I haven't played piano in so long. :3 I used to be pretty good at it. I still have the ability to play and everything, I just don't have any current pieces. So I was sight-reading mostly. lol Chopin Ballades and sight-reading = fail in some spots. XD

True, piano sometimes is a chore - instructors like to make practicing piano into a routine. Once that happens, it becomes a job. That's why I stopped playing. I was always playing for other people and when I took classes in college, they expected a new piece every 2 weeks. I can't work like that with a heavy course load. x.x
Yah acoustic guitar would be awesome to learn, but I just don't know where to begin really. X.x My hands don't naturally move that way. So it'll be tough, no joke! lol Yeah but at least it was taken care of quickly. ^^ |

I think I've improved a lot in a couple of months since I didn't even know how to read sheet music. lolol. I'm just sticking with learning songs I listen to a lot right now.:3 Lol. Same here. Plus, I have short fingers. ._. And I either I'd have to get a special guitar, or learn how to hold it a correct way which I can never seem to do when someone tries to teach me.xD I'm really good at Guitar Hero though.:D lol. |
Always good to start with things that you know - that way you can tell if you played it wrong. ^^ Since you couldn't even read sheet music, that's awesome improvement!
haha Guitar Hero can't capture the intricacy of having multiple strings to play on, and multiple frets. XD But if you are good at it, then you have rhythm (ironic? XD) and you should be able to be good at the real thing once you get everything down. :3 |

I'm sure you can learn both of them. ^^ If you have the drive and love of music you should be able to at least enjoy it for yourself. That's the main thing. If you end up playing for others and only for them, it's not worth it. I'm rediscovering my love of playing music. Mostly because it's one thing I am really good at and I can express myself through it. ^^ But it's tiring to play for too long right now, as I have to look at sheet music and staring at it makes me tired. XD |

I haven't really gotten around to playing classical music.
I listen to so many different types of music and once I hear a song with a piano piece in it, I'm all for learning it. Then I try to learn all these songs and I never have time for the classical ones.x3 Yeah, I know what you mean about expressing yourself through it. That's why I love art. Drawing and painting are awesome.:3 Writing is great too.<3 I hate writing for school but when I'm writing just for me, I actually enjoy it unlike most people.x3 Plus, I don't have to write about stuff that I don't care about but rather things that actually mean something to me. Lol. Reading music just stresses me out.xD I'm not that great at it yet.x3 Ergh, I would have replied sooner but I had to wash the dishes. Then why I got back, I pressed some button and it went back a page and I lost what I wrote. lolol. |

Lawls. XD @Rhythm - No worries, you replied plenty quick! I didn't notice the difference. You type fast! The reason I learned classical music is because I was taught that way for about 15 years. XD So it's all I really do. I don't know that I could rock on the piano. But I do play percussion so give me a drumset and I'm good. I just need to learn guitar. Either acoustic or electric is fine, I just want to learn so I can do both. Drawing, writing, playing music - it's all awesome when done for yourself. But yeah I think that school-writing sucks mostly because it's mandatory. XD |
