Izumi: One of my friends loves scribblenauts as well.
xD
*wishes she had money to spend on more games*
... Ouch...
; - ;
That's a bit of a pity-keep. Which is not good for both parties.
But the fact the hospital said to keep him drinking so he doesn't do more harm??

Yah I know, it's pretty harsh for all concerned. They've been together for a long time though, and even though it's simply a platonic relationship (I've never seen them kiss, hug, or show an ounce of affection to one another) MIL is a fiercely loyal person and I don't think she has the heart to give up on him even given the circumstances. She's been hoping that he drinks himself to death lately as it seems it's the only thing he wants to do and at the rate he's going he's starting to make himself more and more useless as time goes by. He use to be a big help around the house, but he's pretty much been laying on the couch drinking and sleeping since being laid off.
I'm not really upset or depressed over the situation but just aggravated at MIL for supporting him like this for so long. Her exhusband, Aaron's dad, was a heavy alcoholic and drug addict too though and I think this is really all she knows relationship wise. It's disheartening. I'm just glad that Aaron turned out with a much better head on his shoulders. He quit smoking, very rarely drinks anymore (he'll buy a six pack and it'll sit in there long enough that half of it will turn to 'skunk beer'), and hasn't done pot in a long time. He tries to paint himself as a really cold and calculated kind of person, but deep down he's got a heart of gold. I keep on telling him he's really done well for himself and his circumstances and I'm so proud of him. He could of given up on everything years ago (in fact he had one suicidal attempt before he met me, once he hit rock bottom with his exwife), but we're together, have a house, and are making the best we can out of the cards dealt to us.
Anyways, thanks for letting me get that off my chest. I've been tempted to go to the neighbor's house to talk but after the last time with her husband being so horribly negative and stating chide remarks I really don't want to be around him. He kinda rubs me the wrong way.

Hrm, I think Aaron got his heart from his mother? She sounds very nice.
Being laid off is horrible for males for some reason. My dad got laid off and he's trying to be an entrepreneur, and really, he's going to fail... But it's better than him getting slowly more and more depressed at home. Right now he's in China for a few months for meetings...
... *sigh*
Negative about the MIL's guy or your husband? I think guys are too harsh on each other sometimes.

Hata - Hubby is upset with Pat for him bringing his mother down like this. Poor lady has to drive him everywhere as he isn't sober enough to drive, and even if he was he's had so many DUIs now that no one in their right mind would insure him. She's the only one working right now, and has to come home to him laying around, drunk off his ass, and then bust her butt off at home. I wouldn't put up with Aaron if he got that bad. He'd need to seek help and stay on it, or I'd be a done deal. I mean sure I'd give him chances, but I wouldn't let him get away with it like he has.
Also, I wish your father luck, Hata. I know this economy has hit everyone pretty hard.
I'm dead excited for hubby to get home. I didn't get much done today, but I've been pretty lonely and wanting his company...and well we're both finally feeling better after that nasty cold so I might have to...*filters* ;)

If that were me, it wouldn't matter how good a friend they were, I'd kick him out to the street.

She's a patient lady... though in this case, it isn't a great thing.
But he sounds so bad, I think he might instantly die if I forced him out side.
Thanks. I'm kind of hoping he does well in china. Though if he does well, he'll force me there for a year before college, which wouldn't be good since I cannot really read or write chinese.

I'm hoping the economy picks up soon. I feel badly for my friends... I'm lucky in that my husband's job is secured, and if I choose to leave the family business I'd be okay because my area is hungry for BHPs...

Behavioral Health Professional. That will be my undergraduate title. There are one or two organizations that will accept senior-year undergrads provided they'll be graduating in the spring. I am.
With my family member being incarcerated, I need to wait until January to see if my family needs me to help fill in the loose ends at the business(es). If not, I'll be applying to some agencies to start working as a BHP. It pays more than the $10 an hour I get at the family business anyway. Starting pay is $12 or 13, and it goes upwards to $15 I think?

Tis doomed anyways.
I'm ignoring 3 projects and the rest of my homework. Feeling oddly down this week. Dunno why.

Might've been the HUGE project due monday that I've been working my ass off on and a failsome bluebook that I only finished 2.3/5ths of and the 5 tests on thursday and friday.
*feels burned out*
And I have the feeling I've been being antisocial...

...That sounds pretty rough, Hatake. :/ I'd be feeling antisocial and down too. Actually, when I get overloaded the first thing I want to do is sit in a quiet spot away from people. When it's really bad, even the Internet is included there.
3 projects... guh. When is your next break? Do you get one in November??

I feel so lazy. I really should be "writing a letter to Hu Jintao talking about 3 strengths and 3 weaknesses of china and its views on terrorism, Afghanistan, and the united states".... but...

How are you? :3
@Hatake
Man...we get a week for Thanksgiving. ._. You guys just get the holiday off and the weekend and that's it?
Maybe you're not "lazy", but it's being burned out. I kept pushing things off when I was burned out a year and a half (or so--can't remember) ago. I just couldn't do anything because I didn't know where to start. o.o

Other than that, I am working on my avatar.

Chi: You are in university/ college though, right?
They probably make it a week so that people can travel to see their families.
And I guess so. Our school calender is a bit hard to read...
*looks at it sideways and peers at the calender legend*

But I CAN'T be burned out this year!!! Tis Junior year!

This will be so bad.
And it's really only because of one class. The rest I love. AP English however....

@Hatake
Yeah, that's true. Dx Technically our entire break lasts 9 days (two weekends, one week of class).
It does sound like that English class is a killer. Plus you have the stress of wondering which colleges to apply to..

For next year's blue books in English, you have to memorize quotes and page numbers.
*cries*
I know I'm applying to Cornell, just because my parents both went there, I've seen the campus, and it isn't bad.
Temple is a BIG safety school for me.
Maybe I'll see BU.

If you do end up going to China for a year, when would it be? Would it be after you graduate high school or would it technically be your senior year?

Hi everyone! :)
I snuck on after hubby went to bed so I could do my dailies. Having hard time sleeping over all his coughing. He's still not 100% better, but we're both feeling much better now.
@Pi - I have a pair of ugg slippers which I absolutely adore. I spent waay too much on them, but I bought them while I was still living at my parents so I had more fun money to spend. They're awesome as they have the hard bottoms so I can wear them outside to get the mail.
