@lizzy: well I hope you pass I would hate to see you fail

Artsy 12-15-2011 05:57 PM

Just signed up today. Noticed I was naked, so I went to the stores and built a wishlist. Then I went to the arcade games because I guessed that there would be gold, received 130 gold in total for trying out several games and posting a thread in the fresh meat area. That was enough for a shirt, but thats about it. Then I lurked the forums and came here. I don't really feel that I need pants, since I have the pixel boxers, but is it ok if I request for a green baseball cap? There isn't many hairstyle options here, and my head looks like it can poke a hole through the hull of a ship.

Of course, I'll first do the five post quest, but I don't want to seem like I'm spamming, so I'm going to wait for someone else to continue this thread.

Edit: I'm going to try to finish my 250 gaming gold quota.

whitexsuicide 12-15-2011 08:14 PM

good luck with that.. i have no time for games... so i only do posting...

Welcome to Menewsha and this thread, Artsy. As for the Baseball Cap question, I don't run this thread so I can't "help" you on that one right now. I'll see what I can do in a little bit. ^_^;

Saravi Boo 12-16-2011 08:07 AM

Hello peoples! ^_^

Welcome Artsy! This charity doesn't actually take requests like that as a general rule, but of course it will be up to Crow to give you a definite response. ^_^' Regardless, I do hope you will continue to work on meeting the five post requirement and I hope you like it here.

TanaChan 12-16-2011 08:20 AM

HI BOO!!!!!

The_Crow 12-16-2011 04:43 PM

Artsy: Welcome to Menewsha. You seem to have achieved quite a bit on your own! However, if you read the front page of the charity there is no system for making specific requests, therefore if a moderator was having a bad day you could actually get in trouble for 'begging'. I'm here to help you out, so I'm not going to report you on something so silly, but most things here on Mene have a certain... way of going about them. For the charities, first of all you read the front page. If you did, you'd notice that to get a starter (peasant) shirt and a free randomized gift (worth anywhere from ten to perhaps 1,000+ gold?) is what you will receive here after you make five posts and fill in the form.

The post amount is so you can get out any questions you have while you are very new so that way you do not feel 'stupid' about asking them later... there's no such thing as a stupid question here... though there have been quite a few repetitive ones

Also, upon filling out the form I have a hidden phrase you must include which ensures that people read the front page. In other areas of the site, say somebody has an item you happen to be questing for, a friends shows you the llink, you post, but it is a couple of weeks over the 'thread necro' (bringing back rather expired threads) date... you receive a formal infraction. Ouch. yes, that happened to me when I was new. I include this so that way people learn in a safe environment where there are no real repricussions other than the fact that I make you fill out the form again.

Also, by making posts you're likely to make a friend or two which is nice. There are alot of fresh meat 'greeters', but I have noticed that people that 'click' with each other in my charity tend to make longer term friends, which is nice.

Good luck here on Menwsha, and if you have any other questions you are still free to ask. Also, once you surpass a certain gold limit you will no longer qualify for the new user package from this charity because you can afford your own clothes. However we do normally have pagepries, post prizes, and those who link to the charity have received multiple bonuses.

Oh, I see. In that case I'll put off trying out all the games in menewsha, don't want to collect over 500g and miss out on the random gift thing. :)

So does everyone here mainly rp on Menewsha? The rp forum seems to be the most popular one here.

The_Crow 12-16-2011 05:13 PM

@Artsy- Well, you see on Menewsha there is a daily game cap of 250 :gold: per day to discourage botting (It used to be 500 gold :( ). Anyways, there is no limit to the amount of gold you can earn via posting per day. However, your posts are 'weighted'. Anything within brackets (for the BBC code usually) us nullified out. Also, anything quoted is also nullified out. Therefore, it is in your best interest to say, spell out your words ("you are" instead of "u r" results in more gold). It also encourages literate paragraph roleplay.

I attempted fairly recently to start a small (five player) Doctor Who RP over on Gaia (only due to the larger population), however, if even one of my cannons drops out (and they did -grumbles-) it criples my game.

Roleplaying is popular, and the hangouts in "The Menewsha Nation" are also popular. They have a 'theme' of sorts, but since it is also a 'hangout' the posts bounce back and forth between the theme and just general chatter once people have become aquainted with each other. My personal hangout thread is one for people who all loathe the concept of gender binary and gender stereotyping. Due to the bases on menewsha, you can have very effeminate looking males, masculine females, and sometimes you really can't tell what gender somebody is. I think that's great. Online people should be acknowledged for their ideas, contributions to conversations (RolePlaying skills when applicable), and there is a whole lot of pre-assumed 'baggage' when you find out someone's biological sex.

I do apologise if that digressed into a bit of a rant there, but it is something I care about. There is also a Japanese Conversation hangout, a hangout for Whovians (Doctor Who fans), etc. Don't see anything you like? You can easily make your own thread as well.

Oh, and there is a very minute posting bonus for any time somebody other than yourself posts in a thread that you have started. That's another little 'trick' not everyone is aware of.

Dottie Mae Evans 12-16-2011 05:21 PM

I role play when I can, Artsy. Although I tend to get writer's block or get bored of my role plays afterwards. Hence why I role play with only a few people now. I should apologize to the people I started role plays with and had stopped. :(

Saravi Boo 12-16-2011 06:07 PM

I generally only do one on one RPs online to decrease the drop out risk. Crow, I'd love to do a Doctor Who RP if you are interested at some point. ^_^ I understand if now isn't the best time for you. Just let me know.

I like to RP with premade settings and characters most often (like books, TV, anime, etcetera). It challenges me to play characters that are nothing like my natural persona. *shrugs* Also, with a one on one RP I like to divide the characters up between the two players so we both get a good amount of diversity in our writing experience.

All that reminds me that I need to post in my current RP. ^_^'

Oh! I got a call today about an application I put in several months ago. I have an interview on Monday. Please wish me luck. I may need it. ^_^'

Artsy 12-17-2011 05:55 AM

@the_Crow, thanks for the tips and info. Also, good luck on your interview, Saravi. The rps here seem fun, but I'll probably just be watching them for a while since its been a few years since I last rp'd.

Burger King 12-17-2011 06:01 PM

Burger King here. :) How is everyone today? Lizzy told me to stop by and say hi. I might have a holiday thread, but I am not sure. I hope I have enough prizes to have one. ^_^;

whitexsuicide 12-17-2011 07:20 PM

hi! there is too much for me to read, but how is everyone?

Burger King 12-18-2011 07:26 PM

Burger King is well. How about you? :) Also Lizzy passed her art course.

Saravi Boo 12-19-2011 07:07 AM

Well done Lizzy! ^_^

*huggles the thread* Night folks! I have a job interview tomorrow so I need to hit the hay. ^_^ Wish me luck please!

The_Crow 12-19-2011 07:26 AM

Congratulations on passing that particular art course, Lizzy. I know you had expressed previous worry about it, and I personally think it is f**ked up that one can 'fail' art to begin with. Art is art. I mean, you could be failed for laziness of not turning in assignments or something like not using the supplies you are told to (ie not following the syllabus) but other than that you should be guaranteed a passing grade. Unlike music where you can not rehearse and clearly not have memorization of your songs and mastery of your voice and/or instrument...

Boo- I do not wish you 'luck', but I wish you proper memory retention when studying and also when taking your test, calm nerves, and also for nothing distracting to go wrong to prevent you from doing your best, how about that?

Dottie Mae Evans 12-19-2011 01:41 PM

It's actually an Art appreciation course, Crow. :S This professor was to the "tee" about the course. I been through a lot and Art Basel didn't help the situation. :S It just brought back memories of my grandma complaining about it and the people that went through the parking garage she worked at.

Saravi Boo 12-20-2011 01:01 AM

^_^' Thanks Crow. It wasn't actually a test or anything but I appreciate the support. I'm really hopeful about this job. The interview seemed to go really well (for me) and as long as my references don't bomb me I think the lady is going to hire me. ^_^ I should know by Wednesday either way. I'm so nervous I can barely breathe. O_O'

Burger King 12-20-2011 01:37 AM

You'll get the job, Boo. :) Also, Burger King is making a tradition of making event threads. :) I only have a few more days to get items for my event thread. Lizzy can hand me some items, but you know how hard it is for a Burger King. :-X Lizzy wants me to be a charity mule one day, but I reminded her of the hard work that is required. ;)

Saravi Boo 12-20-2011 01:47 AM

I might be able to donate a shiny or two to the king's cause. ^_^ Lemme see what I have to spare.

Burger King 12-20-2011 02:02 AM

Thank you Boo. :) If they're aren't used, then they'll be sent back. Thanks. ^_^;

Saravi Boo 12-20-2011 03:36 AM

Don't worry about it. You can always just save them for later or something. They were duplicates and I don't need multiples cluttering up my inventory drawers. If you don't want to hang on to them, I'm sure you can find a quester to donate them to or you can just sell them and use the funds for your next event thread. ^_^ Whatever you want to do with them is fine with me. ^_^

Now I gotta get some sleep. Nighty-night! *huggles*

Dottie Mae Evans 12-20-2011 03:55 AM

Goodnight, Boo. :) Sleep tight. Also I better get to bed too. I gotta get up early in the morning to get some pillow pets the post office owes me. :-/

Saravi Boo 12-20-2011 03:59 AM

Pillow pets remind me of roadkill...O_O' Maybe it's the hillbilly in me. lol. ^_^'
