  • I dragged myself to the bathroom and decided to take a cool shower before I set out in search of the sphere. After I dressed myself, and gathered a few things I might need while looking for it, I went back to my room, and retrieved my gun from my lock box under my bed. As I held it in my hand, feeling the weight of it, I wished to myself that I wouldn't have to use it. But I know, even though I hated the idea, I was going to have to kill someone tonight. To end a life. Such a horrible sin, to be forced to live with...

  • I tried to mentally prepare myself, for what lie ahead for me this evening. The things I must accomplish. I tried to think that, by murdering this person, I was promoting the life of the demon in the sphere, yet to be born in this world. In a strange way, I wanted to do it.. to prove my love, my devotion. Such horrible thoughts, I started to have. The bond that Lucifer spoke of, between me and the sphere, was already strong in me, changing who I was.

  • I was it's guardian, it's protector. This was my life, who I was born to be. Who I had to be, now that I had accepted the task. After all.. if someone had kidnapped my child, would I not kill the man who took it? Would I not fight, and hurt the those, who intended to do harm to my child? That's what I was doing, saving my future child, with the sacrifice of a thief's life. Lucifer mentioned the kidnapper's blood was necessary, to rejuvenate the sphere now that it had been touched by someone other than me. There had to be done. I must save it's life. Whatever it takes, I will do it.

  • I picked up the bottle on my night stand, and opened it. I hesitated for a moment,t hen consumed all of it's contents in one gulp. I tasted of... nothing. Like water, if I had to compare it to something. I felt it stirring inside my body almost immediately. It tingled, and burned, then I felt nothing.

  • I went outside, and saw the mist, just as Lucifer had described it. A faint blue mist in the darkness. It glowed with a pale light, so it was easy to spot in the dark yard behind my home. I could see the trail, leading from the broken window of my house and across the yard, towards the fence.

  • Briefly, I thought about the vial of strange liquid I had consumed. I wondered, if someone else had used it to find me? Perhaps they followed me from the agency, to my home. Were these kidnappers going to a constant threat in my life, to both me, and my demon? Through out my entire time as a guardian? If that potion was used by others, they would always be able to find me. To Find us. That thought, made me very uneasy about the future.

  • But now was not the time to think about such hypothetical situations. I could worry about it later, maybe even ask Lucifer if he came to me in my dreams again. It was comforting to know, that there was someone out there to help me along the way.

  • I walked across the yard and pulled myself up to look over the fence. On the other side, I saw the mist path lead between the houses, and to the street. I had no idea how far I would have to go to find the sphere, so I went back to my house, and got into my car, just in case. I couldn't afford to waste any time. I didn't know how long the potion would last.

  • Once inside, I drove around the block, to the street where the mist had lead me. I saw that it went all the way down the street, so I followed it in my car. It lead me about thirty-five miles south of town, and into a very rough area of the downtown area of the city.

  • The mist lead down into an alley, and to a beat up looking pick up truck. I pulled over, and parked my car near the corner of the alley. When I looked around, I saw a few shady looking people, standing here and there. None of them paid me any attention, so I continued on my hunt. I headed into the alley, feeling more exposed and more in danger than I ever had before.

  • As I approached the truck, I pulled out my gun and carried it low, and close to my side. I saw the mist now lead away from the truck and into the building. I was scared about going in there. It looked dangerous, and out of earshot from anyone to hear me if I called out for help, should I need it. But, I supposed, it didn't matter. The people I saw on the street did not seem the type to help anyone anyways.

  • I opened the door slowly, and peered inside. I didn't see anything except the mist, so I crept inside. The mist was everywhere in here, as if he had been pacing back and forth several times. One path lead up the stairs, but it was thin. So I assumed he had not left, and was upstairs. I followed the mist. It went up three flights of stairs, then ended just outside a door. I could here someone moving around inside. God Lord, this was it. Lucifer, be with me.. I kissed the ribbon tired around my wrist.

  • I kicked the door open and raised my gun. To my surprise, the person inside who was covered with the blue mist, was a woman. She was far too skinny, to be considered healthy. She looked.. sick. She didn't move, or even look at me. She kept her head down, and her eyes on the floor. She rocked back and forth, scratching her arms.

  • "Where is it? I want it back, now." I kept the gun pointed at her, and tried to sound as firm as possible. But in truth, I was terrified. I was scared, for both the sphere, and myself. And I was also scared, because I knew I must end her life, before I left this room.

  • It's there." She raised her hand, and pointed to the corner of the room. When I looked, I saw the sphere, resting ontop of a metal table. I felt a moment a relief, knowing it was still in one piece. But what I saw around it, disturbed me greatly. Written all over the walls, were gibberish words and painted scenes of a woman dying. She died by the hands of an angle, with six wings.

  • I was able to make out some of the words written on the wall. But only a few. I was able to read..

    the sacrifice
    heavenly virtues
    sin of pride
    he comes to save

The rest was scribbled and unlegable.

  • “Why did you take the sphere from me?” I asked her.
    “So you would kill me.”
“What?” When I asked her, she ran at me, with something in her hand. A knife? I wasn’t sure, and I could risk it being something dangerous. I fired two shots at her chest. I saw the blood splatter out behind her and on the floor. She dropped to her knees. When I looked at her hand, as she knelt there, confused, I saw she was holding a small glass bottle, much like the one I had received from Lucifer. When she fell onto her side, the bottle shattered into countless pieces. It made glints in the light. She was in a pool of blood and stars. How heavenly..

  • When she looked up at me, I saw her eyes staring into mine. No fear, no sorrow in them. I knew this would be a moment I could carry with me forever. Seeing a woman’s eyes before she died. Like a whisper of death, she was gone. I could see her eyes were empty. They looked different, distant, soulless. And I had caused it.

  • Quickly, I went to the sphere, and picked it up. It seemed to be alright. It seemed, different though, somewhat. But I wasn’t sure why. I went the girl’s body on the floor. The pool of blood was spreading around her. I gulped audibly, then pressed my left hand, palm down, into it. The blood felt hot and thick on my skin. I thought I was going to be sick from not the feel and sight of it, but knowing I had caused this.

  • I placed my blood coated hand over the sphere, and smeared the red liquid all over the outside of it. I could hear something, around me, in the empty space. In the air. It sounded like a fire crackling. I watched, as the blood was absorbed by the sphere. The natural glow from inside it, which was what was missing and different about it before, was back.

  • "Leave now." I heard a gentle voice in my head. "You must hurry." It was Lucifer, speaking to me. He possessed the most beautiful voice I had ever heard, an I could recognize it anywhere. "Go!" it urged me, so I did. With the sphere in hand, I did as the voice insisted and rushed out of building. I went back to my car, and drove away, towards my home.

  • On the drive home, about halfway there, I had to pull over while on the highway. I couldn't keep my stomach under control any longer. I stepped out of the car, feeling in intense, powerful breeze of the cars and trucks speeding by. It offered a moment of relief, but then I felt sick yet again. I walked around my car and hung my head between my knees, trying to gain control of the gag reflex trying to make me puke. But, it only took a moment for it win me over and make my stomach backfire.

  • About five or ten minutes later, I wasn't sure, my body started to feel a little better, but not the rest of me. I sat down and leaned back up against the side of my car. I tried to concentrate on breathing slowly. I could feel the cool air entering my lungs, and kept my thoughts on that. I wasn't ready to deal with what I had done tonight. that I had to kill someone. That, I had committed murder. A mortal sin.

  • The officer was shining his flash light down into my face, blinding my eyes with it. It was so bright that I was unable to make out his face against it. He was extremely tall though, that much I could tell. Like any other time you got pulled over and approached by the police officer, I responded with the typical question. "Good evening. Is there a problem, officer?"
