Hey guys! How is everyone this afternoon?

Heh, I'm actually cranky. My dad kinda rained on my parade last night.

What did he do?

Well, I called to tell them that I had actually gone out and done something social and that I might be making a friend, and I was all excited. And he completely blew off my exciting news to complain that I didn't do something fast enough (I got it in before the deadline, he just wanted me to do it even sooner than that).

Parents can be sucky. Generally best to ignore them.

I'm a little confused. What do you mean by the deadline?

How nice of him to sound so supportive. x_x Sigh...

Heh, it sounds little, but considering I've been here a year and a half and I still don't have a single friend, it's a big deal to me.

@Chi: Oh, it was a form for school that I'm still waiting to hear back from. And he feels like if I had finished it and turned it in way early, I'd have heard back already. Which may or may not be true. I was just happy to have turned it in on time.

You're your own adult in this world. But by saying that I also know what comes with that. I don't like feeling some days that my proud moments aren't really shared by some of my family. It sucks, and it's slightly alienating in feeling.

I hope your father's remarks won't spoil it too much. Hopefully this person and you can meet again soon and build a friendship.

*hugs* Aww, thanks Chi. That does make me feel a bit better. It's just hard going from having a huge support system to almost no support at all.

But, I *did* have a great time. And this girl is definitely someone I could be good friends with. SO I have high hopes.

Steel - sounds like your parents and mine have a lot in common! They're always quick to correct me and make sure that I know that it's my fault. I call them hoping for some sympathy but I'm given tough love. I've had to learn to just expect that kind of reaction and not go to them for any emotional support.

That's awesome that you met someone though! I don't have any of my own friends here, except for the neighbor across the street. Everyone else I've befriended are friends with my husband. I'm hoping going to school might give me an opportunity to make more friends though.
