I don't know how practical it is, but I think that updating the referrals would help increase traffic. Making gold rewards that increase as more people say you referred them would work. Possibly even just a "referral forum" where once someone signs up, and posts there who referred them, the both of you will get bonus gold? Possibly referral only items?

I also think that referral banners for peoples signatures should be made; Not particularly "Join this website!" but things like, "I <3 Menewsha" with Yumeh or someone on the side. Possibly a contest for the best Menewsha signature banners for public use on other sites could be made?

On another note: Sorting items by color and style in the shops. Like, instead of showing every item in every color on every page no matter what item it is, you show one item, in one color, and once you select it you can pick the colors you're going to buy/try on below the preview?

There was gold for the referral systems before and people abused it by creating accounts just to get the gold, if I remember correctly.

Shops are also a work in progress. I've used the search bar in the shops before to look for items that are a certain colour. It's not organized but it works for now.

And that's where only one account per IP comes in to effect? Even so, most people don't go through the effort to post in a fourm after singing up if they're just doing it for gold.

It's the people that claim the new accounts are "siblings" or "roommates" or whoever else that lives with that could get around the one account plus a mule per IP thing. Honestly, I personally don't see the point in abusing a system like that but I can't say the same for other people. I can't remember if it was Mene that had the referral system where the user referred had to post a certain amount of time before the gold was given or if it was another site. I know at one point Mene did have gold bonuses for referrals though.

I think that if there's a way to keep people from abusing it that it would maybe help get new users more active through the site, which would be a good thing. I'm all for a system like that as long as it's not being abused. Really, any way to get new members more active is a plus in my opinion.

Adding on to what Mystic stated, the other problem with referral systems is that its hard to entice new members to stay and actually post. If Menewsha gives you a benefit for bringing new users on, the site would also like to see those new users interact with the community and do more than just play games to increase forum activity.

But as you know, we are having multiple campaigns to gain new users at the moment. This is only adding onto the ongoing mission of improving the site and bringing in more users.

Yeah, it's that old thing of: you can bring a horse to water, but you can't make it drink.

I know how I want the referral system to work. But over the years I've come to the conclusion that referrals aren't much cop to be honest. I don't think they ever amount to much, sadly.

You're probably right about it not really being worth it, but for that problem maybe basing the referral reward on gold that the new user is generating from forum posts in the first couple of weeks would help?
