well i think your more likely to get the older items here then you are on gaia. cause i know i have at least seen the older ci's around and seen some people actually willing to put them up for sale.
unlike gaia i had been with gaia since 2005 and never once saw anyone with an angelic halo and hasn't even been in the market place for who knows how long!!! it's like where did they all go?

I got scammed three times in the 5 years I spent on Gaia, so I've gotten used to disappointment, and learned to protect my stuff well too. Once you lose a hoard of horns of the demon and angelic pendants, you learn to not sweat the little things.

I was never into the Cash Shop, and I found it weird how many things you could get for 1g. =/ The inflation made me go insane, and there were just TOO MANY PEOPLE. X.X While I like the idea of Mene growing and I would love people to come here, I just sort of like it small! :3 At gaia I felt a lot more lonely (although I never did get scammed! =o)

I started to just spend my time in the Avatar Talk forum, designing avatars, getting and giving feedback, and hosting avatar contests. I did many things on Gaia, such as giving items, giving gold, helping other people finish their quests. But the only thing that really keeps me on Gaia is the existance of friends.

well on gaia most people hang out in the chaterbox and just spam away to earn gold here on mene they don't have anything like that and the frown very much on the spamming so i think even if mene gets as big as gaia i don't think you'll get the problems that you got on gaia.

people actually have to hold convo's on here. i think that makes a big difference and from what i have seen and heard the mods on here go around and chat in many of the forums and participate in the site alot and actually take notice when the rules are broken and back them up! it makes all the difference as long as the can keep up with all the people this place will remain spam free and friendly ^_^

Gaia was exactly like Mene when it started. A small community with lots of things to do, and items to buy. Some people donated some money to the website and they gave them an item, the angelic halo, to thank them for it. After that, more people donated and the donation item became a staple. A few years later, they started the cash shop and all of a sudden, anything worthwhile suddenly needed to be purchased with cash or real money, or they were just far to expensive to ever have. Gaia became a money-hungry business, rather than a fun community to meet new friends and that is what pushes people away from it now, especially those of us who were there in the early days.

Yes, the mods are super awesome around here!! :3 (I never actually met mods on other sites, so I'm kinda biased!! O.O)

I think mene is working really hard to stop inflation and not become money-hungry ^.^ I missed the good days of gaia, which makes me sad =( I'm also sad I missed the start of mene! D= Ah well, at least I got here at some point! :3

I'm glad I joined Mene when I did. Its not as close to the start of Gaia when I joined, but its not 5 years after it started either, so I'm glad for that.

exactly on on top of the cash shop you have all those darn advertisements that are just everywhere on there now so they are not only getting money from the users but also from large companies. makes me wonder where all that money is going

i think a lot of people on here are user's that have gotten sick of some of the things going on with gaia so they found a better place to go. i'm sure mene won't go in the same direction as gaia for that main reason. not trying to bag on gaia and i'm sorry if i offended anyone with that

I like it here, that is the bottom line, and eventually, I might just leave Gaia completely and transfer my entire attention to Mene, like Mene deserves. But unfortunately, I just can't bring myself to depart completely from Gaia.

it was hard for me to part with some of my things with gaia cause i had all the nice new ei's and stuff but i juat gave everything to the charity forum that i hung out in then i at least knew it was all going to good people ^_^ they where the only people i actually talked to that bother to keep touch with me at all and don't want to just cyber or something i always got grossed out when all these kids are sitting there asking me to cyber with them in the pm's XP

Thats why I stuck to the Avatar Talk forum. Nobody really focused on anything more than designing avatars and hosting contests. The people were great.

Hehe, I haven't visited gaia in months. =( I'm sad, 'cause I transferred completely to Mene after I bought one of those $10 giftcard things at Target. >.<; My poor turtle. =[ My aquarium was my main focus over there, so I'm happy that they don't have those here! xD I'm getting a lot more involved. :3

i was surprised that i found so many cool people in a charity thread i figured it was going to be full of annoying people that are just there to beg for good items from people that worked hard to earn those items so once i realized how awesome everyone was there i decided to stick to that thread it was the only place i felt like i belonged where i felt comfy and they where all so nice ^_^ so i told them all about my leaving and told them about this site so they could still keep in touch with me ^_^

I often wish I could have been on Gaia in the earlier days. I joined December 2005, the inflation was already bad, but doable. I vended pretty easily then.

Yeah, 2005 was a decent year, but the collectibles started to really suck. After that they became mediocre and bland. Nothing really special. In 2006-07 they really took a turn for the worst and when they introduced evolving items, the collectibles (or donation items as the veterans know them) took a back seat to the much more sought after EIs.

My favourite items on sites tend to be the cat ears and tail, and I bought that on gaia for like 10g. So it sorta took away from the hunt. >.<; I didn't feel like I really worked for it or earned it. =/

There are very expensive feline and canine items that are much more... rough to get. And of course I'm romantic, its how I roll.

Ah. =o No wonder, I got some really cheap ones. And now I'm so used to the Mene avi's and items, that I'm biased against all the other sites!! D'=
