OK, so sorry about leaving so abruptly before. I lost track of time until my boyfriend came
into the room and said 'are you going to work today?' lol.

Anyhow. Please bare with this post, it's gonna be a long one i feel. I'm gonna brake down
our options and hopefully we can agree on something that works for you, because despite my
trepidation over doing the details, i really feel like this image could become a highlight in
my gallery when all's said and done.

Digital Sketch: This would be something i would sketch either on the computer or in RL then scan
into my computer, make the line work transparent and color underneath it.

the positives:
-It will only cost 800g (less then a digital)
-you'll get the full detail and visual reference you're looking for
-It will probably only take about a week to finish

the negatives:
-The linework will not have a smooth appeal to it
-The coloring will be of an airbrush/painter style, not my usuall gradient (again, smoothness)
-The linework will not be colored
-The image will have an overall 'rough' look to it as apposed to my usuall polished style.

examples:
ex1
ex 2
ex 3
ex 4

Digital Coloring : This is like the digital coloring i did in your myla commission.

The positives:
-The linework will be very smooth and colored
-The coloring will be very smooth and gradiented

The negatives:
- It will be expensive, about 2000g. The price of two digitals.
- It will take a long time, 1month to 1/12 month.
- On detailed digital lineworks i often lose my patience and interest, there is always the possibility of quality loss do to my rushing.

examples:
all digital examples on front page.
Here are examples of where i lose patience in the linework of a detailed digital peice:
Click
R rated click

waist up Digital/ marker

Positives:
- lower price (see front page)
- Full quality gauranteed
- It would be done in a decent amount of time

Negatives:
- You will not get the full vissual reference you are looking for

Two part Marker image : In this case i would do a sketch either on the computer or IRL then scan it into my computer, enlarge it, and print it out on two separate pieces of paper, then either finish it as two seperate pictures, or transfer it to a MUCH larger piece of bristol board.

positives:
- Getting the full vissual reference you are looking for
- little quality lost.

Negatives:
-The scans will not match up perfectly, leaving a very small 'seam' in the picture
- If i color on two seperate pages, the colors and brush strokes have the chance of not properly aligning, creating another seam. this can be virtually all erased and mended on photoshop, but i can't promise that it will disapear completely.
- It would be double the cost of a marker peice, 1600g
- It would take about 2 weeks - a month to finish

Examples:
This is an example of the seam (the picture is a watercolor) Click

Digital with background : In this i would draw your character with, say, half of the clothes on, and the rest somewhere in the bg. (hanging from a coat rack, thrown ona chair, in a closet, on the floor).

Positives:
-All her attire would be visually represented
- Quality gauranteed
- It would be a good 'story' picture (IE, a picture that tells a story or looks like it came from a story)

Negatives :
- Your character wouldn't be shown in how she looks wearing all of her gear
- The price would be 1,500g
- It would still take about a month to finish
- Some items wouldn't be very easy to decipher because of being crumpled/in the distance

examples:
i don't really have any. This one is CLOSE, but there would be more to it.:
Lol bad picture

Sounds good Jitsumi, i love your character. ^_^ If i get my digital done tonight i'll start
a sketch up. She'll be right up my alley to draw and color, My own personaly project revolves
around blue & green Jungle Trolls and dark sienna - gray skinned Wood elves ^_^

Lucida

Yup, added you to the list ^_^ I'll try to do your sketch tomarow at work durring lunch break.
It's 300g for a full body sketch of one character.

lol. Nope, i haven't been able to post on Menewsha for the past day and a half. Something about a server transfer or something.

Drache-Lehre 06-20-2007 12:39 AM

Speechless, absolutely speechless! *ooggly eyes* I'll try though... Wow, is a good start I would think. Here I thought that you did a perfect job with Myla, still do but this one, oh dear, this one totally tops that because you ACTUALLY got her colors right. That brings a tear to my eye. It pains me to see someone use the wrong tones, you've no idea so this, is really to die for and you got the markings good too. ^^ I love all of it but the tummy a bit more since she looks.. fit. XDDD As she is supposed to be too so this is really great. THANK YOU SO VERY VERY MUCH. Now I am all the more eager to get my Myla outfit idea from ya too, but still gotta decide on what. Hehe.

Now onto the Myla piece ideas. *re-reads em at least 5 times xD*

For the Digital Sketch:
Out of the four examples you give, if you was to do the same as THIS one for mine, full body with all the detail and a rough sketch coloring, I would be fine with this. Because even though its not top quality, you can still make out everything easily and thats what I want. It doesn't have to be top notch quality like you did for Myla and the recent Heshana since I am just right now, seeking a good visual reference to help express what I want for her main outfit and can always worry about trying to get one of higher quality after I have the reference one.

Once I can get this, I'll try to get better quality rather it be just a head shot, waist or one with a background.

For the Digital Coloring:
Once I get a digital sketch, I'll be perfectly fine in getting this even with details a bit less or coloring slightly rushed. I like how you color so I'd be willing to pay the price and wait however long is needed.

For the Markers:
For now I think I'll just go with a we'll see after I can get the digital ones. ^__^ Or rather getting the overall basic outfit reference made. I do love traditional media over digital but in this case if digital helps to make seeing details for the outfit easier then digital will be my first choices to at least get arts for that THEN once already have the visuals can work for the fun of markers. <3

Soo for now since the digital is closed as I know ya got alot to do for the con, I'd like to just order a sketch of this piece to see how it all will actually look put together. This doesn't have to be colored (unless thats how you wish to do the digital). I say this so if that affects the paper you use xP but other wise right now just a sketch will do to see if the outfit is what I actually like once to paper or if I need to make alterations.

Okayyy sorry for the length. ^^;; Now TAG YOUR IT!

Drache-Lehre 06-20-2007 12:40 AM

Now to hop on mule since I am a bit short right now so that I can pay ya. I think it will be 700 difference now. *since you raises price and I already paid 300*

Jitsumi1221 06-20-2007 01:01 AM

yay! i'm so glad your keen on doing A'iel <3 muhahaha maybe i can get you to do my other chars a bit later as well <3 i have a drow elf as well ^.~ but i dont get her drawn much ^o^ as well as verdi and Cyp (but they arent so much oddly toned as er . . . colorful)

excelent ^_^ I'm glad you like the coloring on the Heshana picture, i just used a color sample tool to pick 3 tones off of the reference picture you already have. It seemed a little ... neon... for my tastes when put next to the toned down earth colors of the leather and bones, but after i added in a bg i have to say i was rather happy with the results. I hate DA though, i got a million friggin favorites on the image but only 1 comment. I punch DA in it's collective face.

oh yeah, i LOOOOOOVED coloring her stomache area, you have no idea. lol. I did the first 2 layers of shading and called my boyfriend in to show him, and said something like "Look, omg, check out this anatomy. it's so fun!'
sorry, stroking my own ego a little. heh. i'm probably the most egocentric artist you'll meet. ^_^'

But yeah, that plan sounds good. I'll start sketching ... lets see... i've got Jitsu's almost sketched out completely.. i dunno, maybe within the next 2-3 days? Now, did you want just a sketch or a digital colored sketch?

lol. omg, a drow? really? that's awsome. I'm reading the R A Salvator books currently, have you read them?

i like colorfull ^_^

Jitsumi1221 06-20-2007 01:13 AM

indeed i have! drizzt !!! love love him! i actually have a char that uses 2 scimitars as well, but shes a petite little fireball (ewell a very jewel tones one) and i disigned her blades ^o^ i like colorful chars <3

Drache-Lehre 06-20-2007 01:52 AM

Yeah that can happen when using purple with bone shades. xD But this character is based off my favorites - favor color, favorite species and abilities. ^^ But I love it because just makes one hell of a unique character. XD Don't see many black and purple - NOTHING BUT black and purple. Many add white to the mix.

Yup, thats DA for ya. ^^;; Then again most of those type of art sites are that way. Sheezy too. Not sure about FurAffinity or the others I've seen *forgot now* because I am not active.

I DID COMMENT THOUGH, THEN I faved. *sticks tongue out* And lol, thats fine. I think its good for an artist to be PROUD and well AWARE of their skill. I rather see an artist praise themselves *just not overdoing it mind you* then one that is really great and has no faith in themselves. Its kinda annoying. >.>;

I am thrilled you had fun though. I really am. XDD

Oh, if I can get a digital colored sketch I'll take that. X3 I thought that option was closed though. o_O Thus in short this one - its up to you. I'll pay either way of course. Not asking for favors or freebies. =P

One more thing - THANK YOU AGAIN. <33 And for this too. You've NO IDEA how much you are helping and making me unable to stop smiling. LOL.

*twirls* =3

Mmmm, Drizzt. Mad love for that elf boy; he steals my heart all the time. I've tried to do so many fan art pictures of him, but I can never seem to capture his essence. I want to draw him on the ship. D:

Jitsumi1221 06-20-2007 07:30 PM

hahah i like the barbarian dude best *forgets his name* hes so cool <3 lol drizzt is pretty awesome as well but i haven't read far enough into all his stories yet ; ; only . . . 5?

Navi 06-20-2007 07:33 PM

Wulfgar! ^_^

I've read all... oh... *counts the books on her shelf* 15-16 books? Hehe ^^; I'm also a big fan of Jarlaxle (dunno if you've encountered him yet)

Jitsumi1221 06-20-2007 07:43 PM

no i dont think i have yet? only on the book where they are all leaving to go find the caves of the dwarves? the first one where Entreri is introduced ^^

Navi 06-20-2007 07:44 PM

Rawr, yeah Entreri is hawt too. XD I should draw all of them... someday someday... hehe

Jitsumi1221 06-20-2007 07:49 PM

hahah i should too.. would be interesting practice since they are all male ^o^

navi i forgot to ask, what color are Jude's shoes?

Navi 06-20-2007 08:03 PM

I believe the are black. =3

Jitsumi1221 06-20-2007 08:14 PM

*snort* you believe? hes you're oc *snort snort* thats ironic. lol well im nearly done with Jude.. need to do that sash thinger and his hand gloves and then its off to tackle the next dude ^^

Navi 06-20-2007 08:38 PM

Yeah, I say I believe because ... well I've only really done them in black and white.. I don't know if they would be like a dark brown... so black is good. I'll go with black. ;D
