I do not want to see anything like Ernya has with those goddamn "spells" they're so confusing and you need like 5 billion of the item to have all the different colors and its nothing short of a marketing ploy.
I would much rather just have special items that come in one color, perhaps with a once in a while third item that is a spin off color-wise of one of the CIs for the month.
Like those two koi fish items. I forget what they're called, but I love both the black and white ones. :) Gorgeous work, and not TOO excessive, like I think the "Spells" thing gets...uhg.

I don't, considering that out of all the items we have, only three items that were included as CIs were recolors. The Golden Mystic Faun Horns, Silver Serpent Bracers and the Karasu Ningyo. Two of those were a gift, one was technically a CI. I can see why some might see the Karasu Ningyo as a cop out in a way, but at the same time, it had multi poses, compared to the horns and bracers. Mene was experimenting with a third CI option to expand the Cash Shop, as it's a major want in the feedback. And CK did explain that Wishie couldn't get out a separate CI for that month to test because she was overworked and working on other projects, if I recall correctly.

Now, the recolored items in the Auctioneer are only available with gold. It's a gold sink, and a very good one in my opinion. People pay the gold they have and are willing to spend. Nothing more, nothing less. It's nice that they are not making those items a separate CI on their own - just as an item you can choose to buy on the MP or not. And in essence, that's what gold sinks are supposed to do. xD And, it encourages people to donate so they can attain those items, which Mene desperately needs. In terms of recoloring items, I think Mene is doing an excellent job in my opinion compared to other avatar sites. They are not taking old items, like the Queens Crown or Kings Crown for example and remaking them into a silver color. No, they release the recolors the month in which the items are based off of. With a month or two of delay here or there, but it was expected considering how busy the staff has been with the event that happened not too long ago.

If Mene were to sell the single one colors as their own CI in the cash shop, I can see that as being a cop out. (Though truth be told, I wouldn't mind spending Mennies on the items instead of gold, so I'd have more for commons xD). But they are not. They do have similar items that are released, like the Fox Spirit and the Kitsune and Caboodle - but they are pixeled differently and are not just a recolor, while still looking similar, which I like. :3

I was refereing to that I never wanted this to happen. I do like how they have handled things so far.

I personally am against the recolours to be honest. I know that just because I'm not on board with it won't actually effect whether or not it goes ahead, but just thought that my two cents was needed. (It wasn't needed...I just like to talk... xD)

Anyway, the spells on Ernya do detract from the item in my opinion. The fact that you have the option to turn rares into different colours to fit in with whatever commons your using really doesn't appeal to me and does devalue them. Rare items are called rares for a reason, they're on sale for a limited time only and are not supposed to fit into absolutely every avatar that you create. That's why I don't like the spells.

Although I know you weren't meaning anything like what Ernya does, the principle is basically the same. Well, to me it is anyway.

No idea how things work in that site as I never got into it before I left =) but guessing no-recolour winning this one lol
