Hi, I would just like to offer a little suggestion concerning the test we must take before being able to post.

Shouldn't it be a lot harder since it is designed to weed out the spammers and idiots.

My suggestion is that instead of a test that is way to easy, we make it a argument a person must put forth as to why they should be allowed to post. By doing this the person in question can be evalutated for their ability to understand and follow the Menewsha rules.

There's a lready something like this implemented xD

Though I think it only happens once a month x.x;

the system should do it weekly xD

Or if people commit two mistakes or more, there will be a posting limit for them? xD

I like totally forgot to add this.

I got the idea from an MMORPG, Illarion (link has been dismantled). Okay I know what I just typed is against the rules, but have a look at what one has to do to get an account and then a character. I thought this was an absolutely brillant idea.

Also I am not encouraging anyone to join Illarion, in fact I discourage you from joining. It was such a new idea to me, if you create a site for a purpose, try everything to make sure that the site will only be used for that purpose.

the only test in the forums is for posting in the 'Fresh Meat' forum. all new members are not given this test, only those interested in viewing or posting in that forum.

daashi - i think you should remove the link and just type the site's name. :}
that may be considered advertising since the link isn't really needed.

i don't think this test weeds out spammers because the questions would be insanely easy. no one here is REALLY stupid they're just unacquainted with the laws of internet etiquette. :lol:

Actually my freshly created mule's first post was not in the Fresh Meat Forum and still had to take the test.

Also thanks for the advice, I will dismantle the link now.

Accually, I thought the test we had to take - the one from the fourteenth of October - was very insulting. I did NOT like haveing to take it. It made me feel VERY unwelcome on the site. And this is after only two people replied to my Fresh Meat topic - and one of them was a moderator quoting the rules to me. o.0 Really! I was beginning to wonder if menewsha is the welcoming place people say it is.

Well, if people spam, just tell them that's spam and delete the post. I do not like or agree with tests like that.

Perhaps the test could be something fun. They would make a sample post and then it would be measured on a spam meter to see how good it was. "Is your Fresh Meat topic Fresh or Spam? - Find out now!"

angel spirit girl - at the time, there were only about 10 or 11 mods on the staff with varying time zones. with the thousands of new members that joined in a period of like 3 days they handled things as best as they could. they did apologize if they seemed unfriendly in another thread, but their patience probably wore very thin from members who did not read the handful of site rules.

as for the test - i don't know, to me this feature doesn't seem needed. the spamming problem has died down immensely. the mods seem to be on top of it for now.

I figured that there were lots of new joiners that weekend. I joined on the eleventh because I heard about the ad insulting gaia. I wanted to see what was going on here. I guess I just got a dab jealous that other regular members were posting in other new members' threads lots more. I was confused and thought I was not really allowed to post in the thread again. I then went out of town on the weekend, and found the test when I came back. I don't mind the spam on gaia; it's the bots I can't stand.

Well, a moderator and a charity owner posting is better than the literal "read the stickies stupid noob! rape, rape, rape." I got as my first response to my first gaia account's welcome thread. o.0 Go figure! That account has that person on "ignore" now.

yeah people sort of blew the ad out of proportion. it WAS wrong to say "bored of gaia?.. etc" but that isn't saying gaia is terrible.

but anyway, don't feel like people here are mean or elitists. generally they're all very nice and as long as everyone is respectful and obeys all the rules you never really run across any problems. don't be afraid to socialize in popular threads. it's the best way to meet people.
