..::Information::..
Some information about the world in which Lazuli is set in.

The World

  • Just behind the mirror, just out of your glance, lies a hidden glowing place where a thousand gardens flourish, safeguarding a fairy species called the Llithe. The Llithe are small, fragile peaceful winged creatures made of light and magic, and spend their time caring and attending to their beautiful garden.

However, soon the Llithe begin to notice shadows in their garden.. shadows borne by the Whisperers. The Whisperers are dark fairies cast away from their home, and they seek brightness and light, and the brilliance of the Thousand Gardens caught the attention of their inky eyes. And so they stole into the garden one by one, each slowly consuming the light of the garden into starless shadows that gives them comfort.

Soon, the Llithe became aware of the withering flowers in the mysterious shadows, and the Whisperers of the glare in the sun. It will soon be a matter of time before the two faerie families are locked in a struggle that will change the face of the Thousand Gardens for all time.

( the above is an excerpt from A Thousand Gardens main page, which can be found here)

The Race

  • The Whisperers are dark-winged faeries who were banished from their homeland for unknown reasons. Like the Llithe, each Whisperer has a distinct skill and some have magical powers. They are similar to the Llithe, in that they also go through two stages before reaching adulthood.

The Whisperers are more comfortable in the shadows and dark, but would not object to going into the sunlight. Though often perceived to be gloomy and grim, the Whisperers are kind folk who loves peace just like any other. They just happen to be introverted and shy. Some also enjoy pranks and jokes.

There are, however, powerful and evil Whisperers who were blessed with the power of Shadow Magic, bent on destroying all that is brilliant and beautiful. Fortunately, they are yet to be found in the Thousand Gardens. But those in the Gardens know about the threat of those with Shadow Magic, and are wary of these faeries.

..::Character profile::..

Name: Lazuli, whisperer of Willowtear
Gender: Male
Current stage: Young adult
Hair: Black, and extremely long
Eyes: Blue
General color: Blue
Skill: Willowtear - When he cries, his tears form into jewels, but if they touch water, they melt immediately.
Personality: Quiet and shy, Lazuli hates being in the center of attention. He'd love to make some friends, but when he somehow gets an occasion, he just doesn't know how to use it. He's very lonely, but also aware of the fact, that it's at least a bit of his own fault in it. Clumsy, and cute in his clumsyness, when embarrased can even fell down without any outside help xD.
Stages:

Egg

  • Faerie eggs are like little jewels -- very small and fragile, but very beautiful and promising! Don't worry, other characters will care for them and look after them, making sure they are safe.

Faerie eggs, while not able to move very much or very well, do have some abilities that allow you to interact with them. They are empathic, and project their emotions on their guardian. So, a guardian would be able to know if the faerie inside the egg was happy or sad, scared or elated. Eggs also tend to shake and the wings on them will sometimes flutter in an attempt to fly.

Soon enough though, they will be able to take to the sky...

an excerpt from A Thousand Gardens

Young adult

  • The young adult Llithe and Whisperers are finally blessed with their skill and are slowly reshaping their bodies to suit it.. They look unsure and nervous at first, but you can see how they will grow into gorgeous adults soon!

The Young Adult stage should be focused on the faerie being blessed with his or her skill, and then learning how to use it. This stage should also focus on interactions between the faerie and the world around it, as well as interactions between faeries. This is a very impressionable stage, so great care should be taken when roleplaying. You just never know what may happen with your character.

When the Fateseer scrys and sees that the faerie is ready to grow, she will contact that fae and send it on a mission -- a growth quest. Once it is complete, the faerie will return to the Oracle for their reward.

_____________..::Prompt response, that was added to the ordering of Lazuli::..
__________________________________________________ __________________23/03/2007
  • It was early evening, and Lazuli was slowly getting tired of this all. He heard about a party held in one of the distant gardens, and even got an invitation! He was so happy with it, it's reallly rare for the Llithe to invite one of his kind! It was the first time he got excited so much... Got his best clothes ready, and a small gift for everyone, with pearl jewelry... That was one of the few things he could do right, and he hoped that everyone will like it...
But he never got to know. Because when he arrived to the garden from the invitation, it was empty.
"...Hello...? Anybody here...?" He kept asking, flying around, and hoping it's only a prank, and that the faeries are just hiding somewhere and observing him panicking like that... But finally he realised, that the only reason for it was, that there never was supposed to be any party. They were just making fun of him.
And then it started raining. Lazuli sighed, and sat on the nearest rock. His whole body, his best clothes, getting soaked within seconds. And small pearls falling down from his eyes. Being who he was, he couldn't even hide his tears in the rain...
And then, he heard a quiet flutter, from the bushes right next to him...
"...Who...who's there?" He quickly brushed away the teary pearls from his face, and tried to smile, though right now he was scared too much tu succeed... When the sound was heared again, he almost fell off the stone. But he couldn't just...sit like that! Curiousity was fighting with fear in his head, and finally won, as the young whisperer stood up and moved next to the bushes. He brushed some of the twigs away, and saw...
...an egg. A small, white egg with tiny wings, decorated with pure ribbons. And one of those wings was bent under an unnatural angle.... The second one was fluttering from time to time, weak, and slow...The shell was pretty dirty, with some dust on it... Poor thing must've lie here really long...
Without a moment hesitation, Lazuli kneeled down and took the egg into his arms, covering it from the rain with his robes. His eyes moved around quickly, spotted a large tree, and ran towards it, wanting only to protect this little thing from the rain. Running in the rain isn't the best idea. He tripped in a puddle, and started falling down..in the last moment shifting his body, so he wouldn't land on the egg. The boy stood up immediately, and continued towards the tree, finally able to sit in a rainless place. He released the egg from the robes, and slowly touched it's hurt wing....
"Hush..." He spoke, as the other one fluttered. "It might hurt a bit...but I must fix it, or you will never be able to fly..."
With these words, he put his second hand on the wing, and quickly moved the broken bone to the right place. Then he took a few larger twigs, and fixed them to the wing with its ribbons.
"Here...wasn't that bad, was it?" He smiled, and tried to clean the egg's shell with the robe he had on. The monotonous moves let his mind flow away, and his thoughts fly free...
"At least good for you that I came, little one..." He smiled softly, continuing the slow movement. "Who knows how long you were there... And who knows how long you would be...At least this time I could do something useful..." The boy left a quiet sigh, and paused for a moment. "I wonder why wasn't anyone waiting for you... You must've felt really sad there...I remember myself, when I first opened my eyes, and saw a smiling Llithe above me...and felt, that it was her presence accompanying me for the whole time I was an egg... I still sometimes visit her... But she's one of the few that talks to me..." He shook his head, and covered his eyes, trying to hold back the pearls escaping them. He once again remembered his today's excitement, and how his hope to finally find company, got shattered... He hugged the egg on his knees, trying to calm down himself, but knowing already that he would fail... "Pray that you won't be one of us, cursed folk, little one... Or you will continue being alone, just as I am..."
Crying, he didn't noticed the strong light that suddenly flashed... And didn't react, till he felt a small hand on his cheek.... He raised his eyes, surprised, and saw a pure-white skinned whisperer child, with white hair and red eyes. The child smiled to him, and fluttered with one of his wings... The second one was still broken.
"But now I am with you." The child smiled, and hugged him tightly.
..And he was never to be alone, ever, again.

Few days later, Lazuli found the invitation from that day. And reading it again, he noticed a sentence written with tiny font, at the very end...
In case of a rain, the party will be held two gardens north.

__________________________________________________ __________________08/04/2007
  • In the middle of the night it happened, slowly and fast at the same time. Slowly if you observed the scene, mysterious act in the darkness... Which, if you noticed the time, lasted only for few minutes.
The wind almost disappeared that day in the First Garden, and all animal voices ceased. And then, -it- happened.
Suddenly, something felt on the ground, quickly disappearing in the tall grass. Only a moment later, another one. And then third. And out of nowhere, tens and hundreds of...things? started falling from the sky, making a small hill. It was incredible, because, in fact, what was raining right now were priceless gems. It took a minute or two for the small hill to reach a llithe's knee. and then, a bigger one appeared...only it wasn't a gem. It was a sapphire-color egg, with a pair of big, swan-like wings, in similar sapphire color, but with green feather tips. It fluttered quickly, as if a bit desoriented, and landed on the pile of gems. It fluttered once again, and then the wings rested slowly on the shell. The new egg waited to be found.

  • Caer: As she strolled around enjoying the fresh, perfumed air of the garden, Caer noticed a bright sparkle in the corner of her eye. As she followed it, she saw that there was something glittering brilliantly beneath some shrubs.

As Caer approached, she saw a beautiful Whisperer egg nestled in a pile of small jewels. Gently, she reached and caressed the egg.

A soft humming sound caught Caer's attention and she saw another glitter beneath a tree. "Dalia.." she breathed excitedly. "I think I found them!"

Lazuli: The egg fluttered its wings slowly, when the llithe's hand touched it. As if it was surprised...well, it definetely was... It was the first time it felt someone else's touch.
Its wings suddenly froze, and then fluttered again, feeling her excitement. It was probably the equivalent of saying 'who? me?' in an only way the egg could express it.

Dalia: Meanwhile, Dalia had quickly flown over to Caer as she found the sapphire blue egg laying atop a pile of rare gems. "Wow Caer, what do you think it is!? Do you think it's a Llithe? What kind of power could it have? I've never seen an egg appear on top of a pile of gems like this..."

_______________________________..::Lazuli is born::..
__________________________________________________ __________________11/04/2007
  • Original appearance text: The third egg was the one that had fallen onto the pile of precious stones. This one...this one would be special. Or at least believe he was. With an ability like his, who wouldn't think so? The fae that emerged from the sapphire egg came out slowly, a bit regal in his presence. This one could cry tears of jewels. What woman wouldn't like that?

((BISHIE for Yume! XD Welcome Lazuli to the Gardens!))

Description of appearance: It was certainly difficult to be born.
The egg's wings started fluttering quickly, as if it didn't know what's happening. The egg itself moved slowly, but wasn't even jumping, like it was too difficult for it...and then the crack appeared.
It quickly grew bigger, and more cracks started showing on the surface of the shell. And when the first larger part of it fell off, the egg suddenly released itself from the fae's hands, and flew into the sky, covering itself with a deep blue and green glow.
Precious gemstones started raining again, but this time it was visible where they came from - they were the parts of the broken shell. And when the last one fell on the ground, everyone could hear a gasp, and a loud scream.
And a new-born fae fell on the ground, landing on his rear end.
His eyes blinked slowly. Sapphire-blue eyes, in the exact same shade of blue as his shell was when he was an egg. The young boy had waist-long black hair, with a part of it being even longer, dangling till his knees. He moved his wings slowly, clearly surprised with the new way of doing this. And he had a reason to be surprised. Instead of one pair, now he had two.
He moved his wings again, slowly checking the feathers, and then fixed the wings on his back, trying to finally sit properly. And almost killing himself on his own hair.
"Ouch!" Yes. That was the first thing he said. His voice was soft and quiet, almost female-like. He closed his eyes, and let out a small tear on the air, which transformed into a sapphire on his cheek, and felt down on earth. But he ignored it. It was cold, his body hurt, and he felt really, really strange... He wanted to come back to his shell, and hide there forever and always.
But he opened his eyes slowly, his long eyelashes raising themselves...and he saw the gathering of fae around him. He blinked abain, and said the first thing that wasn't a pain exclamation.
    "...Who...are you...?"

________________________________..::Midnight Light::..
__________________________________________________ __________________20/04/2007
  • Lazuli: Lazuli felt more and more odd and misplaced here. Everybody was so happy and cheerful, and he just...didn't know what to think about it... All those people who he seen for the first time, how to act towards them..? He had a hard time even maintaining his smile, next to all those wonderful, shiny, dazzling faes.... Just how should he act?
...he decided not to. Lazuli quietly stood up, and quickly moved away, at first slowly, then he started running, no matter where, just away from the crowd. Later, when he'll get used to all those new experiences, he might come back, and talk to someone again...for now, he needed only a quiet place, where he could be alone and clear his mind.

Dalia: (...)I'll be calling on each of you to come visit me at some point or another, so that I can get to know you better and perhaps give you some advice about your futures." She gave a quick, shrill whistle, and suddenly, practically out of nowhere, four moths appeared, as if they were at the Oracle's beck and call.

"These are my messengers," she said, holding a finger out so that one of them could land there. "Each of you will get messages from a specific moth, so pay attention to which is yours. I'd love for you to give them names, and treat them as your own pets. Please, be kind to them. I will know if you have not." She gave the new fae a waggle of her finger, and watched as the moths floated to their respective fae.

The first floated over to Ora, seemingly pleased with her charge.

The second chose Kyrylo, fluttering over his head expectantly.

The third seemed to like Oerttena, and flew over to her quickly, perching atop her headdress.

The final moth was jewel-toned, much like his charge, and not knowing what to do now that he'd vanished, this particular moth perched atop Dalia's finger, waiting anxiously for his return.

Lazuli: When Lazuli heared his name called, he suddenly froze, and lost his balance, falling on his face. Again.
    Walking was really difficult.
He stood up, fixed the dust from his knees, and looked at the person who called him...but she already fixed his attention on someone else.
He run forward....but decided to hide in some near bushes... Just in case he would be called again...which probably wouldn't happen.

Dalia: Dalia whispered something to the jewel toned moth and it fluttered over to where Lazuli had run into the bushes. The moth already knew his scent, and easily found him hiding.

Moth: It chirped a few things at Laz, and through some strange magic, it translated into fae-speak so that he could understand it. "Oracle Dalia says you shouldn't hide. There's nothing to be afraid of. We're all friends in the Gardens." It fluttered it's wings a bit and landed on a branch just above Laz's head. "It's time for a tour. Come out and be brave!"

Lazuli: The whisperer blinked hearing that, and slowly reached a finger to the moth....somehow, he was a bit scared it would...bite him, or something...
"...I...I don't want to go there..." he sighed, and shook his head. It was too early for him...

Moth: The moth rubbed an antennae on Laz's finger, hoping that was a friendly enough gesture for the boy to feel comfortable around her. Why don't you want go go out there? There's no reason not to.

The moth waited for a reply, hoping she'd convince Laz to come out with the rest of them. What would you need to feel comfortable?

Lazuli: "...less light...and less fae..." Lazuli shuddered, feeling a bit uneasy...but not as much, when he felt the moth touching him...it was somehow calming....
"...why do you want me to come out...?"

Moth: Less light...Well, that's certainly understandable, the moth said, feeling that way herself. She much preferred darkness, though a bright light was so tempting at times--especially when it was cold outside. Most bright lights provided warmth. I like the darkness too. But the fae...they are harmless! Do you think they want to eat you or something? I think most would like to befriend you instead.

She flitted up into his hair , slowly batting her wings, hoping to calm the fae down. He needed to come out. It was that time. Why do I want you to come out? Well, the answer is simple: you need to learn of the Gardens silly! There are many of them, and some are more important than others. I think the Oracle would want you to know where she lives, so that if you're ever summoned, you're not late because you couldn't find the place. The Oracle is very testy about tardiness. If the moth could have shook a finger at him as a teacher would, she certainly would have.

Plus, you -- and I as well -- need a place to live. I certainly wouldn't want to just fly around all the time and sleep in the trees! Oracle Dalia has provided me with a lovely place to stay, seeing as how I'm her messenger. But now, you're in charge of me. It'd be nice to have a warm place to sleep, don't you think?

The moth was far too rational for simply being a moth, but who ever spoke with one before? Who knew what a moth worried over until now. Come now, she said. I'll stay beside you, and you don't have to talk to anyone if you don't want to.

Lazuli: "...I...I don't think so..." the boy sighed, and shook his head... "They are all so bright, and suit each other...I'm sure it would be better if I just went my way." Lazuli shrugged his shoulders, and gently touched the moth's wing, careful not to harm it. "As for miss Orackle's home, I'm sure you would be able to guide me to it...And for a place to stay, I'll find something...I don't need much."
It was true. he would be perfectly fine sleeping in those very bushes.
"...By the way, miss moth... What is your name?"

Moth: The moth was growing slightly impatient with the Whisperer who refused to be among others, even those of his own kind. She kept her calm voice though, hoping to lure him from the bushes. She certainly didn't think that sleeping there was a good idea at ALL.

"You know, most of those out there are your own kind," she said quietly. "You are a Whisperer, and though the others may seem bright to you, Oerttena, Kyrylo and Destine are also Whisperers like you. Yet they do not hide from the others or from the sunlight." She paused, hoping to instill some sagely advice into him. "You need to learn to be strong Lazuli. To face your fears. You will not grow otherwise..."

It was a warning of sorts, and the moth hoped he took it to heart. She was well aware that before a fae could grow, it would have to go on a personal quest that the Oracle would assign.

She was a bit surprised by his question, though he hadn't been around to hear Dalia tell the other fae to give their moths names. "My name? Well, that's yet to be decided I think. It's your job to give me a name. I'm still young, and the Oracle said you'd be the one to name me. So, what will you call me, young Lazuli?"

Lazuli: "...I...really have to, yes...?" The boy sighed, and looked at the moth, sadness in his eyes. He -knew- he wasn't ready yetHe didin't want to see anyone. Maybe later, when the sky would go darker again... Or when his mind would be calmer.
But he knew the moth won't leave him alone till he goes out. Why couldn't she leave him alone? he was fine just like that....
Lazuli shook his head, and carefully peeked through the leaves, looking at the other fae. He really didn't like all that brightness. It made his eyes hurt.
"...I...should name you?" That was a surprise. He knew nothing about her. What if he'd pick a wrong name? But the moth seemed to really want that. Lazuli nodded finally, and looked at her again. "...If you really want to.... Then I shall name you Midnight Light. Midnight, for short." Laz stood up, and carefully moved towards the group of fae, from tree to tree, so he'd always be hidden behind one of them. He finally stopped behind one of them, few meters from the other fae, and carefully peeked at what are they doing.
