xuvrette - I love working in bookshops! I did several years ago and then worked in a sheet music store and both were so much fun. I'm so not career minded - I could be happy working in a bookshop the rest of my life!

Yeah, the one I worked in was actually a college bookstore, but the opening for my position was in the trade book (non-textbook) department. That was so much fun! I especially loved when it was time to do returns, especially on paperbacks. The companies don't want the entire book back - just the front cover. So we'd rip the front cover to send back and then go through all the coverless books to see what we wanted to take home. I've still got a box full of coverless paperbacks I need to read.

WHy do they just want the front cover?

I have no clue. I think maybe it just wasn't cost effective to take the whole book back? Maybe because paperbacks usually get bent a little when people are looking through them? I always wondered that, but never complained! The first time, though, it was kind of sad ripping it off the book.

Aliena, 12 Victorian Ladies?! Wow...that sounds like many details... and I don't know why, lol. You two sure loves to piles up art commission. If it is me, I cannot take the pressure...I will feel guilty for having people to wait.

I still have to finish Yume's commissions from my auction way back in March XD;;; I got 3 more pieces to go lol. I've also RL commissions and a few freebies that I've promised since forever and a day as well XD;;;

I work full time now that I can't really spend all that much on art anymore. ;3; And it's not fixed schedule XD;;; I don't even go home every week. May be once every two weeks lol. It's not like I work 100% all the time though. Just that the cost to go home and back is too expensive that I'm now semi-living in the work place. XD (assistant at this new recording label in Jakarta, Indonesia. I started as an English teacher for 2 of band members hehe)

Wow, Shosho! That sounds like such a fun job! How lucky for you to get into that position!

I stay home with my little girl (she'll be 2 in October), so I have my art time during her naptime in the afternoon and then after she goes to bed at night. I don't like working on it during the day while she's up. But it's nice to be able to stay up til 1 or 2 at night and not have to go anywhere at 7:30 or 8 the next morning.

This commission is fun, but a lot of work. I'm just happy that it means in 2-3 months' time, when I'm done, I'll be that much better. I can use all the practice I can get! The only thing is, I'll probably have no desire to draw at all after that, since I'm doing the lineless thing and that takes even longer. I have a Gaia commission for my best bud too - she won my auction last March and is so patient. So instead of a fullbody with bg, I'm planning on making hers an epic, multicharacter, groupshot with bg.

@ xuvrette: sorry for the slow response XD; as i've said before... dial up lol. anyway, before i came here 8 months ago, i used to have cable, so, trust me, i'm still coping XD;;; i used to take on the commissions because i had free time. but almost all the time, as soon as i open the list and receive commissions, i'd get busy with RL TAT;;; and thankfully, most of my commissioners had been so patient and understanding! and i love them for it! XD;;;

@ aliena: I'm not too sure. At home I have ADSL. Yes, the office has dial-up, mainly because no one really uses it. Internet isn't really a big thing in Indonesia yet, so yah. I hope that once we move into our new office, we'll have ADSL at least TAT;;;;

Yah, I felt that way, too, when I first got the job XD It was all luck. Only less than an hour after I got my haircut hahahah I chopped it all off and look so much like a boy now XD;;;;; I just wish the band much success. They're so fun and awesome bunch~ Even though it's only been more than a month since I started living with them, I'd feel so sad if I had to go back home ;A;

I've lived away from them for so long and I miss them XD; Sure, economically, I'm not really well off, but I feel happier since family's here XD; And I work as an assistant in this recording music company in Jakarta. The company's still relatively new and they're trying to launch this one new band. I started as an English tutor to two of the band members (the vocalist and the bassist) :3

lol well, i did live outside of indonesia for 11 years XD; so, i guess so hehe. i mean even though i'm indonesian, i've only lived here like... 5-7 years max out of my 25 years of living XD;;;;;

ooo...lucky you~ To be able to visit outside...but which country you are at mostly? Being able to improve English that much?
