@ Pie - I don't paint much IRL, but when I did watercolour, an angled brush worked well.
One shaped like an enlongated triangle.

She lives in Whitehorse, in the Yukon, but we made a fwe roadtrips to Dawson City, and Skagway in Alaska.

I wouldn't use Photoshop, but wouldn't the brush sizes be able to change?
I mean, if you just make it a smaller size, it's good for detailing.
I use Corel Paint Essentials 4, and I'm quite happy with it. <3

Do you know of any avatar drawing tutorials, and perhaps how to maneuver a brush in photoshop?

I use photoshop in school, all it takes is practice, and since it's a computer, and not real pen/pencil & paper, you'll need more then one color for EVERYTHING.


Another option is getting a job and buying programs yourself...

Unless you're too young for work, then save up allowance/gift money/staving yourself by not buying lunch at school.

Youtube vector tutorials are the way to go, though.

And I agree with Keesa, working for Corel is worth it. <3
It's got about a million brushes and effects.
I did my signature art with Corel effects.

A friend tried to get me into it, but I just didn't like the sound as much as J-techno/pop.
And Perfume is so damn adorable, I just love them.
I REALLY love their videos for dancing.
The choreography from Edge and One Room Disco is my goal before the end of the year.
Maybe before December, if I get un'lazy.

And the sun was awesome. >w<
No waking up and falling back asleep, though. Since it'd be all lit up in the room. xD

And my art was a photo I took in my room, to match the lyrics for Bad Romance by Lady GaGa, and then I painted on the blood (Badly. my other photo looks more real.) and then turned the edges fuzzy like an old school oil painting. xD
I may change my signature, soon.

And Corel is my favorite program so far.
It comes with loads of tutorial videos in the program, and then the brushes and colours are very easy to manipulate/blend.
And then the effects for editing are also completely customizable.
It's been around 100-150-200$ in some stores in Canada, but it came with my tablet fo' free.
It may have gone down in price, though.
