I don't celebrate it ebcause there is nothing of the sort here in latvia but it went fromvery abd to happy and then to sad and then to happy again and we had some drama and such. XD Thats why madly. =P

I'm sorry to hear that you had an overdose of drama, but glad to know that there were some bright spots in your day. ::Thinks:: Just because I'm weird, and like learning new things. . . What national holidays does Latvia celebrate? Like dates and such. And I know not every holiday is cause to invite extended family over for a meal/party/gathering, but . . . Like I said, I'm odd and like to learn, including interesting tidbits like those. |

I really need to watch it one day and see how we look in it. x3 I am not really angry, just amused, lolol. Well, we have Jāņi, which is summer solstice. And then there is Miķeļi from which begins the quiet period when those who have passed away are mention, kind of like a ghost time. It ends at Mārtiņi... It starts the fun and masquarade time until the Christmas. Then people went in Ķekatas which is kind of like Halloween at the very beginning of tradition, only longer. We have lot of old holidays most people have forgotten and we mostly remember Easters, Jāņus and Christmas. Of course, there is also Latvia's birthday on 18th of November and Lācplēša day on 11th November, which is made in memory of war heroes... And all sorts of that stuff. If you are interested, I can keep counting on. |
::Laughs:: Sorry, sorry. If it helps, Latvia does not come off in an unflattering light? Basically, it’s about Earth/World history, but with every sovereign nation having a human avatar. And everyone loves Latvia because of how cute and adorable he is. . . . Although he’s pretty much Shota-bait. . . Ah, if you read the web-comic, or watch the Anime, do it with a grain of salt. If you can’t laugh at yourself, don’t go looking for it. All of the human avatars are compilations of Stereotypes, because the creator makes fun of everyone equally--though he still has time to talk about serious issues. . . . And yes, there are times I wanna beat America upside his head for his idiocy, even if he has the best of intentions.
Hetaila is really popular with history buffs and those interested in world culture. O_O! That sounds awesome. There’s some overlap with other holidays I know, but I know so incredibly little about Latvia. . . . I’d love to hear more. Oh, want me to link anything about Hetalia? It’ll be to LiveJournal, but it’s a place to start. |
