Jymphoni: Of course I remember you :) This is my charity, my jurisdiction, and I tend to have a good memory of the personalities who have been through here. I am sincerely glad you are back.
I know I have not been around, so perhaps some general assitance would be nice: What time does the official winter nights event end? I have the most miniscule amount of event currency, and yet again no event rares with very good reason... two months of depression, a night that almost killed me, then all three of my computers and/or hard drives were dead at once, oh and I suffered SSRI drop and ended up slicing my wrist (again) in the middle of that as well.
I personally ended up screaming in two different drugstores last night and shoving a very damaged arm/wrist in a few faces because at stop A they told me the "CR" controlled release that my psychiatrist wrote for wasn't covered by my insurance and as for the generic version I had last time the physically did not have a single pill so I had to go to the other drugstore a few exits down the freeway with my roomate driving as my brain was functioning at about 10% and they gave me 2 emergency pills to get it in my blood again...
Whoops, probably should have saved that for life issues, but I'll go ahead and give you the answer to 'how have you been' ahead of time... Because nobody ever bothers to ask me that.

D:
I always ask that!
(I may not have back in the day, but it's been what, two years?)
What is.. SSRI? And CR.. And.. Did you cut yourself on purpose? D:
What happened to your computers? D:
I don't know jackshit about this event myself, got 1.25 tokens.. Only because I was curious about that magnifying glass.. o -o

SSRI is short for "Selective Seratonin Reuptake Inhibitor". Basically, it keeps, or INHINBITS Seratonin, a kind of 'keep you from being depressed' chemical found naturally in your brain from being 'reuptaked' out of your brain, therefore keeping it bouncing around in your brian longer... think of it like a pinball machine on multiball and the little gap that the balls can go out of getting shrunk in half. It's the standard for what they give depressed people and it usually works as long as your not bipolar/manic-depressive in which case it will make you immediately gravely suicidial usually. Common names are Lexapro, Paxil, Zoloft, the one they just switched me to is Luvox.
CR simply means "Controlled Release", and it can apply to any medicine. Before I found out it was the worst side effect medicine I ever had, I tred Ambien and Ambien CR, they also had me on Paxil CR for a while but it didn't make a difference. Most drugs you can cut in half and it won't make a difference, but Controlled Release pills have special coatings and layers so as they're dissolved by your stomach acid it lets the medicine into your system a little differently.
About the computers... man my head is hurting, I'll save that one for another day.
I'm still looking for answers about the Festival of Winter Nights. It looks like there are 3 Rare EIs, none of which I can afford... are there going to be any more? Is it worth trying to save up for some or should I scrap it and just use what little event currency I have to buy some commons to sellback once the hit full price and give to my charity (what I did last event I couldn't fully participate in)?

Crow, the event is supposed to last several more days, so if you think you will be able to be on and chat a bit you should save up for the EIs. ^_^ I hope you can get a set. Maybe some mindless mene chatting will be a good way to take your mind off your troubles for a while. *huggles* Stay safe and I'll be praying the new year goes better for you than this one has.
Happy New Year to Everyone else as well. *huggles* Be back later. Gotta head home from the library. ^_^

Intersting! That raffle must be psychic and sympathetic because it wanted to give me both gold AND The exclusive item! I don't usually win things such as this on Menewsha. Looking at the numbers it looks like I will be receiving an 1k in gold. I suppose that's not a bad return for the amount I invested at all I might be able to actually put it towards something. I still don't have enough of these token things nor enough gold for any of the event rares, by tokens nor gold. I almost wish they would invent a system that would let you combine event currency with regular menewsha gold. I know Insomniac himself doesn't have time to work on something that trivial, and my personal coding is so out of practise... it's laughable.

I know a few computer languages.
I've been self-taught HTML then XHTML since high school. (see VirtualInsanity.net -- v 1.1 -- Imaginings ).
Also back in high school I put an Apache web server, PHP, a mySQL database, and a basic mail server to beta test a friend's hand developed community software (user accounts, forums, items, basically mene minus the dressable avatars). I uploaded it to my own webspace and knew enough of the PHP to tweak it even though I didn't really 'know' it, I could make good educated guesses.
I have learned SQL and DML in my Database Design class.
I also leared how to code cisco routers, ie "enable secret pass, config t, router RIP, config eth0 192.168.1.1 255.255.255.0, copy run start" ... that's slightly dated, as I know they do /bytes right after the IP address instead of writing out the subnet mask manually and I probably made a small mistake or two but I haven't done that in ages.
I also took JAVA programming the VERY first year it was offered, my textbook said "AP Computer Science" but I was in the transitional year where it was reallly C++'s final year of being AP Computer Science, and next year would be JAVA, so I WAS basically taking AP Computer Science, but I didn't get the weighted grade point average.
Then I worked for the IT departmet at my university and learned all kinds of neat things like command line prompts, Active Directory, how Symantec Ghost for imaging machines, how to troubleshoot staff and student machines... so much... to individuals and small businesses I am an IT god but to big companies I would be just another peon which rather sucks. I've been paid up to $50 an hour to do computer work, obviously as a 1099 contractor, not as an actual hired position. I think the most I made as a 'part time employee' was $25/hr.
PS: The site I linked to is the gateway for sites I have either made, co-owned, helped with, etc. The ORIGINAL owner of ANCNT (before I took it over for a number of YEARS before putting it on hiatus) is my current roomate, as an extremely odd piece of trivia about my life.

Basically, xe was talking about computer programming languages (HTML, PHP, and such) and stuff. About the ones xe knows and the ones xe has studied. ;) Xe even talked about a website xe operates and owns.
I summarized the post the best that I can. :D!

Very close and good enough for Jymphoni, Lizzy however for your information HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language) is not a computer programing language, just an encoding language. You can't build a program out of HTML, in fact you have to have a program or more in order to run it!
This is opposed to an actual computer programming language such as JAVA in which you can program a simple game of "guess the letter" in the console where you press a letter on the keyboard at random and it can tell you if you are correct or incorrect, and then you can, say, press the space bar to clear the screen and try again.
They are all "languages" of sorts, but they are not all computer programming languages, if you understand the difference?

Lizzy-dear That was more for your benefit than hers. Seeinga as how Jymphoni asked for a simplification, my expansion on it would have been counter to the original request. I just wanted to make sure that you understood the difference. There are so many computer-related languages and sub-categores for each it can give you a headache and it is a common misnomer for someone to lump them all together as 'computer programming' languages. For example, if you drop that at the wrong job interview (for something technical), it could cost you the position if you know what I mean. So thought it might come off as my night picky, show-off, self, there is benevolent intent underneath and I hope you understand that as well.

**nods** Hm... I knew HTML isn't a "programming language". I made a basic site by using HTML and not Dreamweaver. I just wish I could take up Web Design as a major at my college instead, although they don't have it as an AA degree.

Pink Roses: Welcome Back! Once a patron of this charity, (save for the tiny detail of being blacklisted) you are always welcome back at any time
As for how I have been... honestly you don't want to know. If I could psychically condense then transfer my experiences to you, you would be CERTAIN to temporarily end up in a psychiatric ward, perhaps even by your own choice. Even in dealing with the aftermath of the 'main event', I know people who have threatened to kill a person, I know people who are supposed to be my 'friends' who have actually told me to kill myself, multiple people talking about police reports etc, and still just so much pain and confustion. Yes, you don't want to know how I've been doing.

No need too be afraid. Nobody is actually blacklisted here in the charity. The only person Crow-sama has blacklisted was a horrible troll in hir Life Issues thread. Now, as far as that user goes, they are even a step beyond blacklisted... they are banned from Menewsha because apparently they harrased multiple staff members for no apparent reason (along with Crow-sama).

and if anything you're going through mentally/emotionally is similar to what I've been going through, all I can say is that I hope whatever you're doing to cope is better than what I'm doing XD.
I say that jokingly, but I need treatment and can't get it. So sometimes my crazy shows, like when we all thought hip hugger jeans were awesome even though everyone could see our panties/thongs when we bent over((I hated hip huggers btw))

My mom thought they were cool, but alas, my hips and butt don't flatter such a cut. Lane Bryant is my friend. I like feeling like I can be pretty-ish in a pair of pants.
Nonetheless, I think we all get the analogy. My crazy, it's showing. Pretty much on a regular basis now. The masks we all wear to hide who we are from those that would do us harm are pretty bad disguises for me right now lol.
However, I love pretty much everyone in this thread. <3
