Rainy- I actually know what you mean. I'm not the only sometimes-suicidal person I know on the internet and I, too, get worried when certain people disappear or aren't around for a given length of time. It is especially bad with people I have a real life relationship with, or have made 'half real' connections with (snailmail or phone calls).

Naoto-chan- Generally, you're right. -kun is often the honorific used for young boys. -chan has an extremely girly connotation to it. As long as I have known Kai, she has never struck me as a typical 'girly girl'. In anime, if you watch Mahou Sensei Negima, you will see that Takahata-sensei calls Asuna "Asuna-kun". It is a bit more rare but not unheard of when -san is too distancing and the person either isn't a girl or very stereotypical girly.

Also in Ouran High School Host Club, Haruhi was downright offended when Honey-senpai called hir "Haru-chan"... notating closeness (they just met) and/or effeminity (everyone thought she was a boy at that point and still most often referred to as Haruhi-kun when not just by her first name (very very close) in the series.

I dont worry only when I know the person is suicidal because I know world is not one big meadow (and what about maniacal horse sized butterflies? ... Joking, joking) and lots of things can happen to the person. >: It worries me. Not that anything has actually this far happened to a person that has been gone for a while from my friend circle, but I still remember that time when a girl came online and said their car had run of the icy road and they were lucky they had not crashed into any tree seriously. It was first time I realized that if it had happened, we would never find out what has happened to her, she would only disappear...

Personally, I think I would leave my friends a message if I really went to do something to my self. Cause, you know, you leave notes to your family, then why not your friends on Internet... It doesnt matter if they are far away, they are friends nontheless and would worry if I disappeared, too.
