I am good. :D Just dolling and working on my shading for the most part. :) How are you doing?

Sally Sinema 05-02-2009 02:08 AM

I'm good! your dollies are cute!

Ivvy 05-02-2009 02:09 AM

>.< Thank you. I just started really... the blue one is my second doll, and the one after is my third. :)

Sally Sinema 05-02-2009 02:12 AM

wow, that's really good for just starting out. I can't wait to see the third one when you're finished with it.

Ivvy 05-02-2009 02:25 AM

>.< Thank you again.. and I will post it up when I am done. :)

Ivvy 05-03-2009 04:36 AM

Hopeing for the new CIs in exchange for one or more of my dolls.

Fiziali 05-03-2009 05:51 AM

Ivvy, your dolls are just amazing, hun! I didn't know you were doing them for the CI's! If you could wait until somewhere around the 15th (no later than the 15th, possibly as early as the 12th) when I can get more sets, I'd be happy to let you have a set for a doll. Let me know, and I'll see what I want you to pixel up for me, ok? ;)

Ivvy 05-03-2009 06:06 AM

That sounds great Fizi! I will start on one when you know what you want if you can give me a pose idea I can show you the bases availible in the pose you would like. :) And The doll can take a few days depending an how complex the clothing is.. and I am still getting the hang of non clothing items..

Fiziali 05-03-2009 06:21 AM

Np, hun. I probably won't come up with the avi until after I get the CI's later this month, since I did not save a set for my personal inventory yet, and I'd kind of like to use them or at least one of them in the avi.

Also, time is not a factor for me. I like to give artists all the time they need to do their work, and all the freedom to play around with the art. I like to be surprised, as I like the art I receive to retain the artists personality and traits. I choose the outfit, and sometimes the pose, but the rest, I leave up to the artist. :)

I will do my best not to make the avi complicated, as I know what you mean by just getting used to making non clothing items. I'm still pretty new to pixeling myself and the hardest thing for me is shading them.

I also cannot seem to figure out how people make their pixels so detailed. When I try to make the image larger than it will be in the end, it loses it's quality when I reduce the image down to the actual size of the pixel item.

If I try to make it the actual size it's going to be when I'm finished, I can't put in all the detail I want to put in it because there just aren't enough pixels available.

What program are you using for pixeling with? I'm wondering if it's not because of the program I'm using that I am not able to get the details in. Do some programs use larger pixels than others in the same square inch?

Ivvy 05-03-2009 06:50 AM

I use the GIMP program to do the dolls and sometimes a little of the base colors in MS pAINT.. tHE THREE DOLLS i HAVE UP (sorry caps was on and didn't notice >.<) now are the only three I have ever done. >.< I am just learning, so my shading is not perfect. But I promise I will only send you the doll once I get it looking right to myself.. I won't sell something I myself would not be proud of. I am not sure how well I will be at non form fitting clothing, since I have been useing stockings and shorter cloths to practice on.. but I am willing to try my best at what you may want. Gold is difficult but I have a few pattets made that seem to be working okay for it.. like the stockings on my fire dancer... I was so proud that they came out as gold as they did.. also the stars I need to work on because to get a nice rounded look like that is really hard for me right now... but I am as I said willing to try.. if I encounter any problems with it.. I will let you know once we get started so we can maybe find a compromise. :) I really am looking forward to doing your avi though, You always have really niffty ones. :D

Fiziali 05-03-2009 07:13 AM

Ahh, I do have GIMP, but have not used it for pixeling with. Basically all I use GIMP for right now is the filters when I make banners and such. I will have to try pixeling something with it and see how it turns out. I have actually been toying with that idea lately anyways, when I decided it might be my program.

The only thing I don't like about GIMP, is I have poor eyesight to begin with, and even with my reading glasses on, I have a hard time seeing things on a transparent background on that program. I think I can probably get around that however, by adding in a layer with a solid color to it, and delete that layer later on, after I've pixeled the item.

I know what you mean about gold too...I find I do better making my gold items on a special separate layer from everything else, and use the add noise filter after I've colored the item in. The more noise you add, the more the item becomes pixelated, so you have to play around with it a bit to see what looks best. After I've added the noise, if something doesn't look quite right, like if I want it to be shadowed more in one area, I just pick up some of the colors in the image itself and pixelate here and there to add the colors I want. I've actually gotten quite good at making gold look gold, hehe. One of the few things I have mastered.

Your fire dancer just came out beautiful hun. I saw her and I was like 'WOW'!

Yeah, if there is any item that is giving you trouble, by all means let me know. I have no problem changing things around or leaving things out or whatever. I mean, even if my avi is holding a pillow in her hand, and you wanted to make my avi lying on her bed, you could work the pillow in beneath her head instead of in her hand. That's what I mean about giving the artist artistic freedom to do what they want.

If you don't feel comfortable changing the avi from her original pose with the items she is holding in her hands, then I would not ask you to change them. If you want to play around with the avi and the items, do a new pose and use the items in another manner than her just holding them, by all means, do it. If you want to add to, or take away from the avi, that's fine with me as well, as long as she retains the outfit she is wearing. ;)

Ivvy 05-03-2009 07:32 AM

Yeah I made my out fit for the fire dancer based on my circus avi.. but I liked the color I chose instead of the red that the avi was. >.< But I will maintain the outfit. :) I have posed from laying on the tummy and all cute like to super sexy poses. >.< So I have something to bring across most desired feelings..pose wise.. and humm noise I will have to try that. :) For me the transparent background kills my eyes.. so I open the doll in MS paint and save it as a PNG then reopen it into gimp.. it has a white background that way.. so it helped me out.. maybe it will do the same for you. :)

Fiziali 05-03-2009 08:05 AM

Actually, I would rather have the white background on a separate layer than the actual image, because if you have it on the same layer as the image, when you go to cut the white background around the image out, it always seems to mess with the edge of the image.

What I will do is make the image transparent, add a layer, make that layer white, then add another layer and make my pixeled image on that third layer, on top of the white background rather than merged with the white background.

Then when I'm done with the pixeled image, I can go back to that second layer and just delete that layer entirely, and my image will retain it's transparency without messing with the image itself. I can then merge all visible layers and save the image as a .png, .jpg, or whatever and the image is ready to use, transparent background and all.

I hope that makes sense to you, hehe.

Omg, I just realized it's 4am already! I should have been in bed a few hours ago, lol. I will talk to you later hun! I gotta go! Goodnight. :)

Ivvy 05-03-2009 08:38 AM

Yeah that works as well.. I like to add little things to my surroundings and it is easier for me with the background. >.< Like I said I am still pretty new. >.< And sleep well I will chat with you later. :)

Doomfishy 05-03-2009 08:44 AM

Oh, here's your Exchange shop. ^^ Good luck with getting the new CIs, I think they're pretty nice. ^^

Ivvy 05-03-2009 09:05 AM

Thank you Doomfishy.. and Fizi said she would take a doll for the set on the 15th. :) So i will be getting them eventually. :)
