I don't specifically do resumes but I could help since i have had to do resumes before and had to redo my resume several times.

The Wandering Poet 02-12-2013 05:01 PM

Hummy it's alright, I'll figure it out. o.o I'm not too fond of exposing that to people I've not met before.
Far too much personal information goes on a resume

hummy 02-12-2013 05:02 PM

ah, i thought it was you.
umm, oh, it's spunky3: maybe?
anyway, Poet you should pm us with your application and we can read it for you.
typo's and such can mean you get tossed in the recycle bin.
*does the happy good luck getting the job dance*
how long has the job bee posted?

oh, okay, i do understand.
have someone at home read over it to make sure it flows well.

dessertdesiert 02-12-2013 05:07 PM

Poet you can always replace names and such to hide personal things.

A lot of it was a copy/paste from their website so I have to reword it while keeping the key words.

hummy 02-12-2013 05:21 PM

it's always good to have someone else look at it,
sometimes we don't see big foux pas
[yes]

dessertdesiert 02-12-2013 05:23 PM

Ok, first is format is key, Make it easy to read. the titles such as General Competencies and Technical Competencies etc. should be to be put to the left hand side so they can easily find it when glancing over the resume.

---------- Post added 02-12-2013 at 12:24 PM ----------

Also put at the top what you want the employer to notice the most. I would put in your education that you are doing right now and when your program will end.

agreed.
oh and bold those items.

---------- Post added 02-12-2013 at 09:26 AM ----------

have you taken any of the classes they offer their applicants?
i took a lockeed/martin course that was a few weeks long.
i would add those to the top of your application/resume.
can you post their application/job post?

dessertdesiert 02-12-2013 05:28 PM

Also make sure if you feel like you don't have enough information spacing it out is key to make your resume look fuller then it is.

If you have too much information try to keep it on one page, they don't want to look at more then one page.

hummy 02-12-2013 05:30 PM

i think spunky said to make the font bigger if you don't have a lot of information, too.
spacing is key. too smushed up makes it hard to read, thus it's in the bin again.

dessertdesiert 02-12-2013 05:32 PM

Here is an example resume format

HereX

The Wandering Poet 02-12-2013 05:41 PM

The problem is DD... Boeing's resume system has absolutely no formatting ability. Text only. =/

WHEN!!!!!
you get it, Poet♥sweetie!

The Wandering Poet 02-12-2013 06:06 PM

O.o hummy used big font size... did I do something wrong?

Hummy is a Boeing kid? :O

dessertdesiert 02-12-2013 06:07 PM

Wait how do you give Boeing your resume?

The Wandering Poet 02-12-2013 06:12 PM

Strictly through their website. Boeing is sort of like a stubborn kid... everything has to be done their own special way

dessertdesiert 02-12-2013 06:15 PM

I know but can't you download an application? I know that is how some of the jobs i applied for that's how you added your application.

The Wandering Poet 02-12-2013 06:18 PM

There is no Job Application whatsoever. Just a resume is all they take.

dessertdesiert 02-12-2013 06:19 PM

I mean upload the resume xD I don't get how you do everything on their website.

The Wandering Poet 02-12-2013 06:28 PM

Well you make an account, then you build a resume (based off of an application preferably) and then you submit "Apply", select the correct resume, and you're done

dessertdesiert 02-12-2013 06:40 PM

That makes no sense to me, I honestly never liked those resume builder things.

The Wandering Poet 02-12-2013 06:49 PM

It's not a resume builder. It's a "Paste your resume here" thing.

hummy 02-12-2013 07:09 PM

i get it, it's just a fill in the blank box, yeah?

The Wandering Poet 02-12-2013 07:12 PM

Basically yeah, then often times a computer will scan it to check for key words
