Face, hair and tattoo references

The thing that ties his hair at the back is actually some sort of metal wire-ish piece. Therefore solid and not particularly the soft string sort.

Tattoo and Earrings

The earrings are actually the clip-on sort. It's actually a broad ring with a tiny cross hanging on small chain links. You may design the earrings as you wish (patterns and all), but the basic shape of them should remain.

Also, his neck, shoulder and left hands actually has markings too. But I'll bother to draw those another day. =]

Full-body/Clothing references

OR you can draw this version of his clothings. It is the second version of his clothes before I modified it (yet again; can't decide which one is better).

The inner loose robe: [x]

NOTE: The second set of clothings are chibi scaled, so er, scale them appropriately if you're drawing that one real sized. xD The patterns on the clothings wherever and whatever may be modified as you wish, but the general idea and shape of the clothings should be about there. ^^

Other details:
He's fanged. Not the vampire sort of fangs, the tear-flesh raw sort of fangs. XD
Also, the penciled details on the chibi full-body (the wings, the halo AND the tail as well as the inner patterns) are not required if you do not want to, cause it's tricky.
If you want to draw them anyway, he has three pairs of wings, it's a little skeletal looking and the wings are fluffy at the part where they begin and grows more crow-like to the end.

COLOUR and OTHER REFERENCES:

For the outer robes, I have not decided for an actual colour yet, so feel free to experiment. Though dark red somewhere in there is good.

Hair colour: [x]
Mainly dark red stripped with black. Therefore, the dark red is quite close to the colour of black in the dark at the edges. Several white-grey strips at the fringe. ONLY on the front.

Eye colour: Yellow. Whitish glowy. Slitted lightly.

Skin colour: Slightly tanned. Not pale, slightly darker than normal, but not bronze tan either.

Ears: Pointed. More demon style pointed than elven.

Other facial details: Fangs. Not too long, but still slightly noticable fangs. And the tattoo on the left side of his face. Is it possible to pull off a serenely wicked facial expression? XD

Wings: Three pairs. The main one the largest. Try to make them skeletal looking if you could. About the feathers, the part where it starts is like those normal feather fluff white, then it turns more crow-like at the end. I'm not very good at drawing wings. ^_^;
Colour: Charred. Basically, just picture it as if it WAS white before. Just slightly burned on the edges. The tips are black (charred) and as it fades in toward the base (where the feathers start) of the feathers, it tints red (little smudges and patches) like dried blood, but the dirty white ends could be seen as well.

Claws: He has claws.Not overly long but still sharp. About 1 inch or slighty longer?

Tail: Has a tail too. Pointed at the end. Though not necessary.

Halo: Has a halo as well. *snicker* Though I'd like it better for it to look more of a light haloing his head (bright holy light from the back?) rather than the classic ring shaped halos. Though you could do that if you find it more convenient. :)

NOTE: As I've mentioned before, you could dismiss the wings, halo and tail if you want too. The most important part for me are the main details and clothings, really. ^^

Hehe Xaevan has a long and complicated back story. If I added that in, no matter how summarized I make it, I would still be adding another 2k+ of words, so I didn't. *grin*

Speaking of being based of avatars, my main account avatar on these forums ALWAYS have dark red hair and a red, black, white and gold colour scheme. They're all based of Xaevan, very loosely. xD

You can do that too. I'm sure it'll turn out looking pretty awesome. 8)
