I definitely enjoyed the luxury of simply being able to go to the dining hall. Of course, living on campus, your options for storing, preparing and cooking food are also quite limited, so it's a trade off. :)

Anthony Darkyn 01-19-2010 02:20 AM

Indeed it is. xD I think George Foreman grills and crock pots are allowed in the residence halls, but nothing with an open heat source (like toasters). So actually, there's quite a bit. Fridges tend to be pretty small though. And really, you have to have a meal plan in the residence halls anyway, so why go through the trouble? XD Unless you like to cook. >>;

Chi 01-19-2010 02:21 AM

I wonder how badly dorm life would have ripped my stomach up. :XD It probably would have been like high school, since I'd not have gotten tested for the whole allergies thing.

Anthony Darkyn 01-19-2010 02:22 AM

I dunno what it's like there, but I know here, we actually have a student has a separate grill and fridge in our dining hall because of his allergies. Our staff goes out of their way to help. But if you don't know about the allergies, it doesn't do you much good. >>;

Chi 01-19-2010 02:22 AM

Yeah, that's pretty much what I mean. :XD If I hadn't known.

Saisei 01-19-2010 02:26 AM

I'd imagine at some point you would've gotten to the testing part, since you wouldn't have gotten any better, y'know?

Chi 01-19-2010 02:29 AM

Who knows. I only did that testing to appease Nana. I was in denial for a long time thereafter, too. :XD Food isn't supposed to make someone that sick.

Saisei 01-19-2010 02:32 AM

You wouldn't have needed to appease Nana even if you were at school?

Chi 01-19-2010 02:32 AM

Probably not. It's doubtful I'd have worked. If I had been in the dorm life, I'd have stayed on campus.

Saisei 01-19-2010 02:33 AM

...and she would've pestered your mother about it until she pestered you about it until you did it just to be free of the hassle. :)

Chi 01-19-2010 02:34 AM

What I'm trying to get at is I doubt I'd have been much in touch with my family.

Saisei 01-19-2010 03:18 AM

I guess I was respectfully disagreeing. *shrug*

Cami 01-19-2010 03:21 AM

I respectfully disagree with the disagreement.

/doesn't actually know what's being talked about/

Chi 01-19-2010 03:22 AM

*pets Cami* 'Tis okay. I luff you all the same.

steelmagghia 01-19-2010 03:49 AM

Hey guys. How are things going?

Izumi 01-19-2010 11:00 AM

*bounces into thread*

Feel much better this morning. Actually laid in bed at 8pm and fell asleep short after. I then got up at 5am, finished math over a cup of coffee and now just waiting for hubby to go before I hop in the shower...then I shall tinker on the computer for a little bit before I finish getting ready and going. I need to make sure to get there a half hour before too as I promised two girls I'd help them if needed with their homework if there's any questions. I hate math, but I figure if I'm able to do it, and understand it enough to explain to someone else I should do well on the test.

Chi 01-19-2010 12:15 PM

I'm trying to wake up a bit. I'm too nauseated to shower. If I'm going to work I kinda need to do it now. :gonk:

Izumi 01-19-2010 12:51 PM

Ouch... :(

Took me a little bit to fully wake up, but I'm ready to go. Just need to slip my shoes on and get the house locked up. I've got 15mins so I'm not in a *major* rush, but I'm headed that way as we speak.

I'll probably log on in the computer room and check my mail and mene though before heading into the classroom...unless the girls I promised to help are already there.

I just finished my homework too at like 5am. O_o I think I mentioned that?

Cami 01-19-2010 02:25 PM

My tummy feels all tight and knotted.

Chi 01-19-2010 06:03 PM

Yeah, you did mention doing your homework at 5am. :XD At least it got done, right?

It looks as though my first day of classes will be canceled. I could be wrong, but the weather is atrocious and only going to get worse. Snow, snow, snow.

*makes Cami better*

Izumi 01-19-2010 07:44 PM

Meh I finished up classes for the day, but I'm not quite feeling the same emotionally at the moment. I think partially due to just the non-verbal clues from classmates from earlier that kinda has me bummed. I'm getting that 'she's the weird-girl' vibe and while they're not outright telling me to go away I can tell they're not really all that comfortable with me hanging around them. In fact I joined two girls from English at the table after class to sit and talk and they both just kind of ignored me while doing their own little thing - one on her portable laptop, and the other on one of the school computers.

Speaking of which, there's cameras seriously set up in every corner of this place which just feels slightly weird. I mean I guess I'm worried they might come and tell me off for posting on menewsha since it isn't technically school work. To be honest, I need a break from school for a little bit and to unwind but I can't really get home for another 40mins until my ride is here. Meh.

Kinda scares me how my moods fluctuate the way they do. I mean I'm not entirely unhappy just kinda having a blah day as far as trying to make and keep friends around here. Maybe I try to hard?

On the plus side, I'm helping the 50 year old understand her math homework, so inbetween the end of Math and the beginning of English I'll sit her aside and make sure she understands what she's doing before she leaves. She has my home phone number too, and I expect her to call me before next class to ask for help. I hope I'm doing good for her...I mean that she's actually retaining everything...

Chi 01-19-2010 07:50 PM

I can't speak for all colleges/universities, but so long as you're out of a class (by that I mean the lecture block), you should technically be free to do whatever you want on the computers, so long as it's within their usage rules. Usually providers just ask that you don't download music, view porn, etc.

So on your breaks you should be able to come on Mene and post. I'd say technically there's nothing "illegal" about posting during class. In my experience that's up to the instructor. Some don't care if you're not there to learn, and others demand 100% of a student's attention.

If ever you're in doubt, ask someone. It might make you feel better just being told that school computers can be used to browse personal sites on your free time. You wouldn't even have to explain Mene, either. Most people know Facebook, YouTube, e-mail and whatnot. If those are allowed, Mene is too, chance are.

It's good that you're reaching out to help others that need help. I'm sorry that some students are being brats. Sigh. :(

steelmagghia 01-19-2010 09:02 PM

Izumi, I work in one of the computer labs on campus, and even though we have signs posted all over the place saying that the computers are for school use only, not personal use, none of us really care (including my boss). We basically put those signs up because we caught too many people looking at porn. *rolls eyes* We still do on occasion. Weirdos. In the middle of a freaking public area!

Anyway, just thought I'd let you know. :)

And we have cameras everywhere as well. Mostly so that if anything happens (especially in the way of vandalism), we have a way to do something about it. The quality on them is too crappy to really tell what is on anyone's computers.

Chi 01-19-2010 09:21 PM

I'm not sure if we have cameras or not. I just know our log-in sessions are recorded. Beyond that... no clue. :XD

Sammi 01-19-2010 09:25 PM

*invades thread* Bwahaha. Hi Chi (& company)! :) How are you doing?
