Kiwi - I know you probably won't want to do this but I am just suggesting this because its what I did. I went out with the first guy, I wasn't ready to settle down and I had compormised on what I wanted in a guy so it didn't work. Then o n the second guy, I wanted to get married and he did too and I didn't compromise on what I wanted. We got married 2 years later. I know most people can't fathom doing that, waiting to date till you want to get married ( both of you ) but it really makes it worth it. You aren't just wasting your time and emotions. You have a direction for your relationship. We both talked about it and that's what we wanted if the relationship worked. I have never been happier. People told me I was nuts but it worked. ^_^

I know some people who date for the sake of dating. Such shallowness...
