My friend Maery was homeschooled. You would never know unless she told you. I've always wanted to be homschooled, but we'd have to hire a private teacher and we can't afford that.
It sounds like a really different experience, although I've never really understood exactly how it worked~
@Bishie: I'm sorry about that. My mom is my teacher.
@Pyro: Well in Washington you simply have to file a declaration of your intent to homeschool, and have your kids tested once a year, but that's for your own records and nothing else. But in California you have to be a certified teacher, and you have to submit a curriculum that the state approves, and you have to follow that to the letter, and have your kids tested regularly. So, it really depends on where you live. =3 |
@[email protected] Wow, that sounds complicated...
Cat: Your teacher also has to have a teaching degree in Washington. My friend was going to get homeschooled but her mother doesn't have the degree so she couldn't.
That's not true. I just talked to my mom about it. You have to have to have taken a year of college, or pass a homeschool qualification course, but you do not have to have a teacher's degree. Not in the State of Washington. My mom works as a legal assistant and is up to date on all of the current Washington state laws about homeschooling.
= = Too many legal things for Pyro to understand...
my mom homeschools my brother in Texas, adn its really easy to do it there for some odd reason, I mean uber easy, unbelievely easy ><
I don't understand then why they told my friend her mother could not teach her. She went to college for several years.
Who were the people that told her that, do you know? Because the elementry school I used to go to tried to tell my mom that she couldn't homeschool us. They were wrong. Just like they were wrong about the WASL. Should have seen the looks on their faces when my mom showed them the law that says that no child is required by law to take the test. >=D *hates that test*
The WASL is a graduation requirement at my school, so you don't have to take it, but you won't graduate if you don't.
The school told them they couldn't, and I guess they went to some federal office who also told them her mother had to have it. |
= =?
OoO wow lots of legal talk going on in here xDD *agrees with pyro =.=*
This is why I won't study law!! D:
