Yeah and for me... they are all kind of "novelty" artists I would say? Like their names are bigger than their art. Maybe that's a horrible thing for me to say, but for some of the artists that get the higher items I don't see the draw. But then there are others that I definitely think get what they deserve. :]

Yeah, I agree. But that's no different that Gaia. Sometimes I see users that are all, 'lolz, 500k for a sh*tty headshot that took me five minutes and has no anatomy, plzkthx'. And because they're so well known, their slots fill in five minutes, and half the time they don't even do the order, they go open another shop/auction. D= Not cool.
I met a lot of artists on there under pricing who were really nice, though. <33 Like, super talented people only asking for 200g when the going rate was 2k+. XD No idea what it is now. |

omg, yeah! I could never start another auction unless I had the work done - I think there might have been ONE time where I did that. But yeah, ugh.

Yes, I've gotten that too. And I'm afraid I might have done that to some people in the past. ;_; though never as bad as some I've seen.
EDIT: The worst commission I ever bought was a sketch for $40 - a sketch. the guy's samples were amazing and he gave me nothing more than a fleshed out stick figure that was stiff and didn't look anything like my character. |

Yeah, it was horrible. The same thing happened to my friend. I didn't demand a refund because I was sitting directly across him in the convention's artist's alley... I don't know why I didn't - probably because it seemed so official with his form and everything. I don't know. I'm so leary to order a RL commission now unless I know the artist or have seen some of the commissions the artist I'm thinking of commissioning has done.
@Crys: OMG, you hit the nail on the head with the samples + commission! There are sometimes where I'm just uninspired or in an art block and can't get a decent sketch out and feel horrible because I'm taking so long. |
