I'm interested by people saying they have no active friends to use it on. If a room is open and there are people in there, what's stopping you just popping in and saying Hi?
It's no different to talking to someone new on the forums.

Cami...many people on the site are entirely gold focused, that was made pretty obvious by the amount of complaining over the game cap being lowered :lol:

Jelly: I tend to think those are the people who don't really care about the site... I've always felt that you should be enjoying the site so much that you never even think about how what you're doing affects your gold. The addition of gold is just a pleasant additional benefit.

@ Cami: I agree with you. I'm more here for the community aspect of things. I don't really get the whole gold driven thing either.

umm for some reason I can't chat. I see the bar and when someone tries to talk to me their name comes up on a little tab beside the 'who's online' tabby, but I can't click on the name to get the message. I'm using firefox. I had one of my friends sign in and it didn't work for her either on my computer...

Can someone please help me -.-.

That's kind of a super-happy-fun-fun-rainbows and puppies attitude to take. After all, it is an avatar site. Sure, the community is important, but the gold certainly isn't an afterthought.

Of course everyone likes gold. I certainly like gold. But I wouldn't hang out here if I wasn't having fun without the addition of gold. I hang out plenty of places that don't have any kind of currency at all, because I like the place and the people. I would come here if there wasn't any gold at all because I have friends here. All I'm saying is that I don't think the decisions of what to do with the site should be made with the assumption that the accumulation of gold is our primary desire. The site needs to be enjoyable on it's own.

Yup, I'll agree that Cami's outlook is a little idealistic, but then again, she's been on the site for a long time and has probably accumilated a lot of stuff.

I'll say that I don't give a fig about gold but then I have everything that I want. I think that might be the crux of the matter. The people who have a greater interest in gaining currency are maybe those who are newer and want "stuff" or those with pretty hardcore quests to complete. Also the kind who, if we allowed it and our gold system made it worthwhile, would do nothing but bump for hours and hours, like people do on Gaia.

I like stuff! =3 but I also love the pixel work on Menewsha so much. It's very detailed and just so pretty. So I love gold, so I can get those pretty little pixels and be pretty myself!
