.
Wow, this got ramble-y.
I guess what I'm trying to say, is taking an idea and expanding it isn't copying, taking an idea and copying it, is copying.
Make sense? (No probably not.. T_T)

I hope I've never made said rude comments. I may sound exasperated at times because the SF is filled with the same suggestions over and over (can't imagine how the staff feel on that, It must be rather much more exasperating).....I do try and explain why it doesn't work.

I love the feedback, even if it's silly and repetitive at times. The more something is repeated, the more interest it shows and potentially the more we go in that direction.

Yup, what Inso says is true. I'll admit that it is hard to answer a suggestion like it's the first time that it's ever been suggested though. Particularly if it's already been suggested 6 times on the same page :ninja:
