Alerts for RP posts?
 

I think that we should get alerts when someone posts in your thread or a thread that you posted in. I know you can subscribe...but that's complicated. :/

It's not complicated. You just click Thread Tools, and subscribe. Then choose if you want an email sent or not. That's it. If you want to check if you have a new post, click "My Account". Any threads with new posts will show up.

Yeahh, I know, but I still think it would just be easier to get alerts. I appreciate your help, though. ^^

I don't see a reason to implement a new feature when we already have a feature that does this. You can subscribe to a thread with instant email notifications if you prefer to be notified in some other way. You could also ask your RP partners to ping you. But both require even more clicks than just checking the "My Account" tab (clicking to your inbox, opening the message, then following the link inside as opposed to clicking "My Account" and then the thread).

We have a long list of things that need to be coded for the site, and we're short on funds and coders. Adding a new feature similar to one that we already have is very unlikely. I'm afraid you'll just have to get in the habit of checking your subscribed threads. :sweat: It's a bit difficult to remember to do at first, but if you consistently keep at it, it becomes a habit. Sometimes I even end up on that page without even meaning to! :lol:

You can also use the "pinging" feature to alert your RP partners, and ask that they do the same. :D

I did not even know that you could subscribe to get email alerts. that is pretty convient. But checking back is also easy enough. I mean i post a lot but there i only some that I care if they respond or not.
And that pinging feature? What is that exactly? I have never heard of that. Does it ping like when your on menewsha and then a little like box appears? That would be helpful. Also getting a little message in your inbox would be helpful. or do they already have that? This is the first I have heard of any of this. See forums are really important. You learn a lot from them that you typically probably would not have learned.

A ping alerts someone to a post. For example, I'll ping you. kittykondos: It's basically in case someone wants you in the thread, would like a post from you, etc. To ping someone, do this: @exactusername;

oh okay. Thank you for clearing that up for me. That was like the first time I ever heard of this ping thing. And yes it is kind of just the same thing as an email alert. and it is useful. I agree to that. Checking back and fourth is very unnerving and annoying. So yeah I also signed up for that thing with the notifications. It is useful too.
