yea >< for whatever reason when im adding on clothes not all the colours i want work, its annoying
im going to go and try doing them on like MS paint and see if its any better |
I used to be awesome about doing pixel art. and I used paint too. I'm not sure if I don't have the skill or not, I just lack the want to.
|
Ah see I personally prefer photoshop for pixeling. xD Just cause it's easier to get colors. :P
|
Im using photoshop actually
but i think i found a different setting that should give me more colours <3 I'm going to experiment a bit more tomorrow and see if what i found works better or not cause the two i've made so far aren't as colourful as i want them to be but um what do you do for colours? what setting do you have them? I'm also wondering if file types make any different since im using pre-made bases |
Ah, well generally I pull the colors straight from the items that I'm trying to pixel. But for my own personal ones, I use 5 types. Super Light, Light, Middle, Dark, Very Dark.
Everything is set to RGB color, transparent background. |
hmm what do you mean by the colour types?
when i try to use different shades of a colour it always appears as the same colour there isnt any gradual change and when i try and set everything to RGB colour my pen took gets all funky for what ever reason plus photoshop automatically sets it as indexed coloures none of the tutorials i've looked at seem to help me with this stuff http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e1...lexapixel2.gifhttp://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e1...pixelAlexa.gif these are the two i've done and it was really hard to colour them the way i wanted |
Then it probably means you're putting enough of a change.
Pen? Aren't you using the pencil? Oh! You probably want to do dittering. |
enough of a change? but how can i tell if i have or not seems like a try about 10 different colours before one actually works
and yes i mean pencil tool >< and whats dittering? btw thanks for helping me with this >< i have so many questions im thinking about checking out the book store to see if they have anything that might help |
This is an example of what my pallet would look like
http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...Me/pallets.gif It's about 5-6 colors. Some, like when doing gold color requires more like the last line. Dittering allows you blend shades of color without using another color. It's basically consist of making a checkboard pattern. Hmmm I think you can see it on this one: http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...0Me/Neku-2.gif Haha one of my examples when I was probably dittering a little too much. The hair is a pretty good example. You don't always need to ditter, usually when it's a smaller item there's no need to. |
oooooh i remember seeing dittering in a tutorial lol just forgot the name
as for your pallett do you just hope a shade will work? do you keep changing it little bit by little bit till a shade works? i dont think im explaining this really well either >< like i had wanted a grey once but when i went to go colour it was showing up brown |
Well most of my pallets are pulled straight from the items I'm trying to recreate. So, mene's pallets actually. But yeah, it's all trial by error actually.
Grey is actually really hard to pixel. You want probably want White, Light Grey, Grey, Dark Grey. |

*gasp* Pretty!
You're good! |
THANKS <3 it took like 4 hours X_X when i get around to opening a pixel shop i think im only going to take 1 order at a time or something >>
|
It's very nice <3
Yeah it can be time consuming. That's why I only do smaller bases. They go a little bit faster. :P |
i might look into offering a smaller base but we'll see how things go with this one first then look into expanding :P
|
*nods* it's a good way. No better way then to test the waters. :3 Haha I might have to order from you!
|
yay! im going to wait until after the event to open anything >> i want to enter the art contest with something new so i need to work on that , then finish my commissions then make more doll samples XD
|
You could open a freebies shop, or even a regular shop during the event. :3
|
i could but i have enough to do >> i do need to sleep and go to work
and i dont think a freebie shop is a good idea giving how long it takes me to make dolls lol i'd only have time to do maybe 3 before the event is over on that note though can i use your avi to practice? |
*nods* It's all good practice. Events get more publicity as well so it's a good way to test prices, see if people like your stuff... as you can tell I like the trial by error practice... xD
Sure thing! *would love that. :3 Haha if you don't like what I'm wearing, I got a bunch more saved in my picture albums in my profile. |
i might do a freebie thing next event
i dont mind what your wearing at all, nice and simple but i might go peek at your profile too i'll let you know what i end up doing |
