I had insurance on my last phone that broke. It was a COMPLETE AND UTTER WASTE OF MONEY. I had to pay a monthly fee for the protection and if it does break, you still have to pay $50 to have it replaced with a REFURBISHED phone. Such a freaking waste. That was through Verizon, maybe some other companies have better plans but I don't trust them. I'm getting out of Verizon as soon as I can and moving over to AT&T with my fiance.

Estrella: I had a question about the DAC contest... Do the hair/eyes factor into the overall rating of the avatar? Also, do you want us to use the color of the mechanic's hat and knotted skirt that you used in the avatar shown or can we use a different shade of the same item?

Yah that's what I mean...alot of those insurance plans are a rip off and usually no one bothers to use them as even if they do loose their phone it makes more sense to go another route.

I'm on pay as you go...so there really isn't any insurance option that I know of BUT I wouldn't opt into it even if there was...

It's honestly cheaper to just buy another cheap phone. It only makes sense to get it if you have a really expensive phone and even then it's iffy.

I think pay as you go is a good way of doing it too. There are a lot of good plans like that but my mom pays for my phone now so I'm not complaining and it'll be pretty cheap for me to get in on a plan with my fiance so I'm gonna with that for now. ^^;

Yeah, no, it was definitely stolen. My aunt said the person was using it to send texts at 4 and 6 last night. I "lost" my phone around 2pm. And I did need a new phone anyway but ffs, I just spent 86 on my car registration, 100 on contacts/eye doctor, 50 for the dentist and my daughter's bday party is this weekend. Not exactly the best time to have to buy a new phone, you know?

My aunt thought I had insurance on mine. I do not. I went into the Sprint store today and the guy was kind of abrupt and just stared at me a lot so I didn't stay to look around. I think I'll just shop online that way I can read customer reviews. If I'm going to be paying 150+ for a new phone, I'm going to make sure it's one I really want.

Also, I guess someone on our phone plan is due for an upgrade. I am hoping my aunt and uncle will let me use it since they used mine to get my uncle a new phone. Which, by the way, his was working fine. It just had a crack on the outside. :roll: My phone was a POS but it still worked and it's kind of putting me in a bad mood.

For now, I'm borrowing my ex-husband's mom's iPhone. But I'm going to make a list of phones I may want to buy tomorrow.

I don't really want to talk to my aunt and uncle about using that upgrade because everytime I mentioned getting a new phone, they kind of rolled their eyes or looked offended. I asked them not to use my upgrade because I knew my phone wouldn't last another two years but they did it anyway. My uncle made an offhand comment last night, which I think he meant to just be a joke, that I probably lost my phone on purpose to get a new one. Fuck you, sir, I am not asking you to pay for my new phone and we agreed that using my upgrade would be a bad idea because my phone was so old.

Gah. Pardon my rant. tl;dr--> I'm upset about my phone.

Anyway, to answer your question zig, if you don't want to change your hair/eyes it's fine. I have a pretty good imagination and can work it out. You can use any shades of those items that you'd like, just as long as they're there.

Ugh, that does sound reaaallly frustrating. There isn't much else I can say but to wish you luck. I usually look at phones online to get an idea but then I go into the store to check them out too. I can't really decide on one for sure until I've gotten a chance to handle it on my own. I've been thinking about getting the Palm Veer but I think the keyboard might be too small. I won't know until I can find and AT&T store where I can check it out though. That phone's $100. I've never actually paid more than $50 for a phone because I always get the ones that have rebates or whatever. >.<

I don't know why they cost that much, it's fucking heinous. I don't have that kind of money for a new phone. I was even looking at the simplest phones possible. Fuck, give me the ugly bar phone with the antenna if you can keep it under $100. :\

You can go on Ebay and buy phones and then have them activated with your account as long as the company carries the phone/it's compatible with them. That's what my fiance's dad does whenever one of his kids breaks their phones. He'll buy a new one on Ebay for cheap and have them use that.
