I thanked the person who reported the bug to me. I'll give you a hint, it was the person that told me what the actual bug was. It's a bug report, not a conference call.

@Insomniac: and we used to have a forum for things of that nature........ At the moment I sent you that I was at work and didn't have the time to send you a detailed message. I could do slight browsing but that was it. I wanted to really explain things so It could be dealt with properly. Shame on me for trying.

However it was being able to do it as I explained it that made it easier on me to do in between calls at work. Regardless I'm glad it was fixed. That could have been after he got off work and felt that you were ignoring his message though, Inso. Sure, he should have sent you a detailed description of the bug as soon as possible if he felt it was important enough. But if he didn't get a reply and he felt that there was a sort of hatred (for lack of a better word) towards him, then no reply could and possibly would be viewed as ignoring him.

I wasn't there when it all went down and there is no way I could know what thoughts run through either of your minds. I can only go by how I think it could have been.

Regardless, I really hate seeing this go on.

And the person nice enough to report the bug to me just copied and pasted that conversation. You could have got credit for the bug if you'd have done the same thing, but you didn't.

I didn't care about credit, I just wanted to know it was being fixed.

I was out of town anyway, I didn't get the PM the same day.

Well, that's understandable about why you didn't get the chance to reply but I'm sure he had no way of knowing that. I assume that none of the staff gives a head up for when they might be away from Mene for any periods of time. Because if there was a way then perhaps another staff member could have told him that you were out of town when he PMed them.

@Insomniac: Worded improperly on my part. What I meant by a thank you was SOME sort of acknowledgment. I just wanted to know it was being taken care of. However did I feel unappreciated? You bet your ass I did.

@Bill: If he was just another user, I would tell him to hit the road and ignore him. Insomniac is the administrator and by proxy not as easily avoidable. overall this is his site. He shells out thousands a month on it and at this point.... I'm just beat. I haven't slept in some 48 hours, I haven't eaten since 7pm wed night (It's now 1:30 PM thursday) and I'm just done. I'm just ready to get some solid answers and go from there.

@ Insomniac - Azazel values professionalism. I don't blame him. Other people might find this amusing, but there's always the chance that someone won't. That's why professionals are expected to act professional, for that number of people that won't. Next time, instead of doing something quirky and cute, smack him the corporate way as is expected of you and carry on your merry buisness.

@ Azazel - Insomniac has expressed that he would prefer you not seek to interact with him. Respect that. Even though you may just be trying to be friendly, he does not want civil conversation. And you do not need to interact with him directly to be of assistance to the site. If you want to exercise this "civil" you keep speaking of, try it when you create a thread regarding an issue such as this one or the one you created regarding the lack of response to your glitch. Also, stop asking if people want you to stay or not. That is your choice and at this point, it looks like childish attention-seeking. Like you're expecting someone to beg you to stay or want to be martyred be having someone in power tell you directly to leave.

And to the other users that have posted to this thread regarding this issue.

I think that it would be preferred if posts in this thread were kept relevant to the issue or issues being discussed. I believe that posts advising Azazel to stop arguing or to be the better person or such are better suited to a more private means of communication as they seem to be more of personal advise than useful feedback to the situation at hand.

@ Azazel - You are not an Assistant Administrator of this site. You are free to carry the title wherever that position has been given to you. But you do not have that title here and displaying yourself as such would be considered staff impersonation.

Inso - Granted this could have been addressed a bit better, I do see why you made the choices you made. I saw this happen with Gabe, and it saddens me that older users are fighting with you, users that have been here long before I joined. I think a better option, maybe since the redirecting seems to bother people, redirecting them to a blank page or the home page would be a better thing to do. (Granted you're in charge and I'm not, but it would be a better choice overall to prevent the user from being offended/annoyed with something they claim to be "unproffessional")

Aza - You say you saw this with gabe. Yes, I did too. I was there... and you know... he fought when he should have just apologized and moved on. Even if say Inso was at fault (though I'm not sure who is) just letting it go would be a much better choice. You also need to understand that you do come off as attacking inso, though I can tell you're just frustrated. Inso is human just like you. But yknow what? He works a long day, comes home and works on menewsha... he has to keep himself going somehow... so he implements humor into his life (correct me if I'm wrong here inso)... and honestly I'd prefer him to be playful than horribly serious like some people can get (just some people in general nobody specific)

As for the location of mentioning AA... if it was under your username can understand the infraction, as that is not where your JOB/Title is supposed to go. That would go into Occupation. More a comment box than anything.

@ Both - Mind if I ask... to find out the severity of this issue... what was this "bug" that was mentioned? As I know it was referred to as "obvious" and I've not seen many bugs.

As a final note, I would just like to say that I hope this goes well... as I'd hate to see this go more sour. It makes me sad to see that red title appearing under so many older user's usernames.

o.o The topic is fairly recent and there has been no indication of the issue being resolved. Has it been resolved? Forgive me if I have come to kick a dead horse.

This depends on which end of the stick you're on. An outside opinion would find this amusing. I find this amusing. But I would have been offended if I was informed through this method that the Administrator of a site did not want to speak to me.

Menewsha does have fun little quirks here and there. Its an amusing bit of personality that I can appreciate. But you can't compare the little jokes between the staff and the users with this situation. This wasn't a joke. The redirect was used as an administrative tool to prevent someone from speaking to another person. This was an unprofessional response and use of power and I can understand why the user on the receiving end would be displeased.

So choosing to redirect to a blank or different page would have made no difference. The better option would have been to have done as all other users on this site are expected to do: Confront the person and ask the person to leave one alone, then take further action if necessary as necessary from there.


What should Azazel apologize for? If Insomniac is at fault, which I believe he is to a certain degree in the situation regarding the redirect, then why would it be better for Azazel to simply let go? If he has been wronged, he has every right to protest and voice his opinion.

However, I do agree that he has been extremely immature presenting his argument for this matter.

And I repeat. You have to see the difference between a situation were quirky staff jokes are acceptable and a situation where professionalism is expected and appreciated. I believe that this particular situation called for professionalism over quirky staff jokes. And considering the outcome, I believe I am correct.
