Aww thanks :) I had the sand, but struggled when it came to the sky. I was messing around with the different CIs available for this contest and found that pink one. I though it looked desert-y like it was super hot and hazy (which is why I added the fog), and the clouds at the bottom make it look kinda like its a heat wave [yes]

Aaand now I have "Cat Scratch Fever" stuck in my head.

Oh I can imagine! It's hard when you all want to stick with the same theme, but still look different from everyone else so you don't all look the same. There's only so many combinations of commons you can do before it gets repeated

I'm actually amazed at how different all the entries here look given the constraints. I'm so impressed!

I thought I heard that the avatars were going to be based mostly on the actual avatar's clothing/dress/accessories rather than the avatar and the background, but I've been known to sort of dream up rules that aren't really there.

We are doing the judging based mostly on the clothes. But sometimes backgrounds are just nice to look at.

I'm feeling very good in my choice of green. I was about to cover in red and then I realized there were two or three red themes already.

Yeah, I tried staying away from red and was originally going for just purple and gold, but I loved the belt on the stomach from the red skirt, and the only alternative was a blue skirt, which I didn't care for with the purple color.

I couldn't stay away from red with my entry. It's my favorite color.

Red is hard to avoid because it looks perfect with gold. It hit with me because a lot of the snaps from India I've seen lately show men in sandy and earth tones and the women in fiery colors.

Yep. Fiery colors are definitely common for women in India. I mean, wedding saris are red.

She is Arabian. But Indian commonly gets lumped with Middle Eastern.

They've got some common designs and foods because about in the middle the two sort of just merge.

It's not exactly real curry that I get. It's Golden Curry mix and it tastes like gravy. [drool]

They've got several flavors and I usually use bell peppers, onions, carrots, peas, and chicken over rice. The medium and mild are generally the same but the spicy is sooo good without being overpowering. I've heard it's a big thing over in Europe, but it hasn't quite hit it off here, and I want it to so badly.
