Well some CIs and EIs have backgrounds. :) I know Drawing Room is an EI that has a background or two.
|
*huggles the thread* How is everyone today?
|
I'm good and you? :)
|
Prolly a dumb question, but what are CIs and EI?
|
EI = Event Item and CI = Contribution Item.
Now you know which short term means which thing. :D! Drawing Room is an EI and what rainbow I have is from a CI. I don't remember the name of it right now. :S I think it is something called Iris or was it.... |
And, for further clarification the "Contribution Items" are the two "Monthly Items" that are only available for one calendar month of the given year from the site, and the number of them in circulation depends on how many people purchase them with 'mennies'. You may purchase the existing month's with mennies yourself, or you may buy them off another user with gold and/or items. For 'previous months' CIs, this is the only option.
Event items are only given out during the duration of a given event which usually last a week at most, but people tend to aquire extras to share or sell. They are limited as well and only available from other users. Most EIs are uncommon-rare with the exception of last year's Easter Eggs... people were under the impression that collecting the eggs led up to an item but then it turns out the eggs were the items themselves so people practically give them away. The "Drawing Room" is a previous valentine's EI, I want to say 2008. The Rainbow is from "Rainbows of Iris" CI. Also the Book of Daydreams and the Tome of Nightmares each come with a 'frame' and a 'background'. I'm using the frame but both of the backgrounds are too colourful to suit my current avatar. Plus, you should know my stance on the situation by now: the only stupid question is the one you don't ask :) |
Hi everyone, sorry I haven't been around much! it's been a rough couple of weeks for me here. Still trying to deal with the loss of my friend back in March (it's his sister who brought me to Mene) and just haven't been feeling very social.
I'm still here though! I haven't left Mene, I promise. :) I'll try to get on more, too. Afterall, I can't win any awesome shinies if I don't post, right? ^_~ |
-pokes head in-

Greetings PerfectlyKawaii: What brings you here? :)
Well, while you are here, I'll go ahead and click your shiny green egg for you. |
*rubs essence of Nao all over the thread*

Hello everyone and I send welcome greetings to the new users. :D!
|
Hey guys. I haven't abandoned this thread or Mene, but things have been stupid crazy. And to top all of the other chaos off, my bf's van(Shelia) broke down apparently and I had a job interview at 3PM. Q_Q Why?
|
Saiyacookie, Pink Roses, and anyone else who is dealing with real life issues:
I just wanted to say that first of all obviously your real life comes first. If you don't take care of yourself in the real world you won't be able to come play in the digital realm. Also, none of you are obligated to post in this thread. If you feel the need to apologise go ahead, but it's really not needed. You're forgiven in advance! I sure as hell appreciate any and all help and company from the thread regulars, but the only one that should shoulder any real obligation here is me. You all rock, so keep your chins up, ne? |
Crow, you should probably go and check your trades. I threw a bit of stuff for the charity to you. <3
|
Yreka: Domo arigatou gozaimasu! We added your gifts to the pile of shinies, and also added your name to the list of those who have been kind enough to donate to our charity. You should have a 'thank you' PM waiting in your inbox as well (since you don't have a visitor message wall enabled). We were beginning to get a little bit worried because the pile of items was getting smaller, but your contribution has helped quite a bit.
|
Awesome, the pile is bigger. ^_^; So how is everyone right now?
|
Hurray for shinies!
Boo is terribly tired of looking for a job. Need one, but tired of looking. |
Hm... did you try library page jobs? Library systems might be hiring. I know it is only part time work, but it is better than nothing. :S Some of them might have health coverage. :S
I'd wish my system did, or I would be working there. :D! |
The libraries around here are tiny and underfunded. I doubt they are hiring. >_<' Thanks for trying to help though. ^_^ *hugs*
|
You're welcome. and it's sad when libraries are underfunded. :( They should be "funded".
|
Indeed! Have you seen the news about Harper Collins? They are trying to sell self-destructing ebooks to libraries (the books just disappear after 26 check outs), so the libraries will have to buy popular books over and over again. >_< It's reprehensible!! If you go to change.org there is a petition to sign (either check the news section, sort by education, or do a search), to let HC know the public will not tolerate their money grubbing ways. A lot of libraries and people are boycotting their books too. I would be if I had money to buy books. lol
|
This is probably one of the most crass things you'll have heard from me, but it's based on one of the most ridiculous things I've heard for some time:
Self-destructing e-books?! WTF?!? >=( |
Yeah, that pretty much described my reaction as well. >_<'
Here's the link if anyone wants to sign the petition. Change.org Harper Collins Petition So far it is at 68,000 signatures but HC is still holding out. I'm really hoping they get the idea soon. This is a lot of bad publicity for them that they could avoid by abandoning the ridiculous course they've chosen, even their authors are upset with them for this move. ---------- Just thinking about it...if a library check out is two weeks long, and the books only last for twenty-six checkouts...that puts a popular ebook lasting just 52 weeks. One year? If they are intending the policy to echo real wear and tear on library books that is a ridiculously short amount of time. Most libraries have books that have been in circulation for decades! Especially popular fiction. The whole idea is incredibly stupid. Which ever corporate brain came up with it should be fired for being, not only a poor judge of human character in thinking people would accept this farce, but also for being a complete idiot. *climbs down of her soapbox* ^_^' As you can see I'm a bit passionate about this cause. |
Self-What? That is horrible! I think I have some of that publishers books. >_<;
I agree with what you said, Boo. I will sign that petition. I hope they won't have those self-destructing ebooks. That would hurt library systems such as the one I volunteer at. We have books that are checked out all the time, and some people don't understand that we can't replace them every week. :( I wish we could and I wish discarding books to the "store" would end. Unless they have no choice. >_<; |
