Sorry guys, all the math talk kind of scared me off so I was lurking. xDDDDDD;;;;;;;
AS FOR PAYMENT
I can also pay in arts? xD;;
Though it's not that good.
And, it'll come soonnnn, because I dun have goldies atm.

And I think windy is avoiding her thread. :lol:
Oh, And Windy, the TI 89 and HP 49g and 50g(I am not sure if any other HP models have it) can solve a lot of the calculus for you. Not all, but in the beginning with derivatives, before it gets too complicated to just punch in yes. xD So, it can help check your work for a good portion of calculus. Do not solely depend on it though. I forgot at which point it stops being dead on. xD I think it was mid way through with us. But it is somewhat of a good investment.

Awwwwwwwww.
The directions were simply to "simplify".
But I dunno the identities of sin 4x and whatever. D:

well...it is. But it isn't an identity. You have to break the equation down into a known identity, which brings you to sin 2x. xD Windeh, make a group thing. xD I don't think the mods will appreciate us going over this kind of stuff in a thread. :lol: It can get rather lengthy. xD
And is that EXACTLY how the problem looks on the paper?

YES.
THAT'S EXACTLY.
HOW IT LOOKS
@[email protected]
I solved the easier ones, but when you ask me to apply the basiccc principles, its' like @[email protected];.
-bad at applications-
@[email protected]
SIMPLIFY
61. sin 4x / (1+cos4x)
62. 2cos^2(x/2) - 1
@[email protected]
That's all the directions they give me.

edit: google searches work wonders tho:
(f-g)(x) linky example
#61 linky here
tan (X/2) = + or - SQRT [ (1 - cosX) / (1 - cosX) ]
= sinX / (1 + cosX) = (1 - cosX) / sinX

@Windy: I can help you some with your math. And you don't have to pay me. It's been a few years, but I got good marks in all my math classes. I can't help much with actual calc though. lol I only made it up to pre-AP trig/pre-calc. : 3 So anyways, if you have some questions just shoot 'em my way. <3

When I have time I'll draw you art? :3
..."art", since I can't draw, but still. xD;
Kay, another problem I don't really know how to approach:
The surface area of a square prism is a function of the length of a side, s, of a square base and the height, h, of the prism.
a. give a rule for thie surface area function.
my problem: Rule? Does the teacher just want the function that'd work for it?
b. find two pairs (s, h) for which A(s, h) = 100.
So.
for A, it'd be 6(sh).
Since it's a cube.
But I dunno about the "rule" I'm supposed to give. @[email protected]
b. I just plug stuff in, right? :3
I did this already, but my friend got a different answer so...

for that prism function... i don't think it's 6sh. Because it's not a "cube". The base is a square, but the height is different, right? At least that's what i'm imagining in my head.
i think it's more like A(s,h) = 2s^2+4sh??
but i really don't get it lol xD
and for the A(s,h) = 100... yeah you'd set the function = 100. And then just figure out 2 sets that will work?

Might as well call it a rectangular prism.

I freakin HATE math.
x_x
T'anmks for all the halp! ^^
I'm now working on sin 4x / (1+cos4x)
So sin 4x = sin 2(2x) = 2sin (2x)cos(2x) = 2(cos x sin x)(cos^2 -sin^2)
Then the 1+cos4x = 1 + cos 2(2x) = 1 + (cos^2 2x - sin^2 2x) = ???

wasn't that the problem above? you cannot use the formula i posted?
tan (X/2) = sinX / (1 + cosX)
therefore sin 4x / (1+cos4x) = tan2x??
edit: if you actually need to prove it... perhaps check out this linky. i didn't read that whole link thru tho. but most profs will accept formulas as givens i think.
