OMG...you look like a clown, Cami...*gets heebeegeebees* :XD

Chi - I think it works the same in all states, where you get the initial 26 weeks through your state. It would effect him post 26 weeks though, if congress decides to stop extending. Michigan currently has had enough extensions that it is possible to have been collecting for 99 weeks. Yes 99 weeks. I think THOSE individuals perhaps start dropping, but I've just started my tier I extension for another 20 weeks and I was hoping it would cover me at least halfway through my education, if not longer. :(

I really hope I haven't ruined either Chi's or Kin's night with the whole unemployment news. =/ I'd just rather you be aware of the possibility...Hell I'm not in good standing if they don't pass it, either. I'm still technically employed but the hours have been rather scarce and school has been pretty demanding of my time as it stands. I'm hoping that an extension goes through, I really am.

I haven't taken the first week of unemployment benefits this year, and the new year starts in June, so I'm covered for the rest of the year from the state regardless of what the feds do. :)

Seriously? So will it restart for me too or no? I don't quite understand how it works...I started my unemployment the end of July of last year...

I don't know what it's like in MI. In ME the claim year starts over the end of June. I believe the claim year goes from July 1 to June 30, but I've never had to do much research into it, so I'm not sure.

And you're automatically given x amount of months off per year?

I don't think it works the same here...I wouldn't be surprised if there's a stipulation...like you're only allowed to be on for so many consecutive weeks, instead of merely starting over in June. Just doesn't sound like it would work in the favor of Unemployment or the job you had (as they pay taxes for unemployment...).

You're allowed 26 weeks of benefits in any 52 week period in Maine. I know it's the same way in Wisconsin, because my dad has been collecting quite a bit this year with his factory job going in and out of the shitter.

I'm really hoping I can continue collecting...I really feel like trying to work and go to school full time, and just the normal crap around here is really going to stress me out. Every other weekend is also reserved for the kids so I wouldn't be able to work then. :/ I really want to finish up my degree but on the other hand I do value my sanity.

My friend Sara has been collecting unemployment benefits for a year. She's waiting to hear if they'll be continued.

Which state is she from, Cami? Just out of curiosity...I'm wondering how many states are affected by the deadline.

Massachusetts. I know that she had to reapply at some point, and they decided to continue her benefits, and that's the same thing she's doing now. The big issue now, actually, is that she did some temp work and they might continue her unemployment based on that salary. So, she'd only be making like 100 dollars a week, which isn't nearly enough to live off of here.

She says that the government understands that unemployment is rampant right now, so as a whole they're understanding about it taking longer than expected to find a job, but that some of the kinks in the system are a problem.

Hmm I dunno, Cami...I did some temp work too and it didn't effect me. Strange. I claimed throughout it though so I didn't drop off their radar. I've tried to work as much as possible up until starting school, and even that was really difficult. I haven't gotten nearly as many hours during that period. I work in customer service though for a huge shopping channel. If other people are struggling just to pay bills, it's going to effect how many people are calling up and ordering from this shopping channel. Money is just not there....which in turn effects the people taking the calls. Throw in there that they moved me, and everyone else on the cellphone project that moved overseas onto this line and there is just not enough to go around all around. It really sucks.

Here's an article about it, actually. When stints on payroll hurt the jobless - The Boston Globe It was on the front page of the Boston Globe. My friend Sara is quoted at the bottom.

Meh. Money.

I'm sick. I dunno what happened between yesterday afternoon and last night, but something isn't right. It's not morning sickness but more flu-type. If I get a fever I'm going somewhere. At least the desire to throw up left with sleep. >_>;

I'm sure I'll feel better later on. It's just sucky right now. On top of crappy dreams. >/

@Cami
I already called Mom, so at least I don't have to worry about taking care of my nephew on top of it. I feel absolutely trashed.

@Izumi
I think the only thing I'm going to do today in batches is laundry. It needs to be done regardless. I wore Cole's pants since I was out of my own. :lol:

I'm going over to my neighbors to see her new baby, then I'm going to make myself do either school work or house work...Both need doing. :(

You know, I think I like the What's that head more than the OMG one, just because the black hair is so much easier to match.

Yeah, I agree. Black is easier to match than brown.

@Pietro
I've been wondering where you were. Are you okay, or is school and life just keeping you busy? I hope life is good either way! :)

I don't do holds though, sorry. ^^;
