He doesn't have health insurance.

Val - He should be able to apply for disability though from the military right? I'm not sure how they work that since it's the government technically.

He is in the military? Then they can do that. He can get an honorable discharge for that.

I still feel a lawyer consultation may be good. There ARE lawyers out there who don't get paid unless you win your case. Maybe that could be a route to go if his injuries will eventually prevent him from living a "normal" life. If he can't drive in the future because of his eye trouble, that's a definite problem that someone should be held responsible for.

Yes! You should definitely get a pro bono lawyer. You'll get 10x or more the amount of money for hospital bills and what not that he would without a lawyer.

I hope he considers it. It could make a big difference if people won't hire him for work in the future because of possible health problems.

Let's see, if he's sick and can't work because of a work accident, then he should be getting workers comp. If he is unable to hold another job then he should get disability and compensation for wages lost.

Since it's a labor problem, I think there should be some labor groups in your area who can address the problem and usually are pro bono. Think NGOs or those specialist groups who adhere to help the lay people with their problems.

If you can't find a labor group, go to the local group of lawyers. It should be possible to find someone who can and will help somehow. Not all lawyers are unmerciful.

I don't know how your labor laws work but I think you can get compensation or something.

Your government should be better off than ours since here... They steal you off first before you can even get help or make it such a hassle---seemingly making it like it's your fault you got into trouble and that seeking help is such a bother. Making people who do get into situations as such as burdens.
