i still like both. but usually i choose the manga over the anime... tho there are occasions where i think the anime is really good too. for example, recently i really liked "kuroshitsuji" (the black butler). ^^;

Yeah, I've only had one or two cases where I enjoyed the anime more than the manga. Vampire Knight was one of them.
I've never watched that. xD I tend to stray away from the popular anime and stuff like that because I see so much fanart of it on dA that I get tired of it.

i didn't actually watch vampire knight... i did read parts of the manga, then i stopped. ^^;
well, i usually don't particular follow anything major either, but i like the concept of the demon butler... so i went for it. actually i think when i first watched it, i didn't know it had such a huge hype. XD i tend to shy away from stuff like naruto or bleach. bleach was promising when it first came out, but when it started having way too many episodes... i decided, "forget it". XD

The manga is really confusing. ^^; I read 4 volumes of it and I barely understood what was going on. The anime is much better to follow.
Oh yeah? xD I never got into Naruto or Bleach either. Same with One Piece.

i understood the manga... well, at least what i read of it. ^^; but i'm not sure how far i went. ^^;
i'm not into one piece either, but partially cuz it's not the style of art that i like. ^^;

I went as far as reading scanlations online (probably not a good idea) and it got really confusing.
Usually I don't decide not to watch something because of the art style. xD It's usually if I like the plot or the characters that gets me into it.

oh, i mainly read scanlations. i used to read japanese manga... but now i'm too lazy to go through dictionaries anymore... plus too time-consuming on time that i don't have. ^^;
well, for me, it's plot and charas... but art style counts too. so if it has a good plot and charas with an art style i don't like, i might just read summaries about it. however, if i like the art but not the plot, i don't bother at all. ^^;

Oh yeah, scanlations are usually good, but I mean the one I had, it wasn't that great. It was really confusing and the english didn't seem all that accurate. ^^;
Well I'm not gonna lie, if I don't like the art style I probably won't look into a manga much. If I like the art and not the plot then I won't read it either. The art style probably makes up 25% of me reading a manga. I think 45% is the plot and 30% is if I like the characters.

that's true. sometimes things get lost in translation. >.< definitely the anime "ponyo" had some of that. -_-
i don't know my percentages but probably around what you described. XD

Well I wasn't trying to be accurate with my percentages at first, but it seems kind of accurate even though. XD

it wasn't bad. just a few things where we go, "that's a little weird". but in general, it was good. i'd prefer if i could've watched it in japanese with fansubs (cuz good ones are usually better than american translations). ^^;
lol. whichever works is usually waht i say. XD

That makes me think of the Twilight
I have a feeling that they talk about a few things and mention quite a bit of stuff that you would have no idea what they meant unless you had read the book.

i don't remember the specifics. not necessarily a joke, but more like it's a saying that we know japanese people wouldn't say. cuz her fiance is half japanese, and we both learned japanese in high school and college. ^^;
suona ::
actually no idea about that. i watched the movie. wasn't really confused by it or what not. and i never read the book. ^^;

I think they just mentioned things that weren't in the movie, but were in the book
So if you hadn't read the book then you may have just ignored it and thought you missed something. Not sure.
