Roleplay of the month
Since a lot of people on mene roleplay, i was thinking that maybe there should be a roleplay of the month. People can send a link to their rp and there would be someone reading it and rating how good the rp is.I know that some rps are really long so maybe they can choose a section of the rp to get rated. I was thinking of this while rping a while back and just remembered it again and after reading some rps going on now which i think are really good and deserve something like rp of the month. |
*shrugs* personally I don't see point to the 'of the month' or 'of the week' kinda things... I'll wont take part in the avatar of the week, 1. because my avatars are never good enough, but also because I think it cheapens the fun of creating. My avatars are the way I like them, and the role plays I'm in are the way they are because it's fun.
I also don't think it's possible to look over personal preferences when judging role plays.... but again thats just me... |
i understand what you're saying. for some people things like that suck out the fun, but to me i love participating in contests and stuff like that because it adds to the fun im having. When it comes to judging there could be like a score sheet to how well written it is and stuff like that, so they can try and avoid stuff like choosing it just because they like what its about.plus there can be more than one person judging it so you have more opinions.

Syraan: You don't purposefully take part in avie of the week. Jelly just chooses her favorite avatar for the week, so she may choose yours whether you're choosing to participate or not. I think most people who are chosen are just having fun and making avatars they like, not trying to win.
Roleplay of the month is probably unlikely to happen, though, because it would involve a lot of reading and I don't think the staff have time for it. |
Maybe having something that's user's pick instead of having staff pick it? I think something like that would be fun.

In my personal opinion - RPing should stay a fun past time for the users here. By turning it into a contest, I think that a lot of people would get competitive very quickly and suck the fun out of most RPs. I'd rather see everyone in the RP forums because they enjoy their time there, are making friends, and want an outlet for creativity, not because they want to beat out others in order to win an award.
While it's a really nice idea that you want to reward people for creating well written and imaginative stories, a weekly/monthly award may not be the best way of going about it. |
Yes - please feel free to create a sort of "User's Pick" of "Roleplay of the ____" if you feel like such a thing would encourage people to try out other games they might not have before.
Most of the staff does not role-play here on Menewsha and it would seem like we wouldn't be the best ones to judge what are the most 'deserving' role-plays here. :) EDIT: I also agree with Knerd's post. I think with a user review of role-plays or a user's pick of the "most ___" of the week/month/whatever might avoid some of the bad feelings, but if the staff chose them, then it would create more bad feelings than good. |
I think it's a nice idea...but, not everyone RPs, and some RPs are the way they are because of the people in them, not because the RP itself is a brilliant idea. XD
|
i understand completely to what you all are saying, it can suck out the fun but it might also recruit more people to roleplay.
CK: if i were to create this thread where would i put it? cause it doesnt really fit in with the rp section unless i were to put it in with rp requests? |
I'd just put it in the main RP forum. There is no "theme" for threads in the main RP forum. :) I once had a thread in the main RP forum that wasn't an actual role-playing game but was instead a sort of challenge to take elements and write an rpg scene based on it.
