Actually, all the mods on this site are cool.
They actually *talk* to us little people.

I think on other sites they tend to hide, until they can come out and smite somebody.

On Gaia, there's too much going on for them to even come out for a minute - if they do, they get swarmed. o_o Even if they haven't posted. I think Mene is small enough that it's manageable but I hope that even when it gets busier, the mods will still be able to hold that high standard that sets them apart from other sites. :)

All about constantly recruiting good mods and not overworking the current ones. ^^

Lolz, now I'm reminded of my days on Gaia when a mod would post in the Exchange and a gazillion users would be like, "OMG IT'S A REAL MOD!!!111!!11!!"
Pretty funny, now that I think about it. ^^;;

Yeah. It's like the users don't treat the mods are real people but instead go all fangirl/boy on them. :/ It's no wonder they don't post often.

EDIT Now it's Halo Users. I don't post often anymore because I get swarmed. My inbox has a bajillion messages and someone tried to post a scamming link on my profile - I can't even report that because I had to delete it first before it got anyone. x.x

I don't like that on any site. When people go fan girl on people that hold a moderator position. Treating them like they're a different species or something.

Seriously. Though I will admit that I probably messaged mods too much. I had a lot of issues to deal with in my defense. And I considered a number of them my friends, so it just seemed natural.

I don't see people here on Mene getting all fan-like to the mods. I think it's probably cuz the mods post in many of the threads just as often as everybody else. They're just another person.

You should be a mod, Jen. I think you'd be great!
I know that Mene doesn't like people to ask to be mods, but can we recommend others?

It is because people think moderators are super-powerful beings from another planet who can do anything for them. Or they just ass-kiss.. XD

I see people do it all the time on here actually, heh. I was actually waiting for someone to post in the new moderator announcment, "Wow that's so cool. I wish I could be a mod." Because I would have loved to have responded with, "You don't have to be a moderator to help people."

I love how mods on this site are "human" and not god like.

It's difficult to be a Mod. ((or Omni-Mod.)) When you have to tell a person, member - 'hey... you're usually a fantastic member but you did this thing.' It sad - and no one LIKES people to be mad at them and sometimes you have to be the bad guy. :sweat:
