I am so broke after last event. I hadn't saved up a very good amount of gold after the previous event, so this time around when the event came by, it really drained me. But thats because I spend so much each event. Thats mainly what my gold goes to, though. I just save it up for them.

I dont see myself really using them much, but I refuse to not get them. I'll buy them wether I like them at all or not. I've ended up using quite a few of them that I just didn't like. You can usually always make something work if you try hard enough. xP;;

wow i disagree. i find it really hard to find something that is worth the price sticker so i tend not to buy a lot and i make my own clothes in RL. but on mene, everything fits so perfectly that i find myself spending a lot of gold. i spend 5K on events normally. but i dont earn as much as suona does generally. i try, but i dont. lol. so i cant spend that much. but i probably would if i could.

@ Simplicity - lol I'm very strict with what i'll buy, too. Even if I have the slightest feeling that I woudn't get enough use out of it, then i'll put it back. But if I try it on and like the look, and its for a good price, then i'll usually get it, depending on how my momeny situation is at the time. I got $200 from my mom for Christmas, so I've been buying the things that I really want lately, because its just the same as if she'd used that money to get them for me instead.

If I find items that i've been wanting that others are selling for lower than I could otherwise get them, then i'm more than likely going to buy them. But it all depends on how much gold i've got saved up. Unless its something that I really want, I wont buy it if my gold is low.

Yeeeah. ^^;; I tend to do that each event. But thats what the gold is saved up for. It really stocks up my inventory, and it also gives me the items that I enjoy, in a lot of different colors. I use to only get them in the colors I knew i'd use, but I had the colors I dont use often being to short on choices. So instead I decided to mix things up and get all the colors, so i'll be able to make a wider variety of avis with those other colors. :yes:

Mhmm. It'd bug me so much if I didn't get them, and suddenly at some point made an avi that they'd go perfect with, and then have to pay even more to get them. Better to have them there just incase.

@ BSW - lol Its because I usually store all my gold on my mule, and it just keeps building up and building up, because I wont spend it. And i'll try to play games on here and there sometimes, but I have gotten stubborn about bothering with that since its been just 250. But I talk so much on here, that the gold adds up pretty quickly sometimes. I find it suprising.

yeah you do chat on here a lot suona. your a real mene citizen. Im kinda a passerby or a hermit. i come out every once and while, but even then i dont chat all that much. i stick to my corner and venture very little.

@bloodstainedwings: I recognize you and see you around a lot, so I'd consider you just as much of a Mene-citizen as I am. :lol: Honestly, you probably get out on the forums a lot more than I do since I have the tendency to lurk most of the time.

With regards to your quest avis, I can give my own personal feedback. I like the colors in the second avatar more since it's a lesson common combination, but the colors in the first do look nice together. :) I'm not entirely sure why you're focusing on the ship hat, but if that's your goal I'd try to make the theme more uniform. The items you've chosen seem a bit haphazard. I especially don't understand the wand in the first outfit aside from color balance. Try looking at the whole picture of your avatar, not just the colors. For me, the ones you're questing for don't flow together nearly as well as your current avatar. (I really like your current outfit, btw!)

Hope that didn't come across as harsh! :sweat: I'm tired so I probably should have put off replying until tomorrow.

@ferra: that makes me feel better. lol. and thank you. they are just rough ideas. i LOVE the ship hat. but i find it really hard to work with, for the reasons you are pointing out. do you have any advice for either to make them flow better? specifically in the way of items to use.

I rather like the first one, but like Ferra said, the wand just seems weird. It could use a little more touches here and there, maybe. The second i'm just not feeling. The hat seems a bit odd with it.

wow completely different choices. ok. well thats good to know. i made the first one and East made the second one for me. so its nice to see that both are liked for different reasons. i can use something else instead of the wand. but touches here and there? can you be more specific, item wise? cuz i get that a lot and then i will change something or add something and then i get its cluttered or it doesnt flow as well.

@BSW: I'm no expert by any means, but the best way to improve flow on an avatar IMO is to think critically about how items relate to each other in terms of theme and shape. Yeah, color is important too, but I think some people put too much emphasis on its importance. If you like a certain item or layer combo, try to think of what else logically goes with it.

For the second avatar, you have the boat resting on the cloud hair. How about a sky captain/pirate theme? Or if you don't want to be so concrete/literal, think of a general concept/feeling you want to express through the avatar. The cloudy hair is large and fluffy, you could apply this to the rest of your avatar's design: larger at the base to balance so it's not so top-heavy; fluffy, light-looking clothes and accessories to maintain consistency. I also like to play with contrasts in shape/textures as well.

I'm not saying those examples would necessarily make them better, but it's all about experimentation. :) I don't usually go into an avatar with a solid idea, but once I find a certain aspect I like, I'll try to have it mesh into one cohesive look.

@ferra: wow i never thought about it like that. thats really helpful. i am going to try that. i normally am more concerned with balance and colour matching, and could never figure out flow. but your way of thinking about avatar compilation is really different from where i started. its really helpful thank you so much! :heart:

Glad you found that useful, but please be sure to try your own things and experiment. :) After all, an avatar is only "good" if you think it's good.

I try to do new things all of the time, but I'm not sure how much my style has actually changed since when I started. :lol:
