The whole concept sounds a bit 'trippy', Chi. I wouldn't mind seeing it in action.

The game got bad reviews by a lot of the player population, but I think judging from the actual critiques I read it's because those people couldn't grasp the concept of the game itself. And I'm not going to get all "psychologist" on anyone but in a stereotypical norm, people probably can't analyze the type of "trippy" the game is until 16-18 years old, if not a bit later. I think adults would enjoy it more than early to mid teens would. Depends on the person. Some 16 year olds are very developed mentally, but I still think 18+ would understand it more.
I was floored by it, really. Cole and I both loved it. The only thing that isn't completely explained is the ending (and by that I mean the last minute or two, seriously), and I think that comes into play on what the individual playing believes happens when you die.
When we got the PS3, it was the first RPG I had seen that looked interesting. I liked the looks of the battle system I had seen online. I wasn't up for paying $60 at the time, then Amazon had it on sale last year for $30. :XD So I nabbed it. It's been the best video game purchase for me in the past 3 years, I swear.

The more I hear about this game, the more I want to try it. I saw it came out for the 360. I might have to keep my eye out at a used game shop. It sounds very addicting. Right now my videogame-crack of choice is PuzzleQuest2. It's addicting as hell.
Did you read the announcement about the funds not being there? Makes me sad. I don't want to see mene go!!

(No mention of closing mene down YET, but if changes aren't made, who knows...)

There are differences between the 360 and PS3. The PS3 had added features put in, but I wouldn't go looking for a direct comparison because you'll have quite a few aspects spoiled for you. If you do go for the 360, you should be able to find it dirt cheap.
I just read the announcement, but I didn't take it as a case of Mene shutting down. I think it's more to illustrate the point that changes have to be made, and a lot of users may be unhappy with said changes. I may just be thinking in those terms because of the other announcement about the potential merchandise. It's highly doubtful the only changes would be cash shop and/or merchandise. Highly doubtful. I'm not sure what they have brewing for other things, but they'll give it their best shot regardless.
Too bad money doesn't grow on trees. Like he said in the post, a lot of people in the 20+ range have to put their money elsewhere. When I lived at home, I spent probably $100 a month on Gaia easily. But I had no other bills save for the phone and Internet. I could blow cash wherever.
I'm pretty sure I can blow cash wherever once I get through grad school, but a lot can happen on a website in 3 years. :b

Yah I wish I could blow that much here too and not bat an eyelash. Maybe when I'm working we will be in better financial waters where blowing 20 bucks a month on Mene would be chump change.
I like the idea floating for the shirt. I'm just hoping that people keep their word and purchase them and also that it does end up being profiting for the site. I think if they do a limited edition item for menewsha to go with the purchase of the shirt that it would be even more popular.
----------
And yah I think a lot of negatively minded people thought immediately that it was an impending doom.
I think I was like more of an "OH noes. Mene goes down I will be seriously sad." kind of attitude. I am liking the fact Inso did spell it out before making major changes and alienating the fans here.

I imagine Mene will lose a handful of users for the changes, but I think in order for the site to survive it may have to come to that. I don't foresee Mene ever becoming the disaster Gaia is in terms of "money this, money that". I can't envision the staff increasing to the point they would need that much revenue. However I do think that a cash shop is probably necessary at this point. The pixelists put so much work into gorgeous commons for the shops. Imagine what treasures they could create for monetary costs, like back wings and other fantasy-like items. I don't think Mene would go overboard with it, and I imagine some of the staff would rather die before a cash shop became a place to put "regular" items like shirts, pants and of the sort.
It's already being handled well from the get-go. As you said, Inso's doing his best to spell everything out ahead of time, rather than having himself and the staff stay quiet. He'll have done the best he can do in terms of being upfront and honest with the user base, and that's all any owner can do.

Definitely. I'm not going to feel slighted if they make more "special" items centered around the idea of cash. If we have the money we'll donate, and if we don't, we won't. That's how the cookie crumbles.
Besides, if the item(s) in question was/were that important to me, I'd just not get coffee or that little snack at the health food store before class. :P You know, just swap out one small luxury for the other. $5 on items or $5 on coffee and a snack? Could be interchangeable depending.

That's my attitude when it comes to spending the $5. Easy come, easy go. That and I find collecting the pixelated stuff here incredibly addicting.
You wouldn't be cross if I'd be interested in the SNGs in your charity now, would you? I'm seriously thinking of trying to go for those...especially since I think some of the cost has died down a bit.

I don't think it would be fair to give you both, no. I think that ends up being "friend privilege", or at least it could be construed as such. But it's been a long while since anyone has linked a quest thread or shown interest, so asking for one should be fine.

OK that sounds more than fair. A part of me winced when I asked as I know that I said I wasn't going to as they are absurdly hard to get.
Actually you know I'll hold off. I've got plenty of other items I'm questing at the moment so I'll let someone else have a chance. Thanks though, Chi. :)

Chances are good they'll still be there. :P I think I'll probably put them up as prizes for the next event, too, provided Cole and I are here and not at the hospital. They need to get into others' hands and not on my charity account. I'm surprised few have just asked as the blooms have been wanted.
Either way I expect them out of my hands by the next event. :3

That's cool. :) I just feel kinda shitty asking for them after giving you mine and selling the ones I got. I just got frustrated at how difficult it is to even bump into a NPC, let alone catch them on a good day. Not to mention there was a little bit of feelings rubbed at one point. Long story and I don't really want to dig it all up.
CIs/EIs are fun to collect as anyone can get them (provided they donate or do the EI events). I'm really hoping they open up the quester's raffle/auction sometime so I can have a chance to get the really rare items. I really would LOVE to get my hands on a female welcome t-shirt. They are so ungodly expensive these days. :o
----------
There! Finally done reorganizing my drawers. Pity I sold almost all my Chaos/Order stuff from the 52 shop. :o
That's how I got the money for the scarf and for my Ninja/Pirate set though. :) I nearly sold all my commons, except my Chaos/Order stuff as I love them and that's one of the only CI themes that has been carried over to commons.

I've managed to get NPC items (save for Channah's... those were by bumping into her) by participating in event "games" and threads hosted by the NPCs. You may wanna scope them out. I got a Bloom this past event just for giving feedback, so in some respects they are making it easier to obtain them. Channah's still seem rare, but hopefully she'll make more appearances soon.
If they do open up the Quester's Raffle, I imagine they have a ton of welcome tees. I have no doubt you could get one in the long run. It just takes time.
I've thought about selling all the commons I don't wear. I'm curious how much gold would appear if I did. >_>;

Oh god I got quite a bit back. I was surprised.
I'm going to buy back the Chaos/Order items I sold as I like those colors but I think for the most part I'm going to keep commons to a dull roar and throw them in my 'junk drawer'. (And perhaps the black and healing commons from 52...to add a little bit of color....)
----------
Oh ok I stand correct. The Panda/Bee themes and the Alantis/Phoenix items did get their own commons.
The problem is with both they are fairly expensive and I'm not a big bee fan. I like pandas, and the Alantis/Phoenix stuff is pretty...The problem with those is for some unknown reason the masks have shot up insanely high in price to the point where I will probably struggle obtaining those.
----------
That and this whole "Chaos/Order or Good/Evil theme" is kind of very close to home. My father is very much a black or white kind of person and we've hashed it out over numerous debates over religion and just the very core of morality and good/evil.

My favorite items are the Raven and Dove wings. If we had back wings, I'd be stoked. Though I like the Overlord stuff, too.
And yeah, that shocked me. I looked at the sellback confirmation and went, "...Seriously?"

Yah I really hope they give the dove wings the same treatment they gave the evil stuff. You know when I threw together my Chaos/Order drawer I threw in the tomes (nightmares and dreams), the healing stuff (good guys heal right?), and the devil wings items...I forget what they're called. You gave me the one with the giant scythe though which had me absolutely stoked.
You know judging by CIs, I would venture to say the pixelists have a preference for evil stuff. Well maybe you could argue the nature stuff is good too...I dunno.
----------
Oh and Threw last month's CIs in my order/chaos - the storms of indra and whatever the rainbow one is. I figured they fall in the whole chaos/order kinda theme.
----------
I also love the animal CIs. I still need to get my hands on another Tatsu. That's the last CI from 2009 I'm missing. :o

I wonder if August's CIs will be black/white? I'll be sticking with this outfit for a while, it seems.
Man, I'm having issues with this paper. I've been working on it since 10:30ish. I have most of it put together but I feel like I'm rambling... it just sounds disjointed.
It's about group work, what types I've been in, what strengths and weaknesses I carry, and all that.
