Really no one comes on....almost all the people I know who are older than me here have vanished. Although, some (few) are starting to trickle slowly back in, and that makes me happy. C: I don't know most of them, but I really love this site and I don't like seeing people abandon it.

Actually, most people there DO seem to actually belong to the "moochers and scammers" category, which is another reason I have all but quit the site. D: Its so sad. I remember Gaia in '04. I was there. I got hacked by a trusted person and didn't come back till '06. But, yeah. It was....well, Mene reminds me of it really, that's why I'm still here, unlike all the other avatar sites I've joined and then quit really fast. :lol:

Yeah, a lot of the older users have disappeared. :( And then some pop up out of the blue, like Alexi, and it's a nice surprise. 8D

I can't see Mene becoming like Gaia. XD For one thing, the staff aren't going to let that happen, which is a good thing. Also, the population on Gaia totally exploded after the first year or so. Mene's population has increased but at a slow manageable rate. x) Then again, even I'm starting to become a hermit. >>;

It seems like you have to be super picky with choosing your friends on Gaia these days. ^^; I'm glad I made a bunch of friends early on. It sucks that you got hacked by a trusted person though. :( Makes you lose even more faith in the Gaian populace.
I don't think they're being rude on purpose but it seems like they're unintentionally contribute to the stereotype that oldbies are snobbish - one that I was eager to break. XD

@Anoni - Haha Well, there's a story behind the name. I used to be on the Magic: the Gathering forum on the Wizards.com boards. There was a massive strategy game there that was pretty fun. I used to be a Game Master there. >.> Anyway, the name was inspired mostly from that game. I dropped the last part of my name (_Deathmage) after awhile, but then I got banned. >.>

Yeah quite a few of us kinda grouped up together, but our group was made up of a lot of 03's and 04's combined. At some point, most of the 03's in our group ended up breaking off due to my drama. x.x But most of the group hangs around and posts or messages each other once in awhile.

But that was then, and this is now, and we've mostly moved on. It's just nice sometimes to commiserate with people who grew up on Gaia (lols) in the same generation. As time goes on, that idea of "same generation" encompasses more years. Like now, I can't say I find any difference between 03 and 04, but back then, it was a stark difference.

But yes, I was intimidated by you. ^^ Y'all seemed so awesome and dedicated to what you were doing, and since I never saw you guys post in my threads, I just assumed you wanted to be left alone. I think I broke the ice with some people only through my attempt to exchange with them, and at the time, my methods were pretty rough. (I had less tact than I do now) Not to mention the fact that there were always rumors and drama around me, and I figured that you were with others when you didn't post. XD

@Elie - haha I think I was most intimidated by the tight-knit group you had going there! I'm unsure about how to remedy the situation here on Menewsha, since I believe that we have something similar going here. (Unsure if the new players are intimidated by us or not) - I've taken to welcoming some to the site, but it's hard to make conversation with them unless they pop into my exchange thread. Since I don't go anywhere. (is a hermit like Anoni)

But yeah, I dunno. Even being in the marketplace isn't any better. People find you...it's pretty stupid. I don't get how they give me so much crap over a Winter Rose - why not the Halo? Or maybe it's because of the Halo. I don't know. >.> But scamming and begging abounds on the site. I've managed to talk with a few people that post on my profile or message me through PM in an attempt to show them that I'm not a total "Oldbie asshole" (a lot of them think rich people are assholes, when we're only acting the part because we have to defend against the idiots that bother us).

It's funny how it works huh? Strangers tend to be intimidated by each other, and I think it's a natural human instinct not to trust someone you haven't talked to and to be wary/afraid of them a bit. The trick is to break the ice. I think that as of late (on Mene anyway) I'm a lot better at breaking the ice with people. And on Gaia too really. It's led me to better friendships and I've met people I've always wanted to meet but never got a chance to under my old name. (Mostly because I was kind of busy exchanging and posting like 100 comments to people in one post on my thread. >.>)

@Everyone - As for the Menewsha pronunciation: I guess I kinda go between that Meh-New-Shah you guys do and my May-New-Shah. XD Kinda depends on the situation. Though honestly I don't think I've ever pronounced it out loud before. >.>

And as for the hermit thing, I think it's natural. XD Everyone goes into hermit-mode at some point in a way that is mostly self-defense. You can't talk with everyone after all. Plus new relationships with people can go good or they can go south sometimes. In the exchange, my method of breaking the ice is usually just to butt into the conversation (which may or may not work depending). Or by offering to purchase or sell them an item. XD

D:" Actually it made me lose trust in people as a whole when she hacked me. She was my real-life friend before Gaia. :sweat: I couldn't believe she did it. It was like a knife in my back. D;

I'm getting better too. I'll just randomly come into someone's thread now and start a conversation or just join in their convo. Some people just start talking, some are like "Um. Hi?" and others simply ignore me. Probably because it freaks them out a little that I just randomly pop in. XD So if that's the case, usually I just keep popping up randomly until they talk. :lol:

I'd make a comment about making things smaller, but I'll keep my mouth shut. : P

I was wondering when you would finally slip and think dirty. XD I just thought it would have been like, day one.

Took me a while to figure out what the hell I'm doing on here before I'd worry about things like that. o.O
