Probably doesn't matter too much so long as you aren't doing creepy things under the guise of being the other gender. Aka 12-year old boys on Gaia pretending they are girls and "dating" older guys to get items from them. @[email protected] (Hey, I don't know why, I just know what I know. :/)

Yeah that's the other thing too - as a female you get treated more nicely by the community. Obviously that makes it easy for people to play it and pretend even more so, but if done correctly you can make friends you didn't have before.
For example, when I was Kalec on Gaia, I was met with a lot of anger and hostility. When I got banned and changed over to start fresh on Alexi with no items to my name, I was greeted more warmly even though I had insinuated "ties" to "Kalec." Then I ended up making friends out of a bunch of people that thought I was evil on Kalec, which was tough at first but they gave me a shot and I can't thank them enough for trying. I always felt bad about my bad rep on Kalec. |

I'm rather oblivious when it comes to gender. Though personally I'm not "acting", I'm just being me... Yeah... women have trouble in the business world... men have trouble in the social world... *sigh* and they say they're left out... I think both sides are missing out on something lol |
Thus the internetz is the best revolution ever. You can experience the pros and cons of being both. ^^ There will always be a stigmatization with gender, but it isn't as big on the net. Though a class system does exist on most Avatar sites, which is a bad thing. o_O

Hmm, weird how much gender colors our world....I personally HATE the toy isles...Girls toys are "Pink or purple" and boys toys are "Blue and green, sometimes even black"...It's really disturbing how much color is put with gender....

Hmm... I think here on mene it's more so the flow of users is more so female than male, giving them more priority. I think if we got more male users they would have an increase in items.

It's all because of the materialistic economy we have going. It makes for more sensational and effective advertising to differentiate the genders. Not only do you get to make two different product lines and sell them to others, but people will naturally try to buy things to make them different from the other side.
I mostly hate the fact that I can't find anything to wear that makes guys unique yet women have a whole ton of real world clothing at their disposal. All we have is stuff that makes us look super-boxy. :/ So - <3 Japanese underground clothing. :) |
