Hey Chi, I'm kinda feeling a bit tired from new puppy stress. Hubby says it's reminiscent of having a baby, as I'm having to really watch her and take her potty every couple of hours. She's being pretty good so far. Her only real issue is not being house broken. She doesn't totally understand the whole concept of the pad. She was teething on furniture but since I got her some nylabones she's been better...Oh wait *caught her noming on the vacuum cord* (Talk about timing. :XD)
Everyone thinks she's adorable, but when I tell her her name is Yuna they all go 'oh' kinda sounding disappointed that I didn't name her something cute. Pam's girlfriend originally named her Chloe from some bratz character and I thought it was cute but Aaron was like no that's gotta go...
Anyways I gotta go reassemble my bed. I totally vacuumed every square inch of the carpet and sprayed some spray to help kill off any fleas living in the carpet. My house is kinda needing to be put back together. I hope puppy and kitty get rid of those wretched things. Kitty has a flea allergy and has been pulling out his hair. Poor thing. :<

@Izumi
Do they give you the disappointed look because they know Yuna is from a Final Fantasy game or just because they don't think it's cute? I think it's plenty cute, game or otherwise. O.o;
Terra can't decide what she wants tonight. e_e Sleep, eat. Eat, sleep. But buttclung to one of us for sure. XD

Izu: Yuna is a cute name~
(I'd probably just call her Yun.... Like "YUUUUUUUUUNE~")
Aw, Chi, hope you can chill and relax soon!
From what I've heard, breast feeding can be a pain... BUT YES, breast feeding= some better than none.
Though really, as long as the babe gets fed... it's all good.

Chi - Only the dorkiest of dorks get the whole Final Fantasy reference. I mean we named the kitty Mog, after the famous moogle in FF games. Then his brother was Khimari. So I was trying to find a fitting name for doggy and I thought she really had the personality of Yuna.
I think people thought we'd call her a 'dog' name like spot or fluffy...or something just as unimaginative.

Not until January, so for now it's best to just forget I've even written it. Otherwise I'll obsess.
Izumi: My brother's dog is named Butterstick. You think your dogs get odd looks for their names.

Hehe butterstick? Where did the inspiration come for that one?
Aaron wanted to jokingly name a dog something stupid like "Help!", Dog, or, an inside joke, squid.
I finally sat and thought about Final Fantasy names, as it's one of his loved video game series and thought Yuna was a very unique and fitting name for her personality she was exhibiting. :3 I know I've been on a FF10 kick but I couldn't name her Terra (for obvious confusion...) and I couldn't think of any other heroine that sounded fitting.
Maybe next dog or cat will be called Relm...We'll see. :3

Strago sounds like a cool name. :heart:
I struggled as I wanted to name her Aeris, but she didn't really fit an Aeris. She seemed more like a Yuna.

Nah, we're going with Alexander if we have another child and it's a boy.
I could see a puppy being more like a Yuna than an Aeris. Out of the two names I see Yuna being the more energetic one.

Butterstick is named after a baby panda that never had that name. :3nod:
Assuming I ever have kids, my big problem with naming them will be that I use all the names I really like on characters (or I really like the name because it's connected to a character I like) and I don't think it's a good idea for an author to name their kids the same names as their characters.

O, thanks cami, that make sense~~~
Wa-wa-wa-wait. Just askin', anybody else feel weird about naming their kid something like... Liam and knowing a Liam?
I just feel like they'd think you named your kid after them...

Depends on how well you know the Liam, but yeah, I'd feel a little weird about that. Especially with a more unusual name like that. Or Ira. I know an Ira.
And the whole story is that some number of years ago, St. Louis Zoo had a baby panda and they opened it up to the people on the internet for what to call it. The people chose Butterstick, but the zoo vetoed that. My brother spent a lot of time watching the baby panda live on the internet and even got a shirt with it's picture and the name Butterstick on there. So, he named his dog after that.

That dog has big shoes to fill....
;D
My old soc teacher named his child James Steven (lastname). His rival/ friend teacher across the hall (they always screw around with each other) is named James. My old teacher was named Steve... We so made fun of him.
xD Even though it is a perfectly cute name.

Bah. Stupid retyping stupid post because of stupid internet. Which is stupid.
Names are hard, especially for kids. You have to choose something unique enough that not everyone will have it, but also that blends in enough that the kid isn't constantly made fun of. Plus, you need to avoid pop culture. A friend of my brother named her son Jasper without realizing that there was a character named that in Twilight, and now every time she tells someone her son's name they say, "Like Twilight?" The funny thing is, if she'd named the kid Edward or Jacob, she probably wouldn't get the same reaction. Those are more significant characters, but they're also more common names.
