@Rhythm - Yeah I would have to agree with your analysis of what Winter said about those items. They are kinda easy to get - everyone has a lot of em. I have three total even. Though i did purchase them at like 200 gold a pop. XD

I used to be yeah, but now I'm in Mene and I have to think about other things than just the money. ^^ My problems in Gaia were based around my exchanging, so I have to take it easy and play things safe here. Selling to people can also increase their estimation of you. I hate to be hard-nosed sometimes because of that. At the same time, I don't want to get ripped off and I know when I am.

At least I have that knowledge so I can make the best choice possible in any situation. XD

In terms of you knowing the prices, I know you know the prices. XD And my hope is that you know I know the prices. So that's the problem with two exchangers bidding on each others' stuff. But the price guide is wrong sometimes! XD It's not a good indicator of what items are like...too low or what items may be undervalued.

Rather, I guess it doesn't show how often those items are sold. Then again, I have yet to see a price guide take into consideration the amount of times an item is sold. And that could be easily manipulated as well.

Yeah. I dunno.

I used to own a user-generated price guide. I got a lot of people saying I was manipulating prices or doing things to generate my own profits, since I was selling at the time as well. But I always updated -after- I sold something. So...can't really change the prices to sell something and benefit from it if I sold that item prior to the update. XD But either way, I updated like 50 time a day I swear. So it was the best updated guide for awhile.

But I can see how there would be an incentive for someone to mess around with the prices for their own benefit. Or I can also see how people might think it's being messed around with for others' benefit. Then again, mods are people too: As evidenced by a certain mod getting banned for banning people and taking their items to sell off-site, people can be twisted sometimes.

*shrug* Ultimately it's up to us as users to report discrepancies and the mods to enforce some sort of reason on it so that they don't take a 4K item and turn it into something valued at 100K. XD (Extreme example, but you know what I mean)

And yeah: There were times when I felt that someone was screwing around with prices for their own benefit. But it was provable. Best I could do is update mine according to an exchanger's view on items. Maybe I didn't have the long lists of proof. But I did for sure believe that I knew what items were flukes, what items were being artificially increased in price, what items were falling, what items were going to rise and be popular in the future, etc.

It is taken into consideration. Though lately its been getting update by two moderators with long work days lately. So we have been relying on users as well as staff to report sales.

As for the items that rarely sell such as the Valentines, Pattys, Fans, and Crowns. We try to judge best on the majority of the offers and do an average. A vday Hairpin sold for 450k one time but that was one offer that high. The rest of the offers were 280k-300k. Someone just decided to overpay.. alot. It is just hard for the mods who update to be everywhere a sale takes place.

Yeah: the problem with those rare items is that they almost become "Whatever the user that owns it wants." And/or whatever the buyers are paying at the time for it. So I guess that would be insanely tough to update. I know I was never able to really update the price for Halo on Gaia. I just said that "You know, this thing usually sells for 3 bear hats' worth. Judge accordingly."

But as for a lot of recent stuff, I admit I haven't really reported sales so much, since a lot of my trades are like, item + gold for multiple items. XD That and I try to buy within or lower than price guide price while selling for around high.

But there's a few that are probably undervalued. I guess I'm just capitalizing on that while they're low on the guide? Might be mean of me. But there's no proof that they're higher, it's just that I believe they are. And beliefs of prices = nada to most of the world. Except exchangers.

@Rhythm - lol Yeah that's what I heard anyway. That guy was a walking talking sucking up mod wannabe when I was here at the beginning of Mene. He had reasons for it. It wasn't just to help people. I think he told me his reasons. But whatever.

Order armor has to be more than 1K I will say that right now. Blind Justice is coming up in the world. Yumeh Cat Ears and Tail are lower than they probably go for. I know Pirate/Ninja low price is 7K, but that's only because the price guide says it's 6-7K and everyone wants the 7K. (Probably should be 7K+) The Winter Presents aren't 200 each anymore. I don't think they are anyway, I'm having a hell of a time generating any interest, and while I have three, that's facts. I dunno about some of the other items though.

I could list others but that's the main ones that come to mind atm.
