Shinies! Oh how we love hoarding shines! But, guess what? We like giving them away just as much, if not better =D.

The winner for page 329 will get TWO prizes instead of just one [squee]

The birdies told me they were quite pleased in the uppage of signature links. We can see your signature, by the way, hummy. It's just pointing to a different hangout!

http://www.menewsha.com/images/items...67c18fdcce.gif Magus's Creamy Cappuchino and
http://www.menewsha.com/images/items...0e59db2733.gif Amythest Stripe Shorts

The Cappuchino is a nice little accessory, but unfortunately not worth much because it's an NPC item that the market is a bit over-saturated with, honestly.

The shorts are more 'swim trunks', they should equip on both genders, but you are also free to sell anything you receive to the sellback store. I do believe they are worth slightly under 100 [gold]. However I would do so very quietly and not when Phobos is around as she is quite fond of purple (Deimos couldn't care less, Red is her colour!)

Mimmu 08-14-2012 09:27 AM

Ooh, Phobos likes purple? I love purple! ^-^
I haven't seen fresh meat here in a while. Hmm :/ It's sad that this site isin't to well-known. I think many people would like this...

The_Crow 08-14-2012 10:17 AM

Mimmu: Well, part of the reason is that we are not allowed to directly advertise within the fresh meat forum. Hence, the signatures. That is the closest that the site will allow us to come to advertising, and why regulars who post here AND keep a working signature link are more likely to be rewarded.

My birds do also give out even more random rewards, usually for 'numbers they think are cool' in terms of page prizes or post prizes. Sometimes I will give you all a heads up, sometimes I will not.

About a month or so ago we had a party where everyone who attended and took a glass of champagne (or alcohol free sparkling apple cider), was given 300g. That was the most straightforward giveaway we have ever done. All you had to do was toast to the health of this and ALL of the charities on Menewsha for a free 300[gold].

Phobos and Deimos are real anime and manga characters (though of much more importance in the manga) from Bishoujou Senshi Sailor Moon and Bishoujou Senshi Sailor Moon : Sailor Stars. They mostly spend their time as 'companions' to Sailor Mars, the psychic priestess. However in the past they had humanoid form and one of their companions basically sold out to the bad guy to try to become a full sailor (Sailor Lead Crow). They became humanoid again in the confrontation. I have a few images of them in my signature, and I show them both as humans in their own signature. They have their names written below them: Phobos wears purple while Deimos wears red.

dessertdesiert 08-14-2012 01:33 PM

I really want to watch Sailor Moon now. I only saw a few bits when I was younger so I did not get the reference to them.

Mimmu 08-15-2012 04:49 AM

I loved Sailor Moon when I was a little girl, and couple years back I watched the anime. Nowdays I think "[wtf] I have watched?" when I try watch the anime again. :/

dessertdesiert 08-15-2012 01:19 PM

Really? :*(

hummy 08-15-2012 07:04 PM

Maybe you're watching a poorly done dub that's why. :S The American dub was horribly done depending on which one you watched. The Geneon dub was the only dub that made any sense. [;)]

To bad Stars couldn't be released in the US. I heard the German one was edited but I think the Spanish one (I don't know if it was South American Spanish, Mexican, or Spaniard Spanish) that had a better dub soundtrack. [;)]

hummy 08-15-2012 11:57 PM

hiya, Lizzy!

The_Crow 08-16-2012 10:00 AM

I didn't want to have to do this, but you guys made me. After all, I am in Sailor Moon FAQ re-writing mode. I found my old Tokyo Metro area subway and JR rail map last night and was pointing out all the different stops and lines I knew and where all the both 'popular' and secondarily Sailor Moon real life things were located.

1. The DiC dub. Keep in mind it could have been worse. Alot worse. Remember that 'not quite Saban' trailer that floated around? ANIME WAS NOT POPULAR YET. Their goal was to 'dumb it down' into your average after school kids show. No Japanese openings or endings. Redoing the majority of the names (personally I was glad they let them KEEP as many as they did and how RINI is short for SERENA and CHIBI USA means LITTLE USAGI). They also had to put a healthy PC "lesson" at the end of each episode... the funny thing in there is sometimes you see clips of things cut out of the show... like Melvin getting whacked in the face with an eraser. The ending was far too rushed as the crammed two episodes into one. However in Japan after seeing the Senshi (japanese name for the "Scouts") DIE, not "captured", not "taken", DEAD, lifeless, on the ice... some kids went in to shock and had to be taken to the emergency room.

Pioneer/Geneon did a better job. They actually used a Japanese song "Sanji no Yosei"/The three o'clock fairy, all of the scouts attacks were kind of muddled because some were given back their japanese names while others still the dub (ie Shine Aqua Illusion for mercury). It was less edited and made for a more mature audience but kept the same background music and voice actors.

Then came Cloverway we were all so excited. But they blew it BIG TIME. They added in the original background music which is... late 80's in sound (early 90's in reality) and this was in the 2000's. BAD MOVE. Also, the switched out half of the dub voices, and the lead dub voice I could not stand. Nasally with cotton in her mouth? Geez. During the previews where Sailor Mars was doing her thing, those were okay because she was one of the two or three kept voices... but eventually I dropped it and switched to sub for the rest.

Also, if notice, Sailor Moon S got DARK... especially with Sailor Uranus's "Suicide" once she figured out the Talisman (they ALL had Pure Hearts) was in her, etc, Sailor Moon looking so beat up at the end holding baby Saturn... they thought they pushed it too far which is why the next season is all

PINK (please shoot me) Double transformation! Crystal Bell! Twinkle Yell! Pegasus Hear our Prayers! not to mention... Worst... wands... EVER.... in terms of innuendoes. I... kind of cliff notes that entire seasons.

THe REAL ending of SuperS in the beginning of Stars with Nehelenia, and the mirrors... torturing them all, pariing them with ones they don't work with... but it was awesome that they gave her a chance to start over, and she actually was cute as a chibi.

Then realising the horrid mistake of SuperS and that the characters need to grow up with the audience, they got back on the right track with Stars.

That's something the American audiences don't understand. If it starts at a certain "Dumbed down' level, they excpect it to stay there so they can show it on reruns till kingdom come. However Sailor Moon isn't like that. Yes, it generally has a monster of the day and whatnot, but there are many elements of the series that GROW UP, as the characters do, as its audience does...

Okay... end rant.

If you haven't guessed, sailor moon was my first 'ANIME'. I liked Speed Racer in 6th grade as my favorite SHOW and Voltron in 7th grade as my favorite SHOW... but yes...

Yeah and Sailor Moon was my 'first' modern Anime per se. My first 'anime' was Nuzzles or whatever dubbed anime was on Nick Jr. at the time. Maybe it was the first anime they dubbed in the sixties that I watched on VHS or on reruns on television when I was three years old.

My first hardcore anime (despite the fact it was the edited TV version) was Vampire Hunter D, and I saw it on TBS Superstation at age three as well. [angel]

Your rant is well validated, Crow. I didn't like Card Captors Sakura because of the horrible dub that was on Kids WB. :S

The_Crow 08-17-2012 02:36 AM

I no longer have 'favourite shows' but more like kicks that come in and out. My current 'kick' is basically:"
Doctor Who
Torchwood
Supernatural
Deadman Wonderland
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex (I NEVER get to see it in order!).

This is the first time in some years my kick has not only included non anime, but more non-anime than anime. I have all Doctor Who and Torchwood figures along my desk behind my computer, but anime toys still dominate my Curio cabinent, the top of it, and the top of my dresser.

My kick before this was:
Code Geass
Code Geass R2
Ouran High School Host Club
Harry Potter

One of my ancient kicks was:
Reboot
Gundam Wing
Neon Genesis Evangelion
Serial Experiments: Lain

I don't know much of the detail in a dictionary like fashion as how I do with Sailor Moon, but I do know that they changed "Card Captor Sakura" (1 main character) to "Cardcaptors" to try to appeal to more boys". I do have to admit the dub song makes you feel like "HELL YEAH, I want to catch cards!" while the anime song is like "is it time to have tea parties now?" I do have the first 8 episodes and the movie though, both subtitled. The first on VHS, second on DVD. I also have the Book of Clow with all the cards. When I still got along with him a tiny bit after each episode I would 'hide' the corresponding Clow Card(s) somewhere around the house and we would have to look for it. Our bathtub tap leaked so now my Watery card is permanently warped -_-;

Paranoid Doll 08-17-2012 04:47 PM

crow~ you make an awesome kyoya. > u < myuuuro~

and i used to love gundam wing when i was younger,
my older siblings used to watch it all the time~ * u *
what's you're opinion on endless waltz~??

and i just finished watching the first season of supernatural
last night with my sister. q u q we're working on trying to
get my friend to lend me the second season soon~ * u *
