OMG D8< That is so not cool! I don't remember the exact date I got my GBA,but it was after my Birthday because I bought it with my birthday munny,along with Pokemon Ruby,I believe O: Yeah,it rocks,one of my favorite versions :3 Prolly is my favorite version D: It's so good~ :3

@Iro: always started with the firetype starter. it made the game the hardest but to me they had the best moves and nice evolutions ( minus combusken/ blaziken and the whole damn chimchar line)

Seriously, the Pokemon Gold version I played was only legible for the first two towns. And after that, everything was whacked! X_x;

I am a stubborn grinder when it comes to leveling. I can stay in the same area for a very long time just to train/hunt for a pokemon. I remember in the first few games, I restarted the game goodness knows how many times just to capture the three legendary birds. They kept on dying. *swt*

I picked Bulbasaur by choice when I first started, so it sort of stuck. Though I chose Totodile in Gold, and after that it was mostly water types I chose. Totodile was just ultra-powered. It's water and it BLOCKS electricity. Seriously.

Using Chikorita was TORTURE in the beginning, but when leveled, its even more effective than Typhlosion. Grass is WAY under-rated after Pokemon Blue. Seriously, the starter grass types seems to be the weakest, even in Pokemon Leaf Green! What more with their new weakness to wind.

Speaking of fire-types, one of my all time favourite Pokemon are Ninetails and Rapidash. For some reason, I feel that some of the newer ones are hideous. But it might just be my preference. '___';

Well, yeah, the GBA. I got it while I was on a holiday in the states, since it's cheaper there. At least I have my PS2. I wonder if I am able to get a DS. XD;

To be honest, I actually pick the Pokemon that I appeals the best to me (mostly the outer look XD).
All I remember was that Chirokita was rather difficult to train in the beginning because of the bird-types and Bellsprouts. lol

Usually when I finish a game and I like it enough to restart I'll select a different Pokemon, so I've pretty much tried a bit of every starter Pokemon, especially for the first few games. ^__^

Blaziken? I actually find many people liking Chimchar the best among the Pokemon Diamond/Pearl starter Pokemon. O.o
(Though I never liked Chimchar cause it's well... not appealing. XD)

@ Iro Blaziken the very ugly final evolution of Torchik(sp). it looks like a badly done chicken suit. it's only saving grace is that as a fire flying it fufilled half my needs and it's sky uppercut move meant flying types couldn't avoid me.

chimchar line is ugly, i do not care about power or potential later use, they are ugly as sin to me.

Don't really like any of the new starters evolved forms. however the little penguin dude prinpulp(?) is cute on his own.

I actually foudn my chikorita easy to train, mind you I have this bad habit of having two high level poekmon and the rest of my team is like 8 levels below them. So I had chikorita plus my main support pokemon whom i level like whoa then i'd do the old switch out routine for chikorita till she got powerfull enough to hold her own and bam we were off.

mm back in the days of red and blue i used to spend like an hour trying to catch a nidoran at the start of the game. thoughs buggers were useless in the first two gyms but then they were like my greatest helper.

Starter Pokemons are usually adorable. Usually may be the keyword. Chimchar was well... not up to the starter Pokemon cute standards, imo. ^_^;

I loved Charizard. ;o;

My problem is that I like one hit K.O. attacks. Low leveled, even with level 3 Bellsprouts, a level 8 Chikorita had to tackle twice. XD;

That might be Piplup, Prinpulp is it's evolved form. Piplup was just adorable. It reminded me a little of Torchic in blue. lol Prinpulp and Empoleon, though... just looked like over-sized penguins. rofl

Oh, I've replayed Pokemon blue SO many times I can tell you what I do from start till end. When I first start, I will try catching a level 5 or higher (7 preferably) Pidgey. Never bothered about the Rattatas here. Could be found anywhere else, way higher in levels. My starter Pokemon shall ALWAYS be two levels higher than the others. Then after that, it's usually a male Nidoran. In the forest, I'll keep walking in the forest until I encounter and capture a Pikachu. And capture a Caterpie too, in the process (status ailment attacks w00t).

A Lickitung with no lick?! Blasphemy!

Blaziken was powerful but ugly . still it stayed on my team becuase sky uppercut was a sweet move.

Charizard was the happiness of my early teams. Followed closely by ditto which if high enough leveled is an unstoppable little bugger, plus good for breeding.

I agree chimchar not the typical cute. Turtwig isn't bad it's just sort of bland really and forgettable.

Ahh yes piplup it's cute and I wanna snuggle it. in the series it's a bit retardedly overpowered though. it seems like this entire new regions pokemon could kill all the old region's pokemon in one attack.

i can still get through all the caves and victory road in the old games without actually looking at the screen . my fingers have memory. ( which says something about my addiction)

hmm lesse I usually had spearow and pidgey if possible since attacks varied. Rattata becuase it's fang attacks were bitches later and becuase the one you train to say level 10 actually has higher stats than the wild one you catch at level 10 .

grabbed nidoran and from there my team varied though depending on the version I played a bellsprout or an oddish usually made it way on the team.

course by the time i got to the elite 4 my team was like

unless i had been using experience share or experience all which helped even stuff out a bit.

yeah i know it wasn't just that game either like glitch or anything. for soem reason in that first generation of games it did not have that attack.

I've never actually watched the Pokemon series further than Johto (as it didn't show on the local television until some years later, when my interest in anime sort of dropped. =P). Yeah, the old map for Blue, Red and Yellow, pretty much memorized. XD
Pokemon Ruby's was easy too. I find that one a rather short game, actually, even when compared to the early games!

Ah, yes, Oddish. How could I forget about Oddish? When I am able to first capture Oddish, my Butterfree usually goes back into storage. lol
Oddish has much better attacks. And the only ailment I use regularly was Sleep Powder. XD

Elite 4? When I reach there, my starter would have to be at LEAST level 56. The rest of the Pokemon would be 2 levels lower, of course.

I believe my usual Elite Four team before I obtain Mewtwo would be;

Venusaur/Charizard
Kadabra
Vileplume
Vaporean
Raichu
Dugtrio

Hmm... I'm not too sure about the earlier game's Lickitung, as I never bothered leveling it up (they mostly appear for me outside Pewter City, near the Onyx Cave; and usually level 5-7).

But in the later games, when lick actually PARALYZES, that was when I felt the pains of fighting a Lickitung. They have such high defense too. XD
