No, sorry, Clair, I was working on translating six pages of a story of mine from Dutch to English.

Feels like I'm doing that a lot, these days. Translating the stories I wrote in Dutch to English and those I wrote in English to Dutch. Expressions that are specific to a language are a bitch to translate, I can tell you. Pardon my French - and no insult meant to anyone. xD

Struggling to translate a sentence in one of my stories to English. In Dutch it already contained four or five - depending on which way you take a certain play of words in it - dependent clauses, due to the expressions I need to use in English, it has now gone up to seven or eight in the English version. All while trying to keep that small play of words in it.

Not the easiest thing to do.

What does not help either is that the story is... extremely complicated.
Five-six main storylines, some parts of storylines from the point of view from those near someone important to the story... the point of view from someone that's not quite a main character. Storylines flowing together then splitting out again. And so on.

I've been writing on several parts of it. One of the parts is the Work-in-Progress fragment Seven Days of Silence that is currently posted here as a separate story.

I can already see that if I ever want to finish all of this story, it can easily shape up to become well over two years of work.

Not that that would be the first time, either.

How long was your longest story?

My longest finished story equals up to approximately 55k of words which means about 70 pages. The longest work in progress currently standing has approximately 60k of words - 75 pages - spread over three documents with another 10k of words at the very least in the writing of storylines, details on character's backgrounds, 'documents' that will play a big role in the story (as in, excerpts from things I wrote out completely, etc.), lists of (self-created) gods and goddesses with their names, titles, what they are god or goddess of, in some cases how they came to be, myths about them, different names in different countries or languages.

I also have a 15k word document for a different story with an in-detail explanation of the (self-made) language I've used to name cities, Kingdom's, Gods/Goddesses, and so on.

If I ever finish this particular story, though, I can be certain that it will easily surpass 125 pages.

Aaeza: I assume that I have several hundred k of words in total spread over different stories, not considering those with less than 5k of words or those that have several versions. Handwritten... don't get me started on that... according to my most recent check, I still have at the very least 500 pieces of paper (usually written on at both sides) to type out.

I can give you a small excerpt on what I consider not-so-detailed background information on the story I am currently working on translating, if you want.
