Earn Mennies

I can't be the only broke person who can't buy mennies:( but I don't mind doing surveys in my spare time:yes:

Ikuto Akihiko Hasegawa 06-09-2012 03:07 PM

Are you suggesting we have surveys for mennies? :O

Neat idea, but I do see this as something we would be unable to do.

kimonoki 06-09-2012 03:34 PM

ohh pooh! but yes i was hoping for that....oh well maybe oneday o;)

neller 06-09-2012 04:34 PM

Yea. I could see this being a problem, since Menewsha struggles financially as is. Menes help fund the site, but if you give out free Mene's, the site will lose it's funds because people will stop buying the currency and start trying to earn it, since it would be money they wouldn't have to spend.

Cherry Who? 06-09-2012 06:43 PM

Mennies given for taking surveys wouldn't be free to anyone but the person taking the survey. The reason sites are able to do that for currency is because the third party survey company pays the site giving currency.

For example, we'll say that Honda wants opinions on their cars. They set up a survey, then send it to a bunch of survey sites. Honda will pay the survey sites for every person who completes the survey. The survey sites then set it up so that, say, Farmville can offer their surveys. Farmville gets a little widget thing from the survey site, and Farmville players can take these surveys. For each Farmville players who takes the Honda survey, it gets passed back from Farmville, to the survey site, to Honda. Honda's money goes to the survey site, who then gives a bit to Farmville. Farmville gives an amount of credits that's about equal to the money they got from Honda to the player who took the survey. Farmville isn't losing money or giving free credits, the money just isn't coming from the wallet of the person who received the credits.

Honda gets a lot of survey replies due to the popularity of Farmville, so they get what they paid for (market research). The survey site gets a cut of that, so that's how their business works. Farmville gets a further cut of that. The player gets some "free" credits. No one here is losing anything or the whole operation wouldn't make any sense.

I think that the last time I mentioned it to Insomniac he said that with the number of active users we had, we wouldn't be able to use it? I may be misremembering it, though.

jellysundae 06-10-2012 02:30 AM

Yeah, I can imagine it would totally not be worth someone's while to have surveys on here, with only a couple of hundred active accounts :ninja:

FrozenGlitterBug 06-16-2012 07:04 AM

So then why not make a spin the wheel game where you play once a day and minnies are one thing you can win?

jellysundae 06-17-2012 05:23 AM

Because there's no money to make anything like that  And if people had a way to earn Mennies without needing to donate, we'd get even less money, and the site might end up closing down. :(

Cora 06-17-2012 01:54 PM

nuuuu, I don't want to think like that T.T

I wish I could get into peoples minds and will them to donate.

Mystic 06-18-2012 04:08 AM

I don't like the idea of surveys myself. It just seems like a waste of time. I rather just donate. $2.50 isn't a lot of money, in fact most people have that much change just laying around the house so I really see no point in earning Mennies. The fact that you can send cash (bills) through the mail makes it so anyone, any age can also donate. That's just my opinion though.

Cardinal Biggles 06-28-2012 02:25 AM

A lot of those 'Complete Offers for Currency' set-ups involve making the user sign up for something in order to get a pay off. Some of which could be shady. I'd rather not put the users through that.

M i r o 06-28-2012 02:29 AM

Yeah. I've done those before and I hate having to subject my email to anymore "junk" mail.
But you never know, mene always finds unique ways to change things around and offer another variety of options.

It just depends on its gross income, if it increases in the future.

jellysundae 07-01-2012 12:14 PM

Yeah. Who knows what we might be able to offer in the future. But I'm pretty sure that any site that offers an alternate means to gain their RL cash currency, is going to be making enough money from donations to turn a profit. So they can afford to offer non-cash alternatives. As we don't even break even, it's not something that we could consider

Cherry Who? 07-01-2012 05:23 PM

Well like I said, Mene would still get paid for those things, just not from the user. Those offers for "free" currency don't result in loss for the site, the site gets paid, just not by the user.

jellysundae 07-01-2012 06:09 PM

Yeah, but we'd not get paid the amount that we weren't getting for those Mennies, would we.

Cherry Who? 07-01-2012 07:32 PM

It would be up to you. If the offer provider said "we'll give you fifty cents for every user that does this," then you give the user only fifty cents worth of mennies. Unless I misunderstood what you said?

jellysundae 07-01-2012 08:43 PM

Ah, I see :)

The Wandering Poet 08-18-2012 08:39 AM

Why would you want to do any of those virus infested surveys? @[email protected]
