Depends on who said it to me. My mom used to tell me and my younger sister that when we were growing up. And I was upset by it. :( Getting compared to someone else's kid hurt more though.

I was never upset by it -- but it all really depends on the context and the meaning behind it~
I wouldn't take it to heart though hun -- just let it slide for now :3 If it happens again, you could ask what they mean and then if it hurts you, you can explain that to them as well as learn from that and know what not to do next time :) I mean, I say it to people sometimes as well -- it really just depends on the situation :3 In my experience, it's meant more as a "You're going to give me a heart attack one of these days if you keep doing that!!" sort of thing lol Do you know what I mean? |

And I should clarify that when I commented that it made me upset when my mom would comment that me and my sister would be the death of her, I tended to be more upset at the reason she'd make the comment. You know... Last thing I wanted to do was actually be the death of her. And looking back, I could see where she was coming from. xD |
It's not really something to be taken literally -- it's more of an effectual saying that's said more for emphasis and to make an effectual point, versus meaning "Yo, I'm actually going to die because of you." lol
My mom has said it to me multiple times -- usually it's when I don't answer her call when I go out somewhere or in general and like, hours go by and I still haven't called back -- she gets all freaked out and worried :3 It's more of that sort of thing versus meaning that they're actually going to be killed by you :3 Just from my experience, anyways lol I can't really speak for your case Liz ^_^;; Just thought I'd add this post 'cause I forgot to explain that in my last one xD; |
