im playing D&D
...and we are so screwed |
I wonder what's up with that, Lizzy. Perhaps people are buying less overall?
What edition, Angel? What race and class combo are you playing? *curious* Aw, Crow! I've been meaning to ask - do you prefer gold or the actual starter dress/shirt when you get donations? It's been a little while since I've made a donation and I'd like to give back some of the gold I've earned while hanging out in your charity to further the charity's cause. |

Scribbled Lore: I play 4.0
I am an Eladrin Wizard. Chaotic Evil alignment |
D&D 4th edition makes me want to inflict bodily harm on people at WOtC.
It's like they took everything intelligent, creative, and fun out of D&D and changed it into a pen and paper MMO. It absolutely infuriates me. I play 3.5. Finding the books I don't have yet is a pain but at least it still feels like D&D. I used to play 2nd edition when I first started. I still miss it. THAC0 for the win!! |
What about Pathfinder? It's pretty much D&D 3.75!
|
Also, the constant references to the miniatures and dungeon tiles in those books felt so much like advertising it was really off-putting. I don't need commercials in my gaming session thanks. Fancy miniatures and premade dungeon layouts just limits creativity and sucks the life out the storytelling.... *climbs down off her soapbox*
What is Pathfinder? Is it by WOtC? |
No, it's by Piazo, who did a bunch of stuff for D&D 3.5.
|
Interesting...*does some checking* It might be good. I'll check it out sometime when I have money for it. ^_^' In the meantime I like 3.5 well enough and we have about thirty of the books for it between my husband and myself and our friend that we game with.
We also like to play White Wolf RPGs but we rarely get to because our friend doesn't care for them much. We desperately need a larger group. A gaming group of three can get tiresome after a few years, especially when one is only interested in battle, another prefers traps and storytelling, and the last likes all of it but is bipolar and has trouble feeling creative enough to run or play in a campaign when he's on a downswing. :headdesk: |
Funny enough, we just started a Vampire: the Masquerade tabletop this weekend with some friends of ours and CZ and I are trying to get a V:tM game started here on Menewsha. We're also getting involved in a Werewolf game on Menewsha.
We're chock full of White Wolf! |
I'm very fond of Changeling: The Dreaming. It's older White Wolf and requires some tweaking to the rules to make it work with the third edition stuff but I love it. The new Changeling was very disappointing.
We also have most of the core books for the new White Wolf World of Darkness. |
I might have to get in on the V:tM RP. I remember a while back there was a Menewshan who was attempting to simplify all the rules to make a "Menewshan version" which I found admirable and time-consuming. I do need to take care of business here first before I go extending myself any more, though.
|
I haven't played Changeling. I'll have to look it up.
My biggest frustration is that the people we're playing with right now are, for the most part, power gamers and they take a lot of the fun out of the RP aspect of the game. They also tend to really mess with the plot too. For example, one of the players literally made Batman to play in our Vampire game offline. Batman. *sighs* |
Why on earth was he allowed to do that? That the sort of thing a good storyteller/DM/GM doesn't let happen. Unless it is a superhero campaign setting like champions or heroes. I've played one of those and it was a lot of fun. Difficult to balance super powers and story in a group with munchkins though. Takes a really good leader to keep it all under control.
|
I'm not sure but the ST is rolling with it and instead of having him Embraced as a Ventrue like he thought he was going to be, this player's character is being made into a ghoul instead. I'm sure he'll still find a way to power game as a ghoul but at least it might limit his options.
|
Changeling can be expensive, if you can find it. You have to be sure it's Changeling: The Dreaming and not the new one.
---------- Hmm...well at least the storyteller is punishing the player for being such a munchkin. That's something. |
You guys talking dungeon and dragons?
|
*pops out to remind Boo*
dear it is time to pick up this months CI's from Nao Hello all and thank you for the prizes Crow-papa |
*yawns* G'morning folks.

-drags over a creaky, wooden, soapbox and stands on top- Okay, I only got 2 hours of sleep last night but it appears an event or something intersting is supposed to happen today, or "8.1", so I finally managed to coax Phobos and Deimos into delivering some prizes. Some of the rarities won include an Iridescent Jelly Squid, an Omniscent Eye, and Vicky's own Pumpikin and Booger Cookie, but I hope everyone enjoys what they received. It not, feel free to sell them, trade them, or donate them. All in all quite a haul for simply posting with a link in your signature, wouldn't you say? The 'fun' part for me is that you all have been chatterboxes since my dice roll post so I'm almost, but not quite, as equally far behind... but unless something catches me off guard, the next round won't be doubled. Can't have you lot getting too spoiled. So, in summary: Check Your Trades! Thank You :)
